As much as I love the new clean fresh textures . I love the fact that we can still build our old rusted beat up Ships .
I agree. I find myself starting to use the "dirty" texture more these days with destroyed blocks. I mean, if all our ships are pretty and clean, where's the survival in that? If I have to replace a block from battle, it gets no love at all!
I agree and when you build a HV or SV with rusted and destroyed blocks on one of the Deserts planets it gives you that Mad Max look. There is something pretty cool about leaving your ship a little damaged . I do it a lot in survival a lot. Now if only we could dress our characters like this. LOL
I thought I was the only one who did that . I dig the patchwork appearance that a ship acquires from battle scars - it builds character.
Released the Herald Class Explorer. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1132851065 It took me a while to get the size right. The ship features a switch between a economical engine setting and normal setting. There are also two bridges, one at the very front of the ship and the other one a bit safer, inside the ship.
I think will because it would be nice if we could wear different type's of outfits instead of wearing armor all the time.
Today I learned that if you need a really thin wall block, LCD screens can fit the bill. They have a collision mesh, they can be painted on one side, and the other side can be shaded via the screen background color. I've taken to using them for exposed elevator wells - they look much cleaner than using glass, grates or slabs.
But are they air-tight? --- Edit -- Answer, no. Which is a pity, I really wanted to do this on my current build.
For airtight elevators you can use the thin wall blocks. If you're concerned with it looking messy because of the obvious bits missing, you can use the beam blocks and rotate them so that they fit in the gaps and make it look much better.
How come i only discovered today how to make windows transparent.....duh! time to redo a lot of my BP's.
Last night we enjoyed pure role playing fun! We had a few minutes before @rainyday logged on, so I thought it would be fun to add to my collection of romantic shots. They turned out a little too well. So we went and played around on the bridge. @Friendly Timo discovered that if you ride your motorcycle in your CV, you can't breathe without your helmet. We decided to take Ilmatar to Akua and enjoy the HV racing we meant to do earlier. For this voyage, I was the Captain, Rainy was the pilot and Timo was the Engineer. It was so much fun. We went straight to the track and discussed the plan. I needed more than one practice lap, and a couple laughter breaks. It was truly so much fun! We did our timed laps and @Friendly Timo just barely got pole position. During the 5 lap race, it was pretty close between them, but @rainyday won the race I finished my last lap and then we all got together to celebrate. Our race lasted 24 in-game hours--our characters are hardcore. We realized we did the whole race without ever deciding what the prize would be. LOL @Friendly Timo suggested an entry fee of 1000 CR and the winner takes all, so he and I withdrew credits for @rainyday and we all enjoyed some coffee. And we played around celebrating for the rest of the day We cruised back to the Akua base while the as the sun began to set. @rainyday was able to take the hovercraft HV into our deep down hangar, and climb back up again! We returned to Omicron and started working on an early-game faction SV we can build at level 7 when we start another adventure. Now she's just about done! A little texturing, painting and a flare is probably all she needs.
@Starwings, great game photos as always. I very much admire the way you and your friends create plausible worlds and then play in them.
I've taken to replacing missing blocks with plain textured ones for the same reason. Turns out that's also handy for finding things that need to be redesigned or reinforced. Now all I'd need is a set of overlays (Like the ones for corrosion) something like this - only done by someone with talent- to display kills.
Why not use LCD screen? Sure, they can be bit fragile in combat - but you can do cool things with them Here's a link to the symbols: http://www.wingamestore.com/misc/egs-lcd-symbols/uncensored/
Brilliant solution! Thank you very much for the link. I had no idea that the signs were that capable. Replacing the ones that get shot off will be cake now. Edit: Hats off to Frigidman for developing this and submitting it. This is so cool that it's on the Kelvin scale.
