Just a couple changes, rounded off the ends and posted the pod http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1262076556
I really like this thing. The "deployable" look is just awesome. Kinda want to see a whole line of these now, or try one of my own. I could probably use a break from this Synthesis stuff anyway... Progress on the NXT has been slow (oh, so painfully slow) but steady. The exterior is more or less finished, though I've had to make a few revisions here and there to accommodate tweaks in the SV component. I brought her down to Ningues' surface for a while, to see how she looked in good daylight. Originally I'd thought to do more of a gull-wing design, with the central bridge riding lower than the outer wing sections, but it just wasn't looking right. Still, with a little fiddling I've managed to get an entry ramp installed and wired. The one big thing the NXT is missing is a hangar door - with the smaller Soleil designs, entry was from the rear of the bridge. However, these two were designed to be compact space-savers and meet a challenge of minimum requirements. The NXT is no such beast, and the focus is more on comfort and living quality this time around. The gravity generator occupies the central space in the ship's rear section... though I may consider moving it to the right wing. People do need a place to park their HVs / SVs, after all. That, and the low hum can easily be heard in the private cabin - with as much room as the NXT has to offer, I can afford to consider 'noise pollution' as one of the design guidelines. So for now, I'm just going room by room, picking away at details and design elements, "fancying up" as it were, and then moving on to the next one. Warp drive and Constructor areas were the first, Bridge is mostly done, Cabin is getting there (about 30% I'd say), and Warp Engineering is almost finished. (There was going to be only one Engineering section, but I discovered the Warp Tank actually puts out heat & radiation - previous location in the Warp Drive was a safety issue) Progress continues...
@Kieve , your and @Jenniphurr 's ships are really nicely done & very cool. So well done that I can't tell where the SV is in either one...?! Your counts are still accurate Tyrax. Sorry but can't speak to whether >21 weapons causes issues since I don't build that large . Can only say last night I had all turrets just go dumb after working okay for a few space plasma drones. But running on a potato and CV only had 4x Cannon, 4x Mini, 2x Plasma & 2x manual rockets launchers. And the Drill Turret on it's nose, which the drones seemed obsessed with, heh. Btw, not too long ago I looked for a basic attack SV on workshop like @Pekiti , and had a hard time sorting through all the builds. Is it just me or could the Workshop really use a much finer grain set of 'search for' boxes? Here's a quick ss of the quick & dirty attack SV I built. Mounts six weapons in nose. Haven't swapped out 4 gats for H-Missiles yet. Can't see it but there's a single block wall between weapons and nose of cabin & O2 tanks underneath cab. Core is right behind cab. Single 1x3x1 thruster in each direction. 2x RCS, single gen, 2x fuel, 1x ammo, O2 station, 3x O2, 3x cargo. Shutters covering intake/exhaust of engines. Armored windows over cockpit. The yellow angled spotlights allow entrance, though I am exploiting shine-through. Any advice/critique/example is welcome. Especially since I rarely go after defended POIs .
Now try on one with an ARM processor... first gen Surface.. really unlikely to happen since I would need to; get the source code from Valve, compile it for ARM, and then ask Microsquash pretty pretty please with sprinkles on top... and ya know? I just don't see it happening. Feh. Parts are ordered now I just twiddle thumbs a bit. Now. What I Really Want is FOR THIS TO BE A REAL THING. sorry just a really nifty idea. @Brimstone @Kieve 2020! why vote for the lesser of two weevils?
Seems I either post too much or too less that none mentions my DroneHunters when a Combat-SV is needed. There seems to be something wrong... For a cheap one try the MKII (Original or Military EA or Colored EA) Still small but with Warp, get the WarpHunter (Original or Colored) Best Combat Fighter in my Arsenal, the MARK 5 (Original or Military Warp or Military EA or Colored EA Warp)
I looked at those recently; beautiful ships & very manuverable. Honestly not sure I could fly them very well since it's really not my thing. Need more of a flying tank, that can absorb more damage than it should have too, because it takes me a bit to line up for a shot . Basically your ships are more F16's while I think I need something more A-10 Warthog like .
No problem, the Contender is here for you: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1207159765 Lots of armor and internal separation of devices to keep your loot safe. While it has decent armor all around it features a hardened shell around the already enclosed cockpit without sacrificing visibility! Seats three, nine large cargo boxes, warp, constructor, armor locker, fridges - it is all there.
I'll slide you a couple testbeds to get your opinion. I too zig when I should zag and only like to shoot once or twice per target to good effect. I have a few methods that used to be able to take a couple of dozen hits on the nose from POI AAA. They are, like the A-10, too ugly to be seen in public though
I love my Bee colony. Two-seat Workbee, fully equipped. See your =Con=Am= representative for a test drive!
That's a beaut! I'll have to give yours, @rucky s & a few others a try once I get to, and settled on Oscutune. Working on a 'full system tour' playthrough, first one since 6.x, and enjoying seeing all the planets. @Hicks42 , that'd be great, though it sounds like it would play into my severe weakness for function over form... heh. When I posted up ships in the workshop for Robot Sharks's challenge I considered using "Fugly Heavy Industry" as the company name.
I stripped the carrier husk for every bit of salvage I could, then went hunting for the Freighter. It seems to have vanished, though. After dumping my loot and restocking ammo/etc, I went to the asteroid field to look for mining opportunities. I spotted what looked like some twisted metal junk deep in the asteroids (which were a sphere, not a belt like on Akua). THAT turned out to be a good fight, it was a Shipyard with pretty decent AAA, and it spawned Space (Plasma) Drones as fast as I could kill them. I used the rocks as cover and worked my way around it and into close range, dodging fast green drone fire, and slow red station fire the whole time, lots of fun. Then I aligned myself with its long axis and started punching a hole through the center with my rockets, and I knocked out the Shipyard's power in some kind of chain reaction of explosions. The spawns stopped, and so did the AA, so I rushed it, and parked my ship inside one end of the station. Without gravity, it was awkward, but I eventually explored the whole thing and found the core. Blew the core up, placed my own, then had to go back to my ship, manufacture a small generator and place it. Station gravity came on, and I ran around salvaging all the good stuff, but I left the station shell in tact, even patched up a big section of it to retain O2 and power. Never know when you'll want a base in an asteroid field. I was feeling pretty good, so I went to the moon and surveyed the whole thing. Found three Defense stations (easy kills, once I discovered the weak point) and a new-to-me type of Drone Base. That too proved to be an entertaining tactical puzzle, but I captured it mostly intact. So at the end of the day I have now apparently knocked out or captured every enemy POI in the Omicron system. The star map shows the two adjacent planets are Aestus and Zeyhines, and I don't think I have been to either before, so this will be fun. Time to stock up on supplies and take a little warp tour of the neighbors.
So today I decided to pop into EGS for a bit, try out some SP action. But Steam has randomly decided the game isn't installed, despite the fact all the files are there and I just successfully ran it directly from the exe. What the actual f... [Edit: Well then, I wasn't expecting steam to actually be intelligent... [2nd Edit: I went about 20 meters before I started to question my decision to venture out at night...
We should start a support group. JCMP "Just Can't Make it Pretty" . Along with our slogan " It Works Though. " Fugly Functionals. Would be a better product line name. More of a Pop. It is all yours. Weyland-Yutani already owns my soul.
just added crap ton of blanks for everyone to use check them out http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=1254195843
