Yeah, that's not a rough sketch at all. LOL. Will share my last one when I get hiome, then you'll understand what rough is!
Now that 6.7 is out I have been uploading the updated blueprints for the Wasp's and another update to the Bowhead. I created 7 different oxygenated zones within the Bowhead, in case of a hull breach. Both of the hydroponics bays now have a separate O2 supply, so a breach in one does not effect the other. Maybe I need to start doing that, I normally start with a basic shape in my mind and feel it out as I go along. Sometimes the final result does not resemble the initial concept.
@rainyday - Cool. I've done similar things in other games over the years, but not so much in Empyrion. Once upon a time I was quite the artist, but years of exclusively using a keyboard and mouse means even signing my name is a struggle these days, let alone any sketching You have made me want to do a huge CV again though, I like the individual hangars lined up opposite each other like that. My problem is I simply cannot work in creative mode, I loose interest while still using Itemmenu to add materials. In Survival however I'll happily build for hours. I'm aware I'm a little strange lol. Not had chance to play yet today...possibly later... Scoob.
Go for it! If huge CV in survival feels too big a commitment from scratch - start things in creative (if you get past the itemmenu ) and use the factory to spawn it in survival & continue it from there?
For me, it's usually a case of start building in Survival, start a new game due to an update, then spawn the BP in and continue where I left off Scoob.
Checking out some of my old ships after the texture change. After the texture update it looks as if someone waxed the floors on all of my old ships. I must have an awesome clean up crew. lol
LOL.. Well that is a good idea for this game. Magnetic boots would be pretty cool in this game. Walk up the walls and walking on the ceiling of POIs.
I got some play time this eve...but it didn't go as I imagined... My plan was, while camped on my CV in the Alien Outpost sector, to create a better SV to more readily disable the POI. I modelled the new design of my original SV - a left and right engine pod - and started work. An hour in, my "nimble heavy SV" looks like a drop ship! I'll get some screen later, but it's not at all what I imagined...the building just got me lol. Ok, here it is, under construction in one of my CV's Hangar Bays. Internals are all in place, but it's not armed yet, nor is it coloured / textured. The tiny SV to the right of is was the look I was going for lol. And the pimped version, still without colour or texture though... Scoob.
Yay, I saw these a few pages back and couldn't wait. Instant subscribe. I am right at the point in my Exploration for Sol City run that I need to build a CV and move on from the starter planets. This will definitely be my ship of choice - which one will depend on what materials I currently have available. I am sure it will fit my mini-base HV without issue. I might have to leave my Lillith SV behind though.
Didn't see anyone comment on this yet, but I really like the wide low-slung design. Don't know if all those exposed engines are wise, but if the idea is not to get hit... well, I'm not the guy for testing so I can't tell you how it works. My vessels need to be built to take a punch or three. Clever idea with the turrets too! Glad you approve! I'm super-excited to have Argentspire done - it's been a long time since I posted anything to the Workshop and while I'm not one to pat myself on the back, I am thoroughly in love with the architecture there. Every angle is just... *Pacha.gif* A little fragile though - basic glass, basic steel (and concrete), not built for truly hostile environments. And regarding the cover images: thank you. I think JRS86 does a better job than I with those, but I do try to make them presentable. You're basically selling the BP with them after all, so a striking shot is needed. Hope they serve you well. I didn't do much testing beyond basic flight characteristics, but unless you're desperate to get out of dodge I would always recommend the LXS - tougher hull, better thrust, and more living space You might be able to park her on the warp-drive wing - use jetpack to hop up the nose and onto the roof, when needed? Inconvenient - maybe I can rearrange some things for a topside elevator...
When I get home today I will spawn it in and have a play around. I might be able to just stick her on somewhere and warp without breaking my immersion too much. As it stands right now, I am living out of a small HV rather than a BA anyway - so they both just get left floating wherever I happen to get out of them anyway haha. If I can manage that, I can manage to hand wave away the fact that my SV is just stuck to the top/bottom/side whatever.
Yep, you can always slap docking pads top/bottom/left/right sides and just go with whatever works at the moment. I've done that with my mini-pod "Kollector" just so I can dock to the ceiling of my hangar and still fit the bigger vessels.
Been working on my pirate ship CV some more. The plan was to continue filling out the interior but I ended up tearing out some catwalk and adding another deck mid ship since I had the space. That meant reworking the stairs which led to adding more thrusters which meant reworking the fuel tanks. Everything is textured and painted. I just need to add seats, cargo, constructors, etc. Gotta say I'm *really* happy with how this is turning out. This is going to be so much better than the original SV version I built. The interior of the SV looks more like a cruise ship or an airline than a pirate ship. That's all gone for the CV version. I decided to remove the masts too. Not only is it a lot of extra weight(especially if I added sails) but it farks up the view from the cockpit. The external camera doesn't handle tall ships very well. On the plus side I have more room on the deck to park SVs.
Thanks for sharing your sketch for Ilmarinen While playing some other games, I made rough sketches of my builds quite often but they were also very rough. lol I used a proper grid at least, but my lines weren't always straight--especially when I drew sketches on my phone.
It was growing on me more as I got used to it, but the slight tweak they did for release improved it for me. Scoob.
Very short play session today as have to head out. However, just wanted to say how brilliant the Alien Outpost main station is. It's been ages since I last visited this sector, and the station is just epic. I'm actually part-way through a boarding operation, having disabled the turrets covering one of the entrances. I've cleared the outer ring and the inner area, I've also cleared the upper decks - Epic Pulse Rifle thank you very much - now just need to head down next time Might get some screen shots, or I might get carried away and forget entirely...also, don't want to spoil the station for others... Scoob.
POI raiding has certainly gotten better. I recently raided the power station on Akua moon, and it was really fun. No clue the changes made to the POIs. Have to go to the alien sector and check this out.
