I barely see any water on desert planets. Its water ratio is actually set to 0% so it should be only tiny pockets of water or the rare water-filled crater. I always thought Barren was supposed to be like Venus, giving the description, so I wouldn't expect there to be any grass or regular plants. Alien, Temperate, Lava, and Barren planets are the oldest of the alpha 8+ planets I think. Temperate has received some minor updates but I don't think the other 3 you mentioned really have changed much since they were first added in alpha 8. Just looking at the playfield files and comparing say, the temperate planet with the swamp planet, the newer swamp planet has about double the lines of code in the playfield file compared to the older temperate planet. Having more lines of code doesn't necessarily mean a planet is better, but I can see the increased complexity and fine tuning present in the newer planets compared to the older ones and it really shows in the planet.
This. During early access Subnautica had deformable terrain which was pretty cool when it came to building underground bases but it was a huge performance hit and they eventually removed that feature opting for fixed static terrain instead.
Played around with making a toxic moon. Still really early: It's a dumping site for trash and hazardous waste, so I'm going to make a lot of junk to float in the water and make some waste processing POIs and such. I have an idea for the trash in the water that might be really cool, if it works. Since Zirax buy toxic waste in my scenario, this will be a good place to go if you're friendly with them so you can obtain a lot of toxic waste and then sell it to the Zirax for a nice profit. Maybe put some poor stranded people here who need your help.
Seems to be your seed luck As @ravien_ff said, they have higher spawning chances. And Desert is rigged to have only rarely water. If you are lucky, in a Wadi or an LargeCrater. --- You can access all planets directly from the main menu. >Open console. type: lpf ((YourPlanetTemplateHere)) E.g. lpf BarrenMetal This will load a world in debug mode. - No creatures, or POI. Behaves very similar to creative, but has no save, no weather, nor any orbit. Terrain gets filled up again, if you move too far away. ... But you can easily test-drive your blueprints that way I always thought, that someone would put them up like that. That's the reason for the menhir circle on TemperateSwamp... Talons might be primitive, but not stupid Sadly, that is still a performance issue. You need deep terrain for that, which is slow. No flowing lava. No Sub biomes (and with that, no extra deco, like GasEmitters) possible on a stamp biome, but shape and glowing rock in the crater could be done.
Know what we need? An invisible gas emitter. Just releases gas, without a visible mound (or it only has a very small unobtrusive one). Then you could stick those in whatever volcanic or geothermal biome you need. I think that would be really cool if we could get some volcano stamps with a crater in the middle that could be filled with lava texture (or whatever texture we want). Would make lava and any future volcanic planets much better. We have a lot of different mountain stamps but nothing like that yet.
This is pretty amazing. There is an issue with it being offset a bit, but that is due to a game bug that should be fixed next update and has nothing to do with your design. I didn't do a play test of it because I want to save it for my own play through but just taking a quick look at it, I think it's really cool. Is it designed around having an admin core, or can that be changed out for a standard NPC core without breaking the POI? Thank you for sharing this awesome and creepy mine!
Thanks! I hope you have a blast running through it when you get the chance. It's designed specifically to have the admin core. The doors should be coded so that anyone can open them. I damaged the things I want players to be able to destroy(so the sentry guns, secrets, etc) but for the most part yeah I want players to explore it rather than shoot their way through the walls.
Rebar or no Rebar that's the question. Whilst it works fine making a structure stable from underneath, does it "offset the burden from above" no doubt some of the greatest bridge builders from old earth days, would put it more scientifically. Will the rebar add to the structures weight and help it collapse or support it. it looked pretty grim at this stage, had to get the 3D printer mass producing rebar.. The rebar had no effect altered the amount of rebar used in each section but no change that I could see. The engineers where up late again last night a few early mishaps, we lost a few more when the first few cubes hit, the chief engineer sadly was one of them, his last words were structural integrity crew numbers are low were down to 76 excluding the ratings. Letting the work crews have a break before we remove the central column from the hangar section, one good thing the engineer did whilst building the structure was to attach solar panels as it was getting built were nicknaming it the power tower.. 10 batteries 15 panels already were at 9% which cant be right there must of been some juice left in the old greenhouse... Included the engines for scale, the work crews are none to pleased wearing the radiation suits especially in the hot weather.. added bonus of engines appearing shiny hot when the debug mode is toggled. The next stage will be for me to make a coffee and hope there are no fractures in any of the steel cubes that have been placed. (and make a save point if it holds up will it take the extra weight from panels or will that push it too far.. Need to match the rebar layout throughout the structure, removed an engine in case it was helping prop up. Held my breath and removed the block holding it all up Many hours later... each section has 10 solar batteries and 10 panels, 7 sections so a great deal of free energy to utilize. However I WOULD NOT USE THIS METHOD AS IT BREAKS AND STOPS BASE ATTACKS. having I think so far 11 bases joined together the ai has a huge problem in attacking even after trying to reset the attack mode. but it looks cool not sure how long the roof will last though. Already a few blocks have fallen in lol, just glad it all never fell though, if the zirac ever try and succeed in attacking this base I am sure that this will be the first to go. Hope you enjoy reading this, tell me otherwise if not lol. big ass greenhouse heh. Next plan is to delete the runway as that is connected to the 5 small buildings and it might / hopefully resolve some of the attack issues, constantly an ongoing attack even after reset. PS sure am glad the mining is over there was a ton of dirt.
This is an awesome rework! Usually I'm not a big fan of the blue lights, but this looks very good. Not to mention that, I love these rusty-like ships. Please share this blueprint, if you don't mind.
So...the Retro-Comet is now a Level 10 SV, it got a Shield Gen, Warp-Drive and -Tank, 2 x 22,5k CC, 6 Gatlings, Most of the Sensors work now as they should be. The Frontal Glass has been improved to Armored Windows. Out of experience Further "Improvements" may follow. Interior AND Exterior Light on Lights OFF Interior Lights ON Some additional Pictures
Kept working at the DSEV Space (faction) HQ, todays topic.... Parking…. Weeeee. I really like it so far But still alot to do! Spoiler: more images
After logging in today I need to amend the base attack comment so far 7 attacks and I expect more. Have to amend this, you do receive base attacks they just snag up now and again logged into 7 attacks and without cheating would of run out of ammo long ago, whilst this is a good idea for I think making large structures such as the hangar having lots more bases within the area causes the ai to have a few issues.. I need to re asses or pack up and move onto the next planet and having so many base names all over the screen is completely unprofessional, in the future I should either build a proper base or stick to riding my bike.... One final image, going to upgrade the ship it needs a few mods before I blast off from this blasted jungle planet if there are any navigators out there please broadcast on all frequencies a desert, just one little watering hole is all we ask for.. here comes the next wave..
0/10. Wouldn't recommend as a vacation spot. When I asked for a refund, the Zirax shot me in the face. I stole a freighter from the moon as revenge. Last time I pick a garbage moon as my vacation spot! Now it's time to work some more on the Ice Giant planet. I'm working on a huge dungeon POI for it that I hope will be challenging, fun, and rewarding. I'll put a couple of NPCs on other planets who mention it to build up some excitement for it.
While still in the vicinity of the Dead-Starter-Planet I found the Minefield with 2 Hakons and 3 other Vessels, including "the" Small Vessel. First I thought I would try to rebuild - RETRO - a Hakon to suit my needs. Well, screw it! I built a immobile CV - called Support CV - on the Basis of a CC320k with a small Generator, a Fuel Tank and a Advanced Constructor. It sat half way between the now dismantled Hakon and the newly started CV. I ignoring the fact that here in space, outside of the Planet playfield, I would be able to spawn in BPs again, which is disabled on the Planet. (Polaris Trade Station is only 3km away)
Worked some more on the Deep Core Mining Facility. Hey look, an elevator to the lower levels! Useful! Wait, that's a long ways down... The central laser drill: It's coming along slowly.
