Today i am building some more on a larger orbital base which has a landing-pad for one of my larger CV's (NSI Nidus). Spend a few days on it already. These things take some time but i love building big structures. Also got a boost from seeing two of my builds on the front page today Makes it even more fun to build when other people enjoy it as well.. Will post pictures of the Orbital Base later... right now it's subject of some change and additions.
What i meant was, i'm not a super fan of the newer movies and i really, really dislike ST: DIS. I love TNG (especially because of its humanistic mindset) and Enterprise (i'm probably the only one, lol). TOS is a classic in my mind and the movies 1-6 are great. Heck i really love the first one. (i know i'm weird, lol ) DS9 had great characters but it was too much war dumming for my taste (i know people like it because of that, but to me Star Trek is about preventing wars) and too many concepts that where established with TNG (like a enlightened humanity) where thrown overboard in favour of more violence and other things. VOY wasn't bad, but not really good either, it had too many wasted opportunities and it reduced the borg to a villian of the week. What a waste of good ideas. That's what i had in mind. For all i heard "The Orwell" is regarded as the better Star Trek series these days (compared to Discovery). I'm actually waiting for it to arrive on DVD so i can finally watch it.
@Neal Yes absolutly, maybe with a slightly more humoristic/sarcastic/slapstick approach than ST. OT: I made a Hangar 'today':
Well today been messing around with server stuff and broke up that time with some more work to my cargo ship. Mostly on a landing pad to go along with it! Much still to do but here we are~
Love the Style! May I say that it has a bit changed compared to your earlier Builds? Changed in a better way, of course!
My orbital home and current Project. The blueprint was white until todays update..... Just changed some textures and Colors, placed some regular deco blocks for CVs.. and booom… blueprint turned red
Thank you, but it doesnt seem to be this case. It is built in creative, and it isnt my first ship. I'd be aware if i had set any Portal, used a wrong core, planted veggies or anything alike. I've just removed all railings, walkways and even shutter Windows, to no Change. And just to be sure regardless, i've did a third check on everything, even plants and core… But everything is supposed to be ok. Just out of …. no idea…. i tried the prefabinfo… (it didnt used to work for me during 7 or 8 - at least not without alot of hazzle).. and it worked!! Ramps… small ramps..?! At first i was thinking of those new cool rampblocks. But no… it's been that single old rampblock we're having for ages already and which 'used to work' without issues in this regard… Shock, releave... strange…
Well... since Eleon hates us builders (am referring to the entry/exit of cockpits) i spend this morning changing the NSI Aranean. With a lot less hassle than i anticipated i made both its cockpits work. The inner cockpit does look a little worse imo (had to use shutterdoors to seal it off), but when the developers throws eggs at you, it's best to make an omelette and not let the eggs go to waste How it looks with the shutterdoors Hooked a motionsensor up with the 2 shutterdoors so they open when you stand 1 block away on the outside and also opens as soon as you leave the cockpit Also set up a LCD which is connected to same the sensor and activates the LCD when you are in the cocpit (lets you know the shutterdoors are closed behind you) This is the view when you leave the cockpit. Just have to make a little jump to get over the shutterdoor-frame and you are out
I made this warp sv a day or 2 ago. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1620380707 ====CPU DISCLAIMER==== As far as I am concerned, CPU does not exist yet. The current figures of 100 on all thrusters and RCS etc are placeholders. I will not build my ships around a feature that does not exist yet or even has solid figures set in stone. When CPU becomes a thing and all the usage figures have been decided and balanced out, then I will build my ships to suit that feature.
There was another SV I made this week, just released it. Just a warp shuttle unnarmed. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1620455620
Seems you found a fine solution for the Cockpit-Changes. Btw., I would not say that the Devs does not like us Builders. It is foremost the PvPers who find it necessary to EXPLOIT things to their advantage. So, when complaints are mounting the Devs have to "fix" that. For the Greater Good. To one of your Pictures: What difference would it have made if you would have used an open Cockpit for the 2nd One as it is on the inside?
Looks pretty cool. My first impression from the pic was : Waw cool HV ... untill i read it's an SV, with warp. Judging by the pics on the workshop it looks roomy and fast, with even 36 rcs on board. Gotta see how you did that for myself. From the picture here it didn't look that big, now i'm curious.
My only solution was to get rid of the shutters (1x1) and leave that block open. Even if i could open the shutter from inside the cockpit (wouldn't know how), the shutter block prevents me popping out on top. Guess that works allright, still better then closed cockpit on its own.
That's where I am, until it gets implemented and balanced I am not worrying about it. One thing I have been wondering about, how will the Devs implement a penalty if you surpass the CPU limit? Lag in controlling the build? (think of slow a internet connection) Rolling outages throughout the ship as the overtaxed CPU switches between tasks? (CPU switches devices off while cycling through them) Meh, that's all just speculation. Back to our regularly scheduled discussion.
