These massive ships you guys are making are not real great for battle, little ships like the Horizon will turn it into swiss cheese , I think you would be a little insane to try and collect all the stuff you need for ships that big in survival, that little Horizon is around 48000 iron ingots alone I hate to imagine what some of these huge ships will use in ores. ! Some are like over 10 times bigger than the Horizon, like could you make me a bigger target possibly !!! Not much chance of my rockets missing thats for sure ! But anyway when your ready I will set up my server for a battle if you like.
Not today, but last night finished my very first CV. It's a carrier with a hanger on the bottom, thus it's bulkiness. I'm really pleased with how it turned out myself!
Unfortunately I'm at work currently so can't answer properly. IIRC though fore and aft speed is 19m/s port, starboard and up/down is around 12m/s It's armed with a mix plasma cannons, miniguns and regular cannons and hosts 4 docking bays for small to medium sized SVs. Hallways and vital rooms are covered by sentries although the arboretum and sick bay have no such coverage. The fuel tanks are also segregated by a hardened steel block and there are 12 of them in the main fuel room with an additional 6 enclosed in the back of the ship well away from anything explody. Even in atmo I believe she has around 50 minutes worth of flight time. The whole ship is also made out of hardened steel with vital areas, like the core and direct access to the bridge reinforced with combat steel. Though I'd like to reinforce the top and bottom with it eventually as well. I'll take a proper stat as when I get home
Aww... that Mini-Romulan Bird of Prey is adorable! In my defense my Tyrax Dragon Transport is dominantly for hauling my SVs & HVs around above all, though I wanted her to be able to be a 'Violent Support' too in case of trouble. Looks sweet, & a hell of a lot better then my first ever CV. I'm partway through my next try at building a Hover War Tank. Already got partway through a first Body then got stuck on it & am on the second Body trying to figure out how to make it work. HVs could REALLY use Armored & Slant Thrusters.
Currently HV's ARMORED thrusters are burying them inside the body behind armor Game allows it... use it while it lasts! LOL!
Progress update on orbital station- Finished utility room beneath the ComCenter with medic station, clone chamber, O2 station and cargo/ammo boxes: Also finished the the lower and upper entries to the main elevator/ventilation shaft. Upper entry: Lower entry:
Wow that looks incredible!! Today I had the unfortunate pleasure to be shot down and marooned on Aestus after attempting a rescue of a friend who suffered a similar fate. He had ventured there to mine Erestrum and during one of his flyovers came under heavy fire crash landing next to a pool of lava and still within range of the turrets. He died seven times running to freedom and during this time I had boarded my small attack craft, slapped a passenger compartment on it and was on my warp gate heading to the planet. When I arrived and eventually found him he was being chased by a parade of horrors. Unfortunately he died to low O2 almost as soon as I spotted him. He respawned and I picked him up and this is where things go wrong. Even though he warned me the place was crazy dangerous I figured my ship was quick enough we could do a quick buzz of the crash site and see if there was anything salvageable or if his backpack survived. Worst idea ever. Turns out it wasn't just one POI, rather two, PLUS the the Drone Base all clustered together. I have never come under so much fire before. The instant we got within range of his wreck the entire hellish horizon lit up as plasma and cannon fire streaked my way. I dipped and dodged a number of shots and took a few potshots at one of the bases. As I was dodging and weaving however I noticed something even more horrifying, a swarm of drones. There had to have been nearly a dozen there. His time trying to escape the crash site had spawned and called tons of drones to the area and now they were set upon me. The swarm closed in so I dove and rolled to drop out of flak range and make an escape under the drones. Second bad idea. The drones lit me up like a Christmas tree. It was as if I was taking even more fire than the flak was dishing out. My ship is study but during the roll the drones managed to pop my underbody directionals exposing a bit of my guts and then worse thing that can happen on an itty bitty ship did. They ruptured my fuel tank. It exploded and managed to take out my RCS module as well. My roll suddenly turned into a death spiral, completely out of my control like some kind of movie. We narrowly missed a pool of lava and came crashing down in a crater, thankfully out of the firing line of the POI defenses. Not sure of the damage to the ship and fearing the drones finishing it off my friend and I leap out and hoof it into the distance. We both die. Terribly. Several times. He eventually calls it quits and respawns on Akua while I'm determined to save my backpack if possible (I was carrying 3 epic weapons) I eventually managed to retrieve my backpack and retreat to my ruined ship however that was not without a hoard of Nightmares chasing me. And that's how I spent my night. Trapped on a hellish world with demons clawing at the thin, damaged glass around me while inside my own body an alien parasite grew. Thankfully this morning I woke to find my friend had come back with a righteous fury and level the bases while another friend left a supply drop of needed parts and syringes on my ship. I was able to fly back to the warp gate and make it home. Battered and bruised but alive, and my ship was in remarkably good condition all things considered. I only lost 3 directionals the fuel tank and the RCS.
That's a really great idea. If you have a BP ready in the factory can you still queue up new projects? Could you potentially have a fleet of SVs waiting and ready?
I've got my new CV Spawned in... but didn't go quite right. For details, check out my Bug Report on the 1.7.1 Bug Report Thread. Also FINALLY getting my lazy ass to work on getting Iji Ammo'd up.

I would argue against this, for the sake of all your designs not becoming obsolete in a couple or few months. If your going to hide thrusters leave a 2 block gap between them and the next block on the side the thrust comes out of or pay the price when it changes !
