To be fair, I was proud of it at the time... that time being months before the Real Hover Mechanics Implementation... Alas, Empyrion Creations cannot be guaranteed to age gracefully. I could totally imagine possible success with a Pigeon Bomber SV. Might be quite a trick finding a way to make the SV look Pigeonish & stuff its literal ass with Homers &/or Plasma Cannons though...
Worked on the Bow-Section of the Augustus (CV). Laughed my Ass of off as how the Eagle looked... Front interior design Landing Bay in the Bow Section for the Aquilifer The CV is still missing a lot of Devices, his Aft Section, the Bridge, the two forward facing Triple Barreled "Turrets" and so on.
Working on the station some more. Spoiler This was taken just after deleting the spherical storage tanks under the station which freed up all the space around the central column.I couldn't decide if I wanted to add rings or dome shaped structures. I was also thinking about an enclosed glass ring shape with a park of some sort but it would be a nightmare to build and without a smooth, single pane glass solution it would never look that way I wanted it to. Experimenting to see how a ring shape would look. Trying to work out spacing, number, and size of the rings. Oh and I gave disc at the bottom of the column a makeover. I decided on two rings instead of three. Each ring has enough space for two levels. One ring will feature residential, the other shops and entertainment. If working on diagonals wasn't such a pain I might have opted for domes attached to the column at alternating points. I'll work out the exterior details first. Once that's done I'll use a little copy/paste magic to create the second ring. I'm currently pondering where I want the access points. I had an idea to build an elevator car on the exterior but alas it would just be for show. I may move the subway to line up better with one of the rings. We'll see. Edit: Spoiler Turns out I won't need to move the subway. I just need to add some elevators that connect to the habitat rings. Probably just do two of them. One on each side to line up with the pedestrian corridors that connect to the central column. A closer look on the inner side of the habitat rings with the fake elevators. The connecting beams with the blue emissive are fake pedestrian walkways which I might do something else with. The ones with the windows are the real ones.
Oh, I am sooo stealing "Pigeon Bomber", lol Actually the pigeon pic in my last post kinda reminds me of the F-4 Phantom: I've heard the F-4 referred to as a "bomb truck", so it does the "droppings" part pretty well : Anyway, perhaps the "Pigeon Bomber SV" can be modeled on the F-4? I'll give this some effort, but like what began this side-discussion: it will start off looking like an F-4 in my mind, and end up looking like a brick .
Over the last few days, I've managed to upgrade to all combat steel, throw 4 missile turrets on for taking on lightly defended poi's, put a retractable multi tool on the back, and upgraded from medium to large thrusters (only the ones facing the rear so far). The thrusters took the acceleration from 12 m/s to 21 m/s, so I'm pretty happy with that. Still need the parts for tier 2 thrusters. Well, I gave up being a nomad. There are just a lot of things that require a base size constructor. And I don't want to get rid of the weights and volume either. So at least I finally feel like there is a good reason for having a base. I'm still doing a salvage only play through, he won't be mining. All upgrades and builds will still have to come from loot, so why not a raider base? Spoiler: Raider base in progress This was the original "base" before I had any idea of what a I wanted to do. I just found it kind of funny that in my no mining play through, it was much easier to build out of combat steel rather than my usual concrete. I think everything in the above pic other than the vehicles, wifi, and some solar stuff was loot. I'm slowly killing off the original base and creating my run down looking raider base. Here's my greenhouse, complete with cracked and boarded up windows. I think this is the first time I've shot a build of mine to decorate it. O2 station and ammo bunker. That wall looks pretty sturdy, right? An overview of the area I'm going to fill up. I need to finish up the wall, it's only a mixture of regular steel, wood, and girders and will have large gaps in it. On the stater planet just having a building and two turrets is OP, so it should be fine. And the other buildings, storage, crafting, living quarters, etc. I want to make this look like a small raider town when it's done.
Watching this Zirax patrol ship Warp in was pretty cool. I wished Elon would have a fleet of Zirax patrol ships warping in at the sametime. We need more PVE spaceship combat experiences in Space. Enough NPC ships where you need groups of players to take them on.
@Fenris That's a great idea. I just started a new arid start last night. Thinking ok now how am I'm going to play this one. Then closed it down for the night. So thank you for the idea!
@RazzleWin yeah, the building has been a lot of fun. I'm usually trying to make everything look new and well maintained. Now the challenge is to make it look run down, but still functional.
Been hard at work getting my scenario ready for Apha 10 experimental! I want to try to add a couple starting planets to it when I get it updated to A10.
My most work in Empyrion the past few days has been for the intermodal container discussion in another thread. Sometimes seeing and touching is better than just reading and writing. The stuff I put together is just empty shells that I could move around and stack for testing purposes.
Totally do it! Go ahead, make that Brick... then tweak it out, chisel a bit here, mod it a bit there, see how it looks, refine some more, experiment with those Angle Blocks some more, don't be afraid to Retcon what might not be working... see how it goes... ponder on it, plot & scheme, shape it some more... before ya know it ya may well have improvement of Design on your hands! This is how I got better over time. Even then there's still room for improvement from memorable builds of my past like this dude: Spoiler: A couple Screenies of my Tyrax Racing Truck from a past Jenn Challenge: Ahh the memories... Nostalgic Days, being challenged to make a Racing Vehicle that was tasked with some challenges, including but not limited to Max 2 Gens, Max 2 Fuel Tanks, Max ONE Hover Booster... most made some kinda Racing Car kinda build... I brought a MONSTER TRUCK! My baby was so tall that I was able to tuck its Fuel Tank Access & O2 Access (The Race was gonna take place in breathable atmo, but I say screw it, always be prepared!) in its underside & while it's parked, a person can still walk right between the Tires & reach up into the underside to access them! Also i'm still amazed that THIS Truck was able to have only the Max 1 Hover Booster & yet when used, it got more then 0 Air Time on it! Take heart. practice & experimentation will help over time. Don't try to rush to the top of Mount Olympus in one Sprint. Relax & enjoy the journey. P.S. It has yet to be seen if someday the Tyrax Racing Truck ever gets a Descendant... Hint, there's a couple Symbols somewhere in the Paint & Texture Gun that can come in handy for lookin like spots of Rust... & since they count as Symbols, they stack on top of Textures...
Been doing the solo mission today. Headed to space to find the small ship but once in orbit I did not pick it up. Haven't done this mission enough to be sure this is a bug but I've picked it up immediately when leaving the planet the couple of times I did it in other game runs. Does this ever spawn further out than the detector range? Edit: opened the console...yeah, its a bug...game can't find a file.
I think that every one of us has gone through a "Brick" stage. The first CV I built from scratch can only be described as a brick. (Although I called it a "Hockey Puck of Doom").
Hanging out at Waypoint Station on the barren, metal world of cauldron. Auto miners hard at work extracting precious zascosium. Really great POI on a really alien world
Id recomend a single starter.. playfield.... A locked base.. from where one takes a portal to the actual starter planets. From my experience as admin i can tell you this.. ALOT of players are not aware/dont see the planet change thing upon their first server login. And several others are too eager to get started and 'skip it' by 'accident'. This also helps to 'close' a starter planet for new player to join before a planed wipe. --》 less hazzle.
Tried to busy myself with working on the CV until A10 EXP is available. Found out that the Gravity Bubble ends right in front of the SV entrance . Placed the outlaying shield and the Turrets on top and beneath, also the simulated Turret for the Laser Bottom of the Augustus Statistics in its current state
That would be my preferred way but you can't use teleporters to teleport to other playfields in a random scenario because of the randomized planet names.
Cant one use a fixed sectors.yaml with their according planet-folders, having their templates in them (opposed than the generated yaml)?
