Made a hv with retractable turrets for a body haha Ok so I trimmed the edges with combat steel. It is small and nimble houses 4 plasma turrets and 1 artillery, very low profile. Closed cockpit with a secondary window screen and roof built around it for a little extra peace of mind. Designed for pve play against POI. May or may not be useful in a HV pvp battle Does have a constructor fridge and a cargo or 2 I call it the Black Veil

Got a couple HV miners updated / remade for A9 today. First one's the base model Drill Hole Maker Thing with 5,500L harvest container (around 1,000 iron ore, lots more if refined to ingots) and is about the same size as the ladybug. It doesn't have very many features, just drills, a turret, and a constructor. Open-air cockpit, and no armor at all. It's not very balanced, but I don't think it needs to be. Accidentally discovered a way to get 'free' acceleration in an HV as well.. if you tip forward with autobrake or thrusters off, the hover engine force gets translated into acceleration in the direction you're leaning. Had some fun cruising around a flat plains area and steering with q/e and braking by skidding the ground. Managed to make it this time with open fully open thrusters. Had a really hard time finding a place to add an ammobox that didn't connect with the harvest cargo extensions, eventually decided to give up the spotlight for an ammobox. With these new stealth drones that like to fire through tree canopies where you can't see them at all, a turret seems absolutely necessary on just about anything (the turret detects the drones even though the player can't). The second one I worked on was going to be a remake of the DHMT-MK3, but I decided to just call it Deluxe hover miner thing. It's a closed-cockpit w/ oxygen version and has a lot more features, including a heal station and 10,000L harvest storage. Had a hard time picking a cockpit shape for this one, I kinda feel like the one I ended up going with is over used, but it definitely has the clearest view out (and none of those weird green lights on the 'old' style cockpits), which is probably more important than looks. I'm trying a different spotlight configuration than I normally do. I want the spotlight to illuminate the ground so you can see while flying, but I do not want to loose O2 if it gets blasted.

Took a break from working on POIs to make a super cheap level 3 early game 2-person co-op HV for when my brother and I start a new game on a hard snow planet. Besides the bare essentials to fly an HV, it has a couple of lights, 3 cargo containers and room to stick a mobile constructor in the back. I love the new carbon blocks (forget what they're called). So cheap! First time using the new level 1 hover thrusters too. Those things are really energy efficient! I was getting the same errors myself with my own HV.
Well, the following design is NOT mine, I found it on the Workshop and could not get into contact with the (german?) Designer so I will only Post pictures of how I changed its appearance. The Original BP by McFly: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1578326068 The Original BP calls for a tiny CV that misses, as freely admitted by the Creator @McFly, a Warp Core. So I extended his Design so much that I could squeeze in the Warp Core without changing its original design. I also changed the texturing, added 2 Laser Drills and mounted a Rocket Turret by replacing its Minigun Turret. If landing on a Planet a Perimeter Defense with 2 Sentry Guns have been added. Its all a bit Cramped inside but I went out to space and mined a whole Promethium Asteroid together with almost the same amount of crushed Stone and it didn't reach the limitation of the Harvest Box. Picture shows the steps of changes than I tested it toward the Mini CV Challenge and it seemed to fit into 13x7 Hangar Door here I checked the Capacity of the Harvest Box and here its performance in Cruise mode Even if I did not create it ...I like it very much. Hey folks! I've been tinkering around lately. I really like the newly (?) added customizeable color palette and the retractable weapons.
I got round this problem by fitting the angled spot lights to the side of most of my vessels, angled into the bodywork and beam facing forward, next to weapons or thrusters
I'm testing Alpha 9 Exp, there is a lot of fun with new parts and logistics. I tried to build CV cargo container on HV (same size), and as a result I created a HoverTruck .
My CV builds have always been a little meh in this game. Though i'd take what ive learned from bases and create a new CV for Alpha 9. Took my inspiration from the Selaco from Aliens and the cargo ship from Dark Forces II; something really huge in size This is what I have so far - name tbc:
If I am going to remove hover thrusters from the Weka so it can operate in 2.0 g, then I need to consider the Reveal, Scout Nymph and Scout Bike. None of the originals of these can even hover in 2.0 g. Now on a couple of these I did put a thruster behind something I don't believe is "airtight". For a moment I debated making the bike front and back thrust only, but as it was sliding sideways down a very minor slope, I decided that side thrust would be necessary too. Like the other work I did in alpha 9 experimental, none of these have been pushed to the workshop yet. Considering that I submitted them all to the same challenge as the Weka, I am also keeping these updates to unlock level 3.
I dunno, you wait a week for a patch to fix problems so you can begin exp testing again, then you break it in 30 seconds of play by finding that all automatic doors shutters and ramps in game are broken >.< 30 seconds, cmon. Well anyway that was a big bringdown to my day as I was looking forward to a good day of testing exp 9 2075. On the other hand I did build something last night whilst waiting for this terribly broken patch to download from steam. Combat steel size 1 aimed at being a civilian mini mining ship, cheap warp whatever. Drill mounted underneath and exterior has about 8 sentry.
