In my learning progression the recent OreMaw - 1 - is the most recent, where I was seeing how much engineering I could stick into one vessel without my head exploding (It was close. lol), while still having decent shape to interior n exterior. The Taxicab above was my first look into Signal circuits and shaping experimentation. This next vessel made after the Cab and before OreMaw, and was because I had need for a cheap early interplanetary ship & also wanted to go ham with shape testing. The inside makes me sad, but it had to be as cheap and functional as possible. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ URGICORP PRESS RELEASE: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ UrgiCorp are proud to present our budget introduction to warp capable vessels, the SensorFly! This stylish exploration vessel is well equipped to help you go get the sathium you'll need to complete a larger more armored ship. Complete with everything you need to survive an extended mining session or scouting run. Basic automation as standard. All for the low low price of iron, copper, silicon and cobalt! UrgiCorp: Forging Tomorrow! ====================== Features: Automatic Lights Automatic Doors Automatic Ramp Toggleable Auto-Close Shutters Complexity Class: 1 (Size Class) Class: A Classification: Prospector Cost: Budget Utility: O2 Station, Armor Locker, Mobile Constructor, Fridge Armaments: Chain Gun. Sufficient to defend against a space drone, but if you see anything big you'd best leave. Fast. Cargo Capacity: 2 Boxes Pilot Skill: Medium. Easy enough to fly, medium skill purely because if you aren't good at dodging enemy fire you could have a problem on your hands a looong way from home. Considerations: Not the fastest at turning, but it seems better when in 3rd-person. Might just be me. Your warp core is behind you, the same place that foes will fire at when you're fleeing. Slide randomly sideways as you travel to help dodge incoming fire. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1215081882
We should get some collaborations going. I'll bet that between a shape wizard, a decoration master and a systems specialist we could make something seriously impressive and possibly overboard. ^^
It's actually a CV just sitting on the ground, not a BA. It began that way so that I could quickly swap parts without worrying about SI on-planet, but then I turned it into a floaty thing.
Try moving them back to their original locations, or even closer to the front/rear pivot point of the vehicle. You may have them too far forward, and when you rotate the front of the craft's nose down, their "sides" are hitting before the tips.
The two middle drills are shorter than the rest. I've found that making them all the same length helps. Getting the initial hole started is sometimes a matter of using the hover booster to jump into the air and then turn the nose sharply into the ground so you're vertical facing the ground. To assist this I've added 6 more RCS(trying to get the pitch close to 3.00 degrees). Also two more forward thrusters for getting back out of the hole. I don't know how much or if having things like the guns and docking pads sticking out farther than the drills interferes. I removed the front docking pads and hover boosters and that did seem to help make it a bit more controllable.
I might have updated my signature. Less crisp but more eye-catching I think ^^ [Edit: It has a long animation cycle; To force it to the 'start' use Ctrl-F5 for force a full refresh.]
Are you putting the forward hover motors on a switch? I can easily get close to vertical when I turn them off.
I replaced the nacelles with half-warp rings (similar like the Distant Horizon has) which allowes a hangar bay in the main body of the ship. Now that i see both ships side by side, i think the original version (right) looks much more elegant or "cleaner"... What do you think?
Both have their own charm. For the version on the left I'd recommend just going with a smaller hangar in the primary hull because the hangar doors disturb the clean planes on top of the ship. Maybe use shutters on motion sensors instead of hangar doors.
@Neal We had a conversation in another thread. You asked what a CV need. Maybe look at my interpretation of a PVE CV! I know, it's far from being comparable to your nice crations. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1214933850 I just uploaded it yesterday and it's what I did in Empyrion today (OK, yesterday ) P.S. Steam description follows! Was I too lazy yesterday!
I like them both, but Meknet makes a good point about the right-hand version. Visually, the wider/rounder front ring works very well for the left-hand model. For the right, I'd suggest something more narrow and sleek - more Sovereign- than Galaxy-class. Otherwise, got nothing to add 'cept that they look bloody awesome.
If I had to choose, left. The right one looks lacking something to me, too front heavy. Personally, I wouldn't mind a copy of both!
@SirKnumskull @binhthuy71 @MEKNET1977 @Razorwire @Kieve Thank you all for your nice comments! Really appreciated! My initial feel was that the left ship was too similar to the ones i did in the last months, especially the Distant Horizon (if you are interested you can find images of her a few pages back), while the right version looks more sleek and less cluttered (imo). I've made the saucer ring a bit more narrow and tried to made the small "saucer" look more sleek, previously it looked like a hat that is too small. The big hangar doors got replaced by shutter doors (@SirKnumskull thanks for the tip, it looks way better now!) I hope the coloring makes the ship look less front heavy (i just LOVE the galaxy class like style, it creates some neat/interesting and unique visuals from various angles). aaargh... don't you know that i'm the (probably only) guy on the internet who hates the §&$%&§$% Sovereign?!? EDIT: I'll probably keep both ships, i'll going to make them different ship types (frigate or corvette)
Is far better! In my opinion, the ring should not be so wide. Front slightly slimmer in the total width. The shutters look much better. I totally agree with you because of the color scheme - It takes out the optical dominance of the front a bit! Edit says: Translation error corrected!
Shutters are *much* better looking than Hangar doors on that ship. I'll be looking forward to the other version more though
Good or bad distraction? If you had no idea what UrgiCorp was and you saw it, would you be tempted to click to see where it leads? [Edit: Going to a static image again would mean it looks a LOT crisper, so I'm tempted.]
