It looks like an alien Katar <punch dagger> I rather like it much more than I do most starfleet-esque ships. Going with the safest, though not sure, bet. Spiders.... 30 bucks. this is what I am currently back to do. And lastly *Pulls a lever* Pesky Loganberries.
No need for rear balance if it's never gonna make Planetfall & not gonna have to worry about Gravity. That dude's a CV, not a HV. Or did ya mean just Looks-wise? In that case... hmm... can't think of any reason why ya couldn't enlarge the four Nacelles a bit more plus take that thick neck middle part of the Ship that connects the front 'speartip' to the Nacelles & make it a little skinnier... that might alter the 'looks' of the body proportions just enough to alleviate your concerns without being totally drastic measures.
I only meant the visuals. You must excuse me for that, i'm extremely nitpicking about my own designs and this is where my (mild) autism fully kicks in. Heck, back when i played Star Trek online, i hated every.single.design they came up with, because they seemingly added some element on it that made a ship look "unbalanced" or un-"sexy" (i'm sorry i can't find a proper word for it) in my eyes, that made me go mad if i had to look at it all the time. It feels itchy, but you can't scratch, lol. That's an interesting concept! It looks definitely interesting, like a small science ship for example. If you allow i'd take that as a inspiration for a future ship maybe. (Can't promise anything tough) Thanks man! I'm actually surprised it is so well received.
As some are probably aware: 1. I have trouble focusing on a single BP. 2. I have been experimenting with the rough draft of CPU revealed with Alpha 9. That being said, sometimes I regret trying something. This when time I was crying, "No. No. No. Please don't let this be true." The problem? I actually have a SV bigger than my Skimmers. Turns out that converting it to 7500 CPU actually improves its performance. Spoiler: Haemolymphs Some time ago there was vote in the official forums that asked us what features we would like to see. One of those hinted at was HV-SV docking. So I experimented with a SV heavy lifter. Thus the Haemolymph was born. I had no urgency to complete the BP because it looked like the feature was not going to happen to anytime soon. Still, it became the source of a small line of projects. This first pic lines them all up. Up close is the Lesser Haemolymph, a small CV built around the concept of fitting through a 7 x 13 door. The SV won't fit through that door, too tall for a 7 x 14 door. The little Naiad HV tank is parked between the two. Although the Lesser Haemolymph is bigger than the SV by a little bit, its hangar is too small for the large Thunder Naiad, but the Naiad fits with room to spare. At the far end is the Greater Haemolymph which can accommodate two Thunder Naiad heavy tanks. I really like the looks of the original Haemolymph. To me, this looks and feels like a heavy lifter. The only parts that I dislike? The cockpit and passenger cabins. But the workhorse portion, I really like the cluster of engines and the ribs down to the platform. However, the original is far over 7500 CPU. I stripped out to so many large jet engines, fuel tanks, generators, and RCS that the SV lost several tons. And this is when I started to cry "No. No. No. Don't let it be so" but it was already too late. Yes, I lose acceleration front, back, top and sides, so I wouldn't want to tip this over hauling a 200 ton heavy tank, but the raw lift to carry a heavy tank went up quite nicely.... And so it would become far more capable of its primary function possibly including up to 2.0 g. Now can I stay focused enough to complete this project? I was planning that this would be one of the last BP I would finish. Without HV-SV docking in the foreseeable future, there was no need to finish the project. But as a demonstration of what can be done with 7500 CPU, perhaps I should complete my prototype heavy lifter SV a lot earlier than I had planned.
Last I checked, "Unsexy" literally is the Scientific Term for that, but if ya wanna be REALLY sure about it, ask Kieve. I'm pretty sure we already knew that, we all know ya aren't exactly makin Military Brawn. (Just kidding, I know ya likely meant to say "though". ) Especially considering the Shape's bout already done.
@Neal If you really find your Ship design - ST related or not - is no longer a good one (believe me, IT IS!) you may consider to use it like some People in China... as a Base? https://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03312/enterprise_3312981b.jpg
Today I updated my Expanded Default Survival scenario to add the swamp planet back in to match alpha 9.2. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1594181950
Since 9.2 just dropped I have uploaded the blueprints I was working on while 9.2 was in testing. My Level 3 starter bases are level 3 again, and some of the micro CV's have small constructors now.
I decided to rework the rear end of my LVL 7 CV so players can easily mount a warp drive. The build is intended to be a cheap CV that players can deploy early and then expand upon, making the ship the bridge of their larger build. Stock: Rip the deco blocks off and add a warp drive, I also left enough space to enclose it. Not pretty, but it works.
