Finally disabled....And now for boarding action! I did take me 3 attempts to get this far - ever other time I had to abandon ship in the escape pod!
I was going over an old build and decided that it's vertical thrust was just too weak under the new system. I also upgraded the weapons for fun and went drone hunting. Before on the right, after on the left.
Today I attempted to build a ship that felt cavernous on the inside. I think I was decently successful. I also played around more with emissive textures. Not entirely happy with the overall shape of the exterior though, but for the most part I don't think it's too bad.
Today, when I resumed my game, the SV I had was marked red. Was this a bug? I still had my CV, so I wasn't inclined to start over. Then I spawned in my Kiwi mining HV and found it was missing the cockpit? I had to remove a light and pane of glass before I could insert a cockpit. At least now the collection of resources will go a bit faster. Apparently I accidentally killed a Talon or destroyed one of their "blocks" so they are now unfriendly with me. Figured that since they don't like me anymore anyways, might as well hit a couple deposits in their territory. Just not the ones right under their village.
Very true and very nice! May I recomend/suggest to use some more places to color for contrast? Maybe some Lights at the 'bridges' (Spotlights onto the passways or 'indirect lighting' of the Bridge itself, Maybe even combined) My personal preference is to have the floor with other textures than the walls and maybe even slightly different colored or even a full contrast. Since you have columns, it would be awesome to 'highlight' them with different textures/colors as well. For the hull, you could make 'rings of steel for stability' around the round part, and at some poitns use that 'offset' to get pipes along the side to cool down the cooling fluid for the engines At the back wings to their front side, you could make inserts - where you hide fixed weapons (unless you have already used all, but i just had seen 2 rockets). At the break thrusters there, you could use Slops at the side, 1 Offset, either above , if the out row matches with the other slope, or 1 below so the thrusters seems 'lifted'. Geez… that happens if i havent built something for a day… Sorry, hth
Haha. No worries. Thanks for the advice. I haven't bothered with texturing yet, but that's something else i need to practice, especially when I'm presented with large walls or uninterrupted hull areas (I tend to paint the entire wall a single texture with the default texture color). I'll have to give your ring suggestion a try. As most of the hull shape doesn't have much flat area, I was having trouble finding places to add deco to the hull (I was going to add some off the air break deco to the top to look like fins, but I forgot until this moment). The addition of rings would definitely give me a place to stash some piping, which would help break up the exterior and make it more interesting to look at. The addition of some piping and fixed weapons should go a long way towards improving the exterior. On the interior, I might have to play around with the spotlight width setting in the lights to see if I can't add some small red highlights to a few places. Might also need to lower the light intensity a bit in the interest of ambiance.
There is a spawn PV command. Use console command "ai on" to enable the AI. Then you should be able to spawn an orbital patrol vessel with that command. If you want a static target to practice against, spawn the blueprint of a patrol vessel, remove the core, replace the core with an NPC core (name should then turn red), then use "ai on" and it will start shooting you. *not fully tested in alpha 9
Yesterday I had not much enthusiasm to be productive so I spent most of the time in game with collecting resources. I collected about 2/3rd of the Deposits other then Neodymium...of which the Planet still has 32 of medium to large size... and let my CV's Constructor work away on the Ore. Also I took the opportunity to complete Recon my Planet. Helps to see the Desert clearer now. Coming home and unloading more than 3 Stacks of Steel and Hardened Steel Blocks and also a lot of Ore into the waiting Storage Buildings...on which have to make a small change as ONE (T1)Fuel Tank is a bit on the low end and keeps it only 8h energized. Might include 1 more T1. Night view when arriving home I can put my CV in a central position to use Logistic and transfer Material and Stuff to all 3 of them..."Without moving"
Nah for that I us Rucky's Combat Test Sceanrio, updated/re-uploaded for A9 by Astic with the permission of Rucky: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1623820202&searchtext=combat
Still collecting stuff while the Constructor is rumbling away... (CV) AUGUSTUS Midship-Engineering Sections so far so good.. Downwards Truster will be... hm.. somewhere..else? Proportions so far
Got an SV I'm currently working on that sure would look pretty flying around on that ice planet. I usually end up having to fiddle the terrain editor to get coloring the way I want, but that ice planet looks just about right. I might have to 'borrow' it for some screenshots.
It was interesting to see the backside and head of a pangolin sticking up through the floor of my hangar. As I watched, the creature walked through the floor of my CV until it was finally outside. Technically, the collision box of the floor of my hangar means that my CV is flat on the ground. It only looks like it is resting a meter off the ground because those are half blocks. So apparently the pangolin could walk through the space of the half blocks as if it could fit underneath my CV. However, the pangolin is ever so slightly taller than 2 meters, so I was seeing the very top of it sticking up through my floors.
I was goofing around tonight and tried out an idea I had. It's a very rough draft, and my first attempt at the idea, but I think it came out well. Pity we do not have longer force field blocks...
That's a neat idea! Though at a distance, you could chain them together cause it's hard to see the little metal strips. Might work out.
Today I mostly worked some more on my abandoned tomb. There's so many secret areas! Can't wait to finish the layout so I can start filling it with gold coins, jewelry, and ancient relics.
Maybe the Drones are sick & tired of getting wtfowned by SVs from above & are trying out new 'unorthodox' strategies...
