what you guys think, the recolor of the baikal or the blue one based off the show that i should remaster to A9? only doing 1 for now up to you guys
It'd be cool if that Glass Enclosed Warp Drive glowed like a Firefly Tail... Definitely White. That Blue looks flat out dumb... >_<
Today i continued to work on the new base to dwarf all other NSI bases.. Been working on it to and from for a couple of days now (with still no end in sight i may add).. All i have been working on is the bare outer hull of the thing.. nothing inside have been touched or cleaned up yet. For the first time since i started making blueprints i now experienced my PC freezing when overwriting this blueprint (i do this in case the save gets corrupted). I estimate it froze for a good 5 seconds or so before the "ding... your BP have been save" finally came. Could it be the size of it causing this? Will this get worse as the class of this base continues to climb? My PC is a high end gaming PC, so that is not the issue.
I managed to get a 16.4kT small vessel off the ground with 144 of the biggest thrusters I can fit on an SV.
*Checks out Size Class & Dimensions* Yep, that's definitely the culprit. That thar be Space Mole Size... wow dude...
Guess it will be fun when i get to the part of texturing, placing deco and set up machinery then not to forget the ooooh so joyous task of getting gravity throughout that little puppy... sometimes i think i secretly hate myself
Got the easy part done. The frame of the engines is now done. Now to solve the parts that are really bothering me, cockpit and passenger cabins.
After a Godzilla-sized facepalm in the bug reporting thread I started a new survival game and made sure that device limits was turned on. Now I pride myself on making realistic and safe builds, and cringed when I saw that two of my HV builds were red after the device limits had been turned on. Blast it all. So I took some time to find out why they were red, and discovered that you can only have 4 of the LVL 1 hover thrusters. I was able cut down the hover thrusters on one build W/O sacrificing too much performance and re-uploaded it. As for the other, I had to go back and remove the hover thrusters then upgrade to hover engines, RCS, & thrusters. At least I was able to keep it at a low level.
Tried to get used to the CPU limitation and found out that CVs and SV have the same maximum CPU value? A SV i'm just working on, can get filled with guns and other devices so much i fakt, i don't know where to put the guns, while my CV exceeds the allowed CPU number by far and has only the most basic equimpment installed. Anyways, here's a first humble try on a SV: (not actually THE first try i ever made, but the first in months) I don't know but somehow i never get the right grasp or feel when i build SVs. My goal is to create not exactly a Star Trek shuttle, but something that looks more aerodynamic and fast, but at the same time spacious enough to store cargo in work as a improvised base for short term planetary exploration. I don't know its like the part in my brain that responsible for creating cool looking SVs is somehow missing, lol.
Planed as AM daily tour SV..... Each of these 'blocks' is only half the volume possible (~15.5k), so they store the content of a single T2 autominer (each, at least) at best... This is ridiculus. I'm in no mood to build atm.... Volume is BS. IMO, about EVERY single BP in all the WS will turn into crap when volume (as it is) is applied. Because, what you see there, was once fitting into 2 large Cargo boxes of an SV... Issue beeing, the way one stores items in a game is fundamental, the Progress of game developement was 'focus' (read: working) with what was before, therefore, all the Gameplay was optimized to that bevhaiour.. I havent see a single game changing that… But EGS did. Have to admit, EGS is the only EA I ever Played. From now on, i will handle volume just like CPU... It's non-existent!
Dear Lord... that is a SV-Bulk Carrier, hm? Well, at least now the game provides Builders with the means for building real Transport Vessels and not "MAERSK-in Space"-Freighters. I will face that challenge too now that I have built my first own SV. As it is already a lvl 20 it might be necessary, fully loaded, to 're-attach' the removed downwards trusters *head scratching*...btw., my configuration for those -32k- vast numbers of CE's -> The new Game mechanic allows for "ignoring" the mass/volume system by flipping a switch, so to speak. "Volume is BS"....yes, it is, but how would you consider to carry, let us presume, a 1000 ton Rock with you around? To give an impression what -V o l u m e- such Boulder would have -> https://www.dailymail.co.uk/science...ied-mountainside-power-Icelandic-volcano.html One thing for sure - I can not carry that neither in my Backpack nor in a 30ft Container, that is fact. I play since last Year and I do not have so much experience about this Building-Stuff but I heard from the beginning the request/demand/threat's to quit-rages of Players for a full blown rework of Space Battles/PvP. Now, that the Devs took a first Step towards solving this huge task, the players are unhappy again. Sorry, but I see the M/V-issue differently.
I understand that some volume is wanted, even can look good. But from my POV - it turns the game unplayable. You Need a Special Sv to take a single t3 miner, to then carry back to the CV which can hold more, after the tour, you Need to go back to the base, to do the 'production' because with all these requirements, a CV that is only focused on production - and we're speaking of a proper production, beacuse you wanted volume, so you also want otherwise proper production 'ways'... and therefor would save a step - is HUGHE and couldnt do anything else! Because if you then tell me, 'oh, 2 AC's and 4CC's with 8-16CE's are enough', I'll doubt any further word. Because we both now it's not. Far from it. A proper production, goes by 8 Furnaces and at the very least 8 AC's as well as at the very least 32 storage Units (1 CC with 39CE's) (I used to say 64, but that was with 1-2 large boxes per item). When I used to build like that, most People were like.. you build so hughe.. noones goona need this storage.. now.. it cant even hold 1/20 of what I had declared as minimum and been told it were too much back then.... I'm going back to my Nomadic Ore Store.... A BP I use to save Ingots, within the factory, not Building it. Guess i'm just very disappointed. Laters
I actually love that! I'd love to have a dedicated SV for collecting autominer ores. I always thought it was pretty lame that I could carry so much in such a tiny ship before. I mean, there was no point to building anything bigger or better than say, my Comet warp shuttle. Now there's a lot more use for dedicated cargo ships and thus a purpose to those designs. And let's be honest, if a player is collecting 16 full T3 autominer loads of ore in a play session, they can afford to build a larger SV to do it with. (That's almost 200,000 ingots, enough to build almost any end-game, max size CV or space station in the workshop)
Only had a couple hours to play tonight so I added some more random stuff to find on the dead planets: Part of a crashed space station: A deep space radio antenna (I still have to make it look a little more ruined). Provides a lot of copper, iron, and silicon to anyone willing to take the time to salvage it: Some broken space tethers: Tweaked the biomes and playfield textures and the spawning for POI clusters a little: Next I'm going to add some ruined civilian buildings where people might have lived and an underground bunker to explore. I'll probably make several variations of dead planets, with some differences in POIs to find there.
