To Jenniphurr....how is it possible that we start with the same blocks and tools and you end up with High end gallery pieces and I end up with a cardboard box that has been smushed? Also I was so excited I went straight to the workshop to take a look......sad face.....
I booted up Empyrion for the first time in the past week (impatiently waiting for news on 8.0 so trying to calm my anxiety down by staying away for a little) to do a quick check of GPU usage in-game, and realized how nice the visuals are even in Alpha upon first spawn.
I have almost exactly the same thoughts. I go full-ham on a build, then Jenniphurr releases something offhand and I sit for like 10 mins looking at it stealing ideas *cough* I mean.. learning.
That is called inspiration and that is how you grow! I am always looking at photos, shapes and anything really. All to just get inspired to build something. If someone has a unique idea, I try to expanded or incorporate that idea. But that doesn' always work and when it doesn't work you end up with lots of failed builds/save files. I have to many to count now lol!

I know what you mean, i have only little time right now and since there might be more information about patch 8.0 "soonish" i am pretty much waiting for news about what is coming for my actual builds. Just doing some refitting on my Grizzly and Atlas HVs. The Atlas actually has "some" space for a few LCDs and some are already placed. While i highly doubt i will place lights in all the places needed (or setting up signal logic for some devices) i guess i could make the interior looking a lot better by using some decorative LCD designs. And if Eleon is not enabling the use of custom made PNGs or JPGs (except the occasional peen-pics i can only imagine that incorporate and transmitting custom pics for Blueprints can be difficult to implement), i hope you don't mind using yours.
Truth. I have 4(?) published ships, and recently cleared my personal non-sub BPs down to a mere 50 or so. I've had to start a new save because I'm lagging my own solo client in my build save...
Haha yeah! Recently i've seen someone doing a save file for every single structure. I think that is too much, but i'll do a save file per 'Brand line'. @Theurgist, no worries its just the same with everyone... we're probably all in awe and wonder when watching other builds here, 'discrediting' our own work, beeing humble as we are..
Custom images almost certainly won't happen. German copyright risks, ask Hummel for details if you like. But I'll share a trick I used when making the Aetheria's keyboard LCDs: "Zalgo" text. Combining some of the subscript/superscript symbols in with the basic stuff allowed me to do things like the (<,) (>.) (/?) keys much more accurately. I'm certain there's a lot more that can be done with it, decoratively or otherwise, but I haven't invested the time to try it out yet.
I would be happy if the screen and text input screens matched each other. I tire of jumping in and out of an LCD to see if that one new space I added, lines everything up.
