Anyone knows, if it's possible to fly a CV in "another direction" ? This is the inner space of my Sphere; you see two pilot chairs, showing in different directions. But the ship is NOT moving in another way NOR is the 3rd persion view changing... :-(
Used to be you could only drive in north/south/east/west (the ways it allows you to place the chairs with normal rotation) I just loaded a ship with a pilot chair for each direction to check and that still seems to be the case, but using selection copy to flip a chair so it's bottom is on a up/down wall didn't work, view and WASD controls were as if the chair was placed with bottom on the "normal" plane. (sorry if that's confusing heh) My guess is they haven't yet programmed in directional piloting for vertical mounted chairs, since that only became possible with selection box rotating.
I'm still puttering around with my compact CVs. I did some structural work on all of them to work out certain issues with forward thrusters, the entry doors, and not resting flat on the ground when parked. The Miranda I added some grow plots so I had to raise the roof over that section. I'm still trying to design a dome of some sort to cover that and work out the interior. I added a few more projects to my list. I tinkered with the Cylon raider a bit but that's going to be a huge job and I started on a refit for the Corellia 1. Someone else's ship. Beautiful exterior design but the avionics were a mess so I ripped out the interior. I'll get the flight systems worked out and then redo the interior and I still need to work out those sensors for the Falcon's entry doors/ramps. I've been scrounging for more ideas for compact CVs too. I converted some HVs in my blueprint list to CVs just to see what they'd look like. I think I might do something with a couple of them.
Well at least you won't get bored anytime soon Luckily for me I've pretty much hit the end of my to do list. I've got all the bits from my own bp list on steam that I wanted to, so I've got time to get started on something new. I might try doing a decent compact starter CV myself. Maybe something that can be expanded upon as more resources become available. could be an interesting challenge to make sure its not too expensive to build in the first place but has enough space to improve engines fuel etc as you gain more in the way of resources all while trying to keep it small.
today's project for me has been converting that HV from yesterday into a SV, and spending way to much time experimenting with lighted trim. Now I have to figure out a color scheme and name again I'd like to try converting it to a CV next, when I figure out how
I see you are checking out the Acari, that ship is nice but has a problem in first-person view when you are flying it. Thankfully there is an easy fix, just remove the upper steel plate and replace it with glass. I agree with you, some of those converted HV's would make excellent CV's.
I think I have the same 'problem' as you Siege. Ideas flow too easily & being distracted then forgetting is a real threat. So its best to get enough of the project done so that idea is preserved. Of course while doing this the ol brain is spewing out more plans so before you get to complete that it's off to another. And every now n then you actually *complete* a section and can move on to the Actual next step in your process. lol I get the impression you're used to this as your Creative zone is a lot neater than mine hehe
Dammit, now I feel bad that I haven't stuck at least one HHG reference into UrgiCorp lore.. yet.. ^^ To this day 'Gods message to the Universe' makes me crack up Does anyone here know of a Free decent & versatile GIF creator? Everything I've looked at so far is too limited, not free or is just outright bad. Currently it's looking as though I might have to animate this manually using cheatsy techniques. Which are also very time consuming & fidgety.. [Edit: Oh my. I found a free open-source application that should deal with my animation needs AND it turns out it's better than my current image editing software... I can do actual text layers with this that I can edit later without having to retype (and/or move text pixels) it all! Now I have to learn that. The project will likely be delayed BUT when you next see a sneak peek it'll be much more impressive ^^
Today I continued my survival game, finished scrapping the rear section of the Titan, an used the steel plate and rock dust I got from digging it out to build my new base. Started exploring the area, and found the front part of the Titan not far from my base. I also found an enemy outpost not too far away, I took out the turrets with my bomber then paid them a visit with my HV. Knock, knock...
So, uhhh, turns out I might actually have talent... Getting access to these new tools & adusted interface is akin to me first designing in EGS after being used to 8 block shapes and colors only. I'm currently experimenting with the editing and animating side at the same time and am busy making something nifty for you guys to see & ponder upon. (You'll see what I mean when I post it later) And me being me, even though it's an experiment, I am injecting a 'story' as such ^^
