Hey guys i need some qick advice. Which version do you think looks better: Flat: Starfleet -style It's just a WIP to show the changed configuration. A connecting "neck" or something similar will be added if i decide to use that style. So, what do you think?
Stick with the flat. You're starting to develop your own style, 'Starfleet' version feels like a step backwards.
It's tempting, because it adds "depth" to the design and apart from that, Andrew Properts design (the man who designed the Galaxy Class, which this ship is a mild hommage to) is just so damn good imo. I'm really not sure...
I think that you should develop your style to the point where people will want to design ships that look like yours.
Found an extensive field of boulders surrounded by fiber, aloe and other good plants. I was picking away like I got paid for it when I recalled that one of the good folks here mentioned that boulder busting would yield more ores now. So I started doing that too. The screenie shows how much stuff I harvested between sun up and sundown. This is at plain vanilla Medium settings.
+1 to that. Between looting, boulder busting and swatting drones I have a few hundred cobalt ingots and a dozen or so cobalt alloy. I haven't yet tackled the abandoned mine, drone base or the Titan. So much for, "OMG there's no cobalt!"
Worked on a new base a little bit, the lower section needs to be moved, but the tools were nerfed before I had a chance to get it done, now it's a huge pain to move block by block. Nice to have new tools that don't work. The base looks fairly simple, but is honeycombed with tunnels and passages between levels and below the water. I noticed that the terrain gets deleted if you fly around the planet enough, and it only comes back when you leave the atmos and return again. Makes for some nice ocean images though.
I've been feeling a little bummed lately. I just put in all this work redoing sections of my station but with the new textures additions I'm going to have redo all that work too. The perfectionist in me demands it but I think what I'm going to do is finish what I have and give it another texture pass later after it's been published. Mostly. /can't resist touching up a few things

Now look what happened. I fooled around with the new textures in creative and then I went and built this in survival. Hopefully it will wear off and I can get back to building dugouts out of raw concrete blocks. Past experience has me working on the inside before the outside.
