NOW THAT IS A EPIC core room . Maybe some type of Exploration ship with harden steel armor and a few turrets just for protection?
I just realized setting NPCs difficult level to hard makes the game extremely fun. I am running out of bullets on regular NPC Aliens and some of my turrets are having to shoot 4 or 5 times just to hit a drone because the drone is moving too fast for my turrets.
I've noticed before that when Drone Pathing AI happens to send the Drone in at an angle instead of head on, Turrets can be erratic as to whether or not they do a good enough job at their Target Leading Calculations... especially with Rockets when Rockets used to be non-Homer. Yes... this has definitely happened to me before.
I am curious Neal, what is the criteria you use when creating ships? Must it have a ring? Nacelles? Be exploration-oriented thus minimal weaponry? Hangar bay? Others? This fleet is your baby so please do not be shy. I may get bored and try to design a ship for your fleet someday and I want to know what to look for/do. To my silly little single player survival brain, those rings scream, "Ah! Lots of extra materials, high cost! Ah!" But if they are integral, awesome. Also, you should not be so hard on yourself with respect to the shuttle you made - I thought it was quite nice. I am a sucker for gorgeous warp drive arrangement art. Nicely done sir. I am curious to see where you go with it. What is the CV sitting on the platform in the last picture? That zeta outpost is an awesome design for just about every planet. I popped it into creative and converted it to regular steel and basic turrets for easy spawnability, but beautiful work. You use the interior space phenomenally well. Very accessible.
I don't know if people think it's a good thing or not but I kind of like it. I didn't like the idea of my turrets hitting their targets 100% of the time unless it's a homing missile..
I just wish we could set a language in our preferences, then have the forum software automatically translate users posts into our specified language.
OH I do too but it's something entertaining about the drone being able to dodge one turret just for a little while before you take it out. I think it would be better if PVs and freighters were tougher in this game.
If the Drones were actually dodging, that'd be one thing... but I don't honestly think the Drones have the brains to try something akin to any way shape or form of 'Evasive Maneuver'... no strafing, no trying to get out of the way of the projectile... no nothin. Instead they often brainlessly straight line, but sometimes brainlessly straight line at an angle & the Turrets are merely sometimes missing their shots IMHO.
Good point. I never thought of it like that. I guess this has more to do with the updates to the turrets than to the Drones. I think the turrets were made slower or something in one of the last few updates.
Does increasing difficulty level make the enemies into bullet sponges too? Or does it simply make them faster and thus able to dodge bullets better? (Also anyone notice if increasing difficulty makes them deal more damage?) Imo, having higher difficulty settings increase the bullet sponge-y-ness of enemies is a lazy practice and isn't much fun. On the other hand though... If increasing difficulty makes them more crafty or dodge or otherwise fight back better, etc, that sounds like a real winner! (Btw- I've only ever tried normal difficulty so far.)
Oh yeah... now that ya mention it, awhile ago, Turrets mighta got a Rotation Speed nerf. Can't remember the specifics anymore though... just that I remember that it made me sad.
