Amen! One can place Generators then change one's mind on where to put it or orient it plenty often... it's damn important stuff! Here here! & they tend to want Fries with that to boot.
When something like that bothers me it's either rip once or regret it every time I look at the thing.
Then eventually later on just not be able to stand it anymore then finally rip it out anyway... while a LOT more stuff has been built around it that might not work anymore... I've made that mistake before... never again.
After all that practice I had building guest rooms on the city level I revisited a couple areas of the station. Ended up completely redoing the Captain and First officer quarters and changed some stuff on the Medical level. Much better! Put some finishing touches on the cafeteria level and then got a bunch of ideas for the crew quarters so I'm currently gutting that section and redoing it. I had some military style barracks and communal facilities there but I'm going to turn it into Fifth Element style apartments. And here I thought I was done making more rooms.
I haven't been able to play much this week, but I enjoyed a short gaming session with @Friendly Timo last night. Earlier in the day, I was working on catching up with the screenshot gallery on my site, when I spotted a mistake on Gryphon. That's the picture where I saw it. I thought I would just go in and fix it real quick, but I needed to get under the ship again. With Timo's help, I was able to fix it quickly. I was having a hard time trying to explain which blocks needed their proper texture, so I told Timo I'd show him from the top view of the tail section. I hopped up on Gryphon, and saw the same mistake up top!! Afterward, we played around discussing the designs of things and plans for some switches inside our dropship, Gargoyle. I put in one switch (for the headlights) but it would be fun to have a couple of them. Here's Gargoyle from the front. She's not a combat-capable vessel, but can defend herself during a retreat. Not long ago, we tested her in combat and the window on the middle left got shot out. We lost oxygen, but there was damage done to a block directly behind where my head was. I was riding in the passenger seat behind that window and didn't realize how close that shot came to hitting me in the head. What happens if you get shot while in the cockpit or passenger seat? Does the device take damage before you do, or can you die in a perfectly good seat?
I remember that I originally built this as a complaint to the developers. The complaint was, how can THIS weigh almost 7 tonnes? I never liked the look of of it, too blocky, so today I decided and see what I could do with it. I think it came out well as a potential base raider (after the turrets have been taken out) and am debating on replacing the original in the workshop with it. The original is on the right, the one I am debating on replacing it with is on the left.
@Fluffy I really like the one on the left a lot also! I can see why you're tempted to update the one in the Workshop
Thors Hammer was build for Fractalites competition in may, but I got a new job, and never had the time to finish it. Now I am trying to do so, but with really limited time, I need a little feedback on what I HAVE to do before I release it to the workshop. Other type of feedback are also welcome Things I wont do: There are a couple of area that are not finished, but they are for future roomtypes/decor types. (there are boards telling so) Thing I know I have to do: some exterior lighting. Screen text in Admiral and captains quarters. Hook up devices to the main switches in the main engine room. Here are a couple of screenshots and a link to the workshop. Its friends only for now, so you will have to add me on steam if you want to help. Heya guys, question to the active builders here, do you make use of the control panel by rigging custom switches ? I ask because I do and I still see most new builds I download have made little or no use of the control panel switches. I have included pics here of how my control panel is typically setup on my workshop builds and why. I never use the default power switch, I make my own next to it attached to a folder containing a core and whatever other startup items I may need, such as an interior light on a sv and in some cases the ventilator if my built sv is too tiny to care about vent power loss. I make a switch for LIFE SUPPORT right next to the Oxygen switch and keep the vents in there so i can power them down easily when no 02 is required. I make a switch for thrusters which touches a folder containing all thrusters, regular, RCS and hover thrusters if required, due to the empyrion Thruster switch not disabling the hover engines or RCS thrusters, as such I never ever use the default Thruster switch. I use a DEVICE switch to point at a folder containing constructors, food procs, repair station, I usually throw any other survival devices in the same folder regardless of wether they can be unpowered or not, as for me it keeps the folder system smaller and neater. In some of my larger scale panels I have a few switches for different levels of thrust, giving me a low, medium and high setting. In all my panels the switches are laid out the same so my regular subscribers will always know how my **** works. I think good power management is essential on any entity, what do you guys think ? and please post your CP setups if you have one. It would be nice to encourage people to use this feature more ^-^
Its funny cos me and the missus watched the thors hammer and thors chariot episodes last night XD Nice build my friend, very nice build.
Today I have inspiration for a new ship ! however its creation is perhaps beyond my cv level atm. I just learned yesterday that seth mcfarlane the creator of family guy/american dad and Ted has created his own sc fi star trek style tv series 0.o It is called the orville ! the trailer is pretty funny The ship looks like a cross between the andromeda and the U.S.S prometheus xD actually looks quite cool. Would anyone be willing to undertake this project xD And the show premiers sunday at 10 on fox !
Very cool idea! I find that possibilites very interesting and i'm experimenting a bit here and there, but i'm never quite sure what exactly other ppl want. I'm definitely going to add different Alert states as soon as energy shields are out. White = normal operations Yellow = Shields up, all engines activated (for quick defensive maneuvers) Red = Shileds up, Engines 100% and all weapons activated. Blue = Atmospheric Operations (Shields 50%, Engines: 100%, all lights On, etc.) It's basically the normal Star Trek thing, i know, but i think it will be a good place to start and then see what needs to be changed. But without a proper defensive mechanism, i just don't see a big reason to start adding those features. (I know, i'm probably just too lazy, lol.) But on the other hand, what functions DO ppl. need/want on various ships anyway? OMG, i hate that guy! I could never find out why some ppl. find that man funny. Either his jokes are 98% duds or just plain vulgar. For the rest (i have seen one trailer ppl. have forced me to watch) i just can't stand that kind of relationship centric humor and awkward silence (+plus close ups and handheld cameras), i find it extremely un funny, especially when it's done ALL the time. If you like it, more power to you, but it's just not my cup of tea.
