I built a small vessel in creative with max size to sill fit through a single hangar door (top up) (of course not length) wihtout looking just like a lunch box. But i noticed, i'm still bad in ship design (and even more bad in texturing. Is coloring broken in 8.6? I still didn't get how to color, besids of predefined textures). No specific reason, i just wanted to try it.
The color palette works. There's a 'configure' button on the bottom right now. There are even tabs you can add so you can have additional pages of colors. I suggest using the extra tabs to make your custom colors. That way you can apply those to the current page and reset the current page to default whenever you like without(theoretically) losing anything. Edit: tabs may not be entirely useful currently according to Frigidman?
zero g challenge was the first time I built anything to a level restriction, as typically I just build and use not considering what level is required for it. So I revisited my tiny Impossibee sv again and reduced from lvl 10 to 7. (btw this is the smallest open cockpit walkabout sealed survival sv on the workshop, prove me wrong lol) A minor sathium requirement of 20 which can be altered in creative by removing the 8 shutter vent blocks covering the thrusterports and headlights. it sucks that I have to use shutters as doors because a door is level 10. Know that resetting the 'current' page to default, will change all colors on the structure back to default. So if you had changed, say "pink" to "gold"... painted stuff on your structure... then went and reset the current page to default... all your gold paint will turn pink on that structure. However you can have different color palettes on different structures (each one keeps their own). Also know that all those 'tabs' on the top do not save or persist between playing the game. Even the same Saved Game will not keep them. If you want to keep a palette of colors you like, you'll need to make a basic blueprint and store the color palette on that (I'm hoping Eleon fix the tabs, or get rid of them for a proper saved list like we have with blueprint parts in the build helper).

I liked the comparments of the Vertigo Explorer X, however, for daily use they became unpractical and annoying. That and the fact that it had only normal steel and even upgrading with stronger thrusters made the thrust too weak for 3g planets, thus i've worked on a successor. The 'wet room area' was obviously inspired by @Ashrai 's nice Rakshasa. May I present you the Vertigo Explorer XX, unlocks at Level 20. Spoiler: pics

Well that's disappointing. Hopefully they get it sorted out because that's not terribly useful. I was kind of annoyed it didn't persist between different builds but at least you could copy/paste the colors easily enough. If the tabs don't persist at all then what's the point.
Is it wrong of me to snicker at those cute little sticky-out0thingies on the front ends of those Wings & imagine them like Matches ya can scrape on an Enemies's Hull to light'em up then torch that Enemy Base with...? Overall though, lookin rad! Looks total 24th Century!
Gradually building up toward a large winged SV that I will be very happy with but in the meantime I just built this. Aimed as a late game sv, fuel tanks and generators are scattered about and has sooo many thrusters, I am sure it wont be super easy to take it down via the power systems. While looking around in the workshop I found a very unique HV build. The Hover House. As for myself, I did a quick boredom build today. It's atypical for one of my builds, since it will go "boom" if the devs ever enable thruster burn. I have no plans to public it, but I thought folks might get a laugh. I think I am going to go over my workshop again and see if there are any other redundant builds for me to delete. (The CV mobile spawn points became obsolete when they added med bays and clone tanks to HV's).
