Thank all of you for the fun and insights here. Also, thank you Eleon for 4k hours of interesting and at times hilarious gameplay. I've decided to move on to other things and I didn't want to leave without expressing my gratitude.
I've been busy on my new ship… but not too many teasers yet… Spoiler: Images While this is true, I think the devs do also need some ships built according to current values, to be better able to define new adjusted values. Since i'm used to build balanced ships - at least I tend to believe so - I build like this in this ship (ERA-C Avaliero) which currently (build 2137) uses 7500/7500 CPU: - with RCS and tanks it's like with thrusters… either you know how many you need/want with the first block you set, or you dont - I do. I'd like to have a total of 2 thrusters more to the back for better acceleration, but that would destroy the otherwise perfectly balanced (equal) thruster values with the exception of the bottom for high gravity planets. Spoiler: Prepared What's left to do is some more textures without textures…. and remove some of the too much textures…. Makes perfect sense, doesnt it? I think thats the most difficult part. And YES, this is the size of my prefered size ships, it has a hangar large enough for my large SV's (classes 2-4), for my large HV (class 2) and a farm large enough to get some MRE's for reserves, and plenty of ingredients for that carbon stuff (fka plastic) and 'basic medical supplies' for my excourse SV's (where also the MRE's end up)…. Anything smaller is just starter equipment. <3 Just wished i'd be better with texturing… it's a PITA... EDIT: And you DO need a 4th T2 generator (on this ship) to escape 5G without redlining the engines. And you DO need more T3 tanks to get somewhere near to be close to be actualy online reliable.. -> needs like 20-30 t3 tanks more (additional to the 16 'to be set' tanks, so a prefered total of 55-60 T3 tanks, at least). And I DO need more RCS, as I tend to belive a ship of this size should have a 'yaw' of about 0.5-0.75°, maybe even up to 1.1°. --> which would mean i'd need like 50 RCS, so 40 more, need to set room for 16 more then, lets see… Needs more Cargo Controllers for basic everyday supply, and lots more volume&slot extensions for all Kind of Storages.
I'm yet again trying to push an interesting concept. My plan here so to make a vertical snub fighter SV, that can dock to the sides of the T4-Cutter, and can land normally on it's side. So far it's going pretty good, I just hope I can get the agility I want out of it with 2 jets in each direction.
It looks good but it is not very safe to fight with. The cockpit gets take easily against some poi, it could do with an internal cockpit for combat. All the main power systems are crammed together behind cockpit next to warp drive with fuel tanks XD I tested it earlier and the vessel was a no retrieve after the cockpit had gone xD Like a giant bomb behind the driver seat haha I may have to add more structure around the nose, remove those 2 spots.
Did some more editing and testing of the snow starting planet for my scenario. I was able to live through the night, barely. It's a pretty planet, if you can survive the first night: Also put the final touches on the lost colony on the planet and the abandoned colony ship in orbit: Next I just have to make a few more small abandoned things for players to find in orbit and add a custom trade station to be linked to this planet's orbit.
I reworked the Furioso front end around the nose, its thicker and a bit more shielded across the cockpit glass now This morning I started a new SV project... A closed cockpit behind that glass in the front. Before the glass the cockpit itself was in that spot and looked ok, but fear of instakill prompted me to lower the cockpit and put glass over it. Personally I think it may be better with a open cockpit seat on this model. We wills ee what happens throughout the day Edited: she is called WSV Nightshade, settled for 2 open cockpits in the end. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1621256812
I was toying around with making ruins for dead worlds. Grabbed a really cool space shuttle off the workshop and stuck it to an abandoned launch platform. I find creating ruins really enjoyable. It's fun to think about all the stories that have been lost throughout the ages about these ruins. Who lived here? What were their hopes, their dreams? What happened to their civilization? Is it a sign of things to come for our fellow galactic survivalists? Space shuttle: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=924241459
Hello everyone. I haven’t posted anything in a while. So I thought I would post some great pictures of my very first capital ship I built in Empyrion. The Amaterasu first took to the skies late January 2017 & since then has come through many game braking updates. Of course she’s also been refitted many times to take advantage of new features and is still flying today. So I guess you could say her birthday is coming up soon.
I can't be alone when I say you will be missed here. I bet this'd come in real handy in PvP... leave the Enemy's victory literally... hollow! *Ducks rotten produce* I can see tactical benefit to attempted enemy resource denial. PvE... not so much. NPCs are too stupid to figure out how to scavenge or salvage. I've always used the larger Thrusters... it's so much lazier than placing way larger numbers of little guys. (Except the still useless HV Jet Thruster... i'm continuing to disregard its existence.)
Yeah but polaris turrets on HWS were smart enough to shoot out my cockpit haha, I should have took a picture of the leftovers. Nice ship and a great name
Sometimes I drift away, but I always end up coming back. So hopefully this isn’t goodbye forever. I’ll just say see you soon.
Thank you. I know it sounds stupid because basically she’s just a bunch of computer data, but I’ve got many fond memories. Like the reason for her first flight. The landing pad you see her sitting on in the picture you will notice that some columns are thicker than others. That’s because they had to be rebuilt. This picture was taken about two to three weeks after the incident. At the time the main hull was barely coming together but she was already weighing a few metric tonnes. On that day I was continuing the build and was on my back towards her after I had visited the base I was using at the time." You can see it partly in the left of the picture." Anyhow I was standing on the base's landing pad when suddenly the landing pad beneath her give way and blocks were thrown into the air as she landed that poll of water. I had to retrofit some engines to lift her back out and rebuild the pad she was resting upon. I was not amused at the time.
This thing is starting to really take off! I think it's ready to start with texturing tomorrow, I'm happy with the shape I got. Spoiler: More pictures In the back here are these clamps, and these actually serve a purpose. If you need to warp somewhere, you can put your warp drive in between, so it doesn't look completely hideous. Here you can see the docking system, it doesn't connect with the lowest block, instead it connects to the doorframe, one block higher. Docking isn't that hard to do I find, you just roughly align in first person, then do the finer bits in third person.
It's done… well… For a Long time this is the 'first' WIP I'm releasing (again, Scenario aside)… Probably because it is a CPU oriented build… juts Comes to mind.. i might make an MK2 or something alike, with all the T3's, RCS's and CE's it should have. But then again, I want to present Eleon the broken stuff they suggest we shall do. But since i know better, I just build prepared for all the Upgrades, I mean, just because it isnt included, doenst mean it's not planned. Anyway, the first CAPITAL vessel witgh 7500/7500 CPU, as small as 'sizeclass' 15. (198x139x46m) Spoiler: Hull Spoiler: Interiour Texturing without using (too many) textures, I think this is the most difficult part.. it is easier to use 'different' textures everywhere than using the same few/None textures and bring the object to live... The vessel is due to texture changes.. mostly on the bridges and in the machine room. Probably in the 'Cargo extension' Rooms as well, but those 'are not to be seen', at least not supposed to. And since i'm far from good with textures, i can relase it as is anyway… Hope you find it interesting!
Hey guys, heres a quick question for you. Which Nacelle/FTL engine design do you think looks best? other angles:
