While I plan to post more pics of ACHILLES and AJAX (the stretched version), as well as some other builds, I have no plans on publishing anything beyond this thread at this time. I've already spent more time on this than I intended. And starting AJAX was totally unplanned. Of course, like everything else in this game, it's subject to change.
Well,,,,,, if you really want it, you'll have to tell (and show) me how to do it. LOL (no, seriously)
I have something to ponder, a suggestion received through message on Steam. Do I try for something compatible with @Jenniphurr's SV-CV, freighter and cargo container, combination? It would be neat if there were compatible options to choose from. However, I don't think the Raven and Carri-On will be those. Spoiler: Pics I may have subscribed to Jenniphurr's blueprints, but until today I had not actually taken a look at them in a game. Her combination wasn't the only such I have subscribed to. So I spawned both her two as well @The Tactician[ Λ ] Aegis cargo ship and its matching container in my creative game alongside the Raven and Carri-On. Taking a look at their cargo solutions for the first time in game. The ZeroG and Aegis SV look like cargo containers and it shows in more than just the appearance. Sure, the Carri-On has the same general block appearance, but it actually has windows. As for docking, the Carri-On and ZeroG container are actually very similar in principle. The "clamps" help guide you into the proper position and the gap* is roughly the same. Differences for sure, but the basics felt very similar as I tried to dock, biggest difference is one I was docking by flying sideways in the clamp and the other up into the clamp. As for the Aegis cargo container, docking that was more, um, challenging but it was my first time trying to do so. I gather with practice I could probably get lots of storage attached to the accompanying CV. The Aegis cargo ship in this sense might be the truest freighter among the CV. However, I suspect big portion of the difference reflects a differences in philosophy. For example, the Carri-On actually is the freighter for my combo pair. If the final version gets too heavy, I will rebuild to point some of those side thrusters downward to ensure the Carri-On can handle up to 3 times standard gravity, or as close to that as I can manage, because the Carri-On is supposed to handle the basic work itself. Unfortunately for me, the Carri-On is the least practical of these builds. Still mostly just an incomplete hull with thrusters and yet my SV already is size class 6. I wouldn't be surprised if my final is over class 10. [edit] *gap: as in both SV are actually just a tiny fraction narrower than the gap between their respective guiding clamps. The fact that the Carri-On is actually the freighter portion of my combo pair also shows in the CV. The Raven is really a space defense platform with warp drive and it shows. Both the ZeroG and Aegis freighters could fly loops around it, by a big margin. Those two freighters are well suited to transporting their cargo SV into and out of gravity situations where the the SV itself cannot properly fly. The Raven? Not so. The Raven is really just an extended range warp drive for one or two of my SV freighters. I did try docking the ZeroG cargo container to the Raven, but I am guessing that either I was missing the target, or SV landing gear won't dock to CV landing gear. The Carri-On actually has landing gear on its roof to dock to the rail above, and dampen impacts there. But the door for the Raven is on the side.... I'll have to ponder more to see if there is a way to dock the ZeroG module, but currently I am thinking that making a compatible arrangement might require a completely different SV - CV arrangement, perhaps something completely different than my Raven CV. [edit] It doesn't line up with the door quite right... But if I rethink the approach angle, it actually fit between the turrets... and docked.
This is the revised FSS-1. As shown, it is a complete SV to fly wherever. The original Fire Pump was an SV only in that it used an SV starter kit, adding just the fuel tank and generator to 'light-up'. It would then be spawned and 'dropped' to it's location without much accuracy. The FSS-1 is fully maneuverable for more precise positioning. Once placed, remove the cockpit and start hanging pipe using 'small block cylinders' (sounds like I'm talking about a Chevy engine )
And my last work as triptych dedicated to Empyrion. Three little flowers but beautiful made in anticipation of the best update so far. Thanks to Dev on your efforts to make the game what it deserves, the best.
lol... I made a home bread yesterday, dedicated to the PvP death cubes. Truth is I totally flopped the recipe... I think it's nice to see whatever Empyrion inspires, expecially if it's art. This origami shows patience and skill, for sure, and I have no doubt eLLe could apply it to a ship or anything. I thought of making some concept drawings myself for stuff in the game but I lack space and time... space and time...
it's unfortunate that docked vessels cannot tap into the mothership (or base) fuel supply. If one wants to keep FSS-1 lit up and humming, you'll have to fill the tank from time to time.
Once again I started to sleep and then got hit by an idea for a ship....4 hours later...Not quite ready for the reveal yet BUT I can say I finally made a round ship......round on the inside...lol......Half hearted inspiration from The new Lost In space....warning don't do it..it was horrible. I lasted 15 minutes and turned it off.
Well, I worked on my platform for my official entry as well as the extra racers I started. Plus, I am thinking the Raven will get some adjustments to my initial plan. Spoiler: Pics With the cut and paste tool, I widened the Raven CV by one block. Not to accommodate @Jenniphurr cargo container, that was the small bar seen between my "clamps". No, the Raven was widened to accommodate an update to the rear. As long it is possible to dock the one cargo container, then I am thinking that there might as well be a spot for @The Tactician[ Λ ] cargo container as well. It's not perfect, but at least you step right out through the forcefield from the cargo container. The problem is that I need to accommodate the door of the Carri-On which is off-center between the "clamps", while the cargo container is centered. An unofficial racer for Dragonfly Industries. And another for Inspiration Traders. Yes, the one central display platform is making the rounds between my four collections. Here's Sweet Lemons with optional racers to chose from, same number. One being the bike and the other the car, though due to its small size the car is hardly more stable than the bike but it does have a few more RCS for excellent turning. And the display stand for my official entry got some more work. As I said, if a base had spotlights I would have hung them right over the tops of the signs. As it is, I tried to improve the lighting both of the signs as well as the central area for the racer.
I'm getting my ass kicked by those damned motion sensors. I've never had this much trouble getting one to simply turn a light on and off. Blasted thing just flat is not working. I've always manged to get them working before. Today just must not be my day.
later today i plan to start on a star wars style base, tho im not to good on solo projects without visual reference to work from and gets ideas so i searched google and found a few to play with ideas for a lvl 10 base for a lvl 25 base ill be starting the lvl 10 base tomorrow
I have been working on making a Janus Heavy Carrier, this is what I have so far. I think I have the hull fleshed out, now I'm starting to remove hull plates for windows and decorating the interior. One big focus is making the roof over the port-side hangers/living quarters more interesting With 4 fly-through bays and an oxygenated landing pad on the roof, I hope folks will like it after I'm done.
