Updated my Sakaala with the new juicy 1.5.0 consoles and fixed a few texture issues... Been taking a day off, as my head is spinning with the issues my son has, playing the game :S
I think we should have lower tier materials AND higher tier materials. I didn't suggest renaming what we got now to something Sci-Fi cause I figure we Crash Land on a Planet & kinda have to start over & work our way back up to the top, not crash land on a Planet & pull a Planetary Gilligan's Island STARTING with End Materials. That's just silly! I figure later on down the road Progression will be like we gotta start at the bottom & 'Macgyver (Sp?) up' a idiotic Steel Ship that has its hands full just 'working', then could Mine Asteroids & the Moon for Materials to make a (by this realm's standards) 'primitive' Futuristic Ship outta maybe something like Titanium that can at least get around the Galaxy, then find the Sci-Fi Materials to make the (By this Realm's standards) Modern State of the Art Ships & Weapons that are total Sci-Fi awesomesauce. IMHO this is how I envision Progression roughly goin someday. How would this become possible if the 'caveman' materials like Steel are just cut out of the game & if this game says that this cool named Sci-Fi Material acts primitive & is a joke to even the likes of a HV Artillery Turret? Lame imho.
I don't want to start this convo in this thread, maybe we can revive the old one but here is what I meant and want yes progression through different material is very much wanted, what I don't want is the lowest tier material should not be the lowest tier material of today, It should be the lowest tier material of 2400 Earth ..It maybe the steel but what about adding some si-fi prefix... sure... but steel??? out primitive ship don't even use steel (never used even).. whats wrong with Aluminum, if devs (or whomever) wanted to keep the game more grounded in reality(?) then Al is more logical choice then Steel... you are making ship out of it and it is withstanding multiple plasma burst, it is definitely not primitive...
In the 24th century, a archaic Pistol & Assault Rifle can apparently still serve as 'emergency defense' even if it's not 'epic defense'. Oh, I like the sound of Aluminum. That might be Suggestion worthy. Might still need bits of Steel here & there for Components & such though. Plasma Burst (200 damage per shot) & Artillery Turret (700 damage per shot) are NOT the same Ballpark. I directly specified 'Artillery Turret' before, as it's a Final Tier HV Gun. P.S. My latest going ons in Empyrion is to not be able to play it for a couple days cause of RL, so i'm trying to stay constructive & sane by Debating about Empyrion stuff instead.
Been working on the Gargoyle Destroyer interior. Got a nice, thick shell in place that should prevent splash damage from hitting explodables (O2 tanks, Fuel tanks, possibly ammo boxes), and then moved on to furnishing and texturing. I decided to take a bit more sane of an approach than the MC Escher stairways and general confusion, and basically decided each floor would have a central hallway, with elevators at either end. I also decided to mark my elevators to make ship navigation easier. Basically, the very bottom floor is 1, and so it goes up to level 6. Wherever there is an elevator, I used the symbol tool to do two things: 1.) Mark the number of the floor the player would currently be on while looking at it, and 2.) using the arrow symbol to indicate which directions the elevators run. This way, at a glance, you can get a general sense of where you are on the ship, and where you can go on the ship, just looking at the elevators. The hull and walls are 95% hardened steel, with 5% regular steel making up some less-vital areas. I'm constantly surprised how big a difference the color and texture tools make. Untextured/unfurnished floor (notice the numbers and arrows at the elevators indicating which way the elevators go, and which floor you are on): Textures/Furnished floor (much of the area behind the camera is divided into rooms, with this main hallway/lounge areas taking the middle: Another textured and furnished floor (you can see where the hallway narrows, which is where the rooms come in) And what I have so far in the Farm area (just now realized I have the colors of the light/plot indicators mixed up... oh well )
Ya Reds need those Arrows to tell ya that ya use Elevators to go up or down in them... fascinating! Us GMTs have never needed such visual aids for our Elevators.
Heh, I do remember hearing you say you were lost in project barracuda... This is so that doesn't happen
I use my Hopper transports for large stations and ships. Pretty much just a spotlight with all the parts it needs to fly on it. Though you can add a single weapon under the hull and it becomes a Wasp fighter This is it parked under the Mk2 Rifter on the deck of my monster hull: Spoiler
I've also been experimenting with creating ships from this page (or at least, trying to) http://crimsondark.wikia.com/wiki/Spaceship
I joined darkcloudninja's server and he sonofabitch friendstalked me down on steam and played the dirty admin card ingame when I blocked him for being a dirty hackin goof. Aggressive Badmins are gonna ruin this game.
Been busy today. When War brakes out again GMT will be there to help all those in need of First Aid. GMT will also be ready to help others that don't have transport or have had a brake down. Two fully equipped Rescue vehicles will be on stand by should you shout out to me or any GMT that needs a Rescue vehicle for a Emergency. Both units have 2 extra seats for transport. SV constructor, on board oxygen, fridge, extra storage. All medical supplies, food and materials for repairs. Both units handle very well so no need to be worried about transport. Edit: In my excitement I didn't get this GMT approved yet. What you think GMT Boss?
Welp, I attempted to do some YAML edits today to apply arachnicide and rid all future games of spiders. The game promptly began throwing errors at me when I tried to load or start any survival game. Creative loaded fine, that was odd. But when I put the backed-up YAML files back in place, the game worked normally again. The spiders beat me...this time. *sigh* Why does every freaking game I enjoy have to end up infested by the horrible creepy demonic arachnid monstrosities? I hate spiders, and the Empyrion devs modeled the kind that give me chills and nightmares. They only come out at night...right? I am now scared of this game.
I can see your pain. The only thing i can tell you is: don't go out at night (unprepared). I am early in my survival so i am more than glad to stay in my base (first survival cave) when the night comes. I'll stay outside in the dark when i have the ammo and the turret to shoot every predator at the place where i want to go. ;-)
GMT should also have a "Fuel Rats" division. Can't jump out of system because your ship is out of Popsicletanium? FUEL RATS TO THE RESCUE!
Yes I see lots of people looking for warp drive crystals. Really think this is way to hard. First you have to get out of orbit. Fly down to a planet. You have to find a body of water. Swim all over the bottom of the lake/river look and look for them. Night time is next to impossible to find any. Then you have to take them back to base and produce the final produce.
Go to Akua's moon. They're really easy to find there. I've come back from there with a full inventory of them.
The crystals are on Omicron Moon as well and yeah, it's the easiest way to get the crystals. I've got an outpost on Akua Moon in the middle of plain full of 'em.
