I'm just making tests with minimalist designs. Here is a starting assembly of primary devices that get me satisfying performance: There's a cockpit on some truss blocks at the front for testing, and a small passage between "safe" devices (no rads or heat) at the bottom. Here are the stats for this thing : This beats my best fighting SV by a stretch... I covered that "core" with some shutter windows and decorative carbon composite corners & other shapes not available with windows: The lasers and rocket guns surround 3 sides of the armored glass cockpit, making an additional layer of protection and allowing a wide FOV for combat (I hate 3rd person flight combat). I slapped 3 cannon turrets on the top mostly to protect the ship from buggers when I leave it behind to explore in my SV, or to protect me while I mine close by. I would enable the lasers and rocket guns for planet use anyway in my personal games (single and multi). The interior space is crampy, but that's a tiny scout ready for combat, not relying on armor and turrets. A view forward, standing in the cockpit, and towards the back from the same spot, seeing all the way to the tiny hangar where my attack SV rests, with another yet smaller SV for POI infiltration (fits in small doors and 1 block corridors). I also fitted a shield generator somewhere in the back, upside-down, and added an advanced constructor, 2 fridges & 1 food bench (visible in the corridor, upside-down), medic station, clone chamber, many cargo & ammo boxes, a repair bay (in the hangar floor), repair station, even a toilet and a shower (everything except grow plots). Here's a view of the tiny hangar with my "bigger" SV (the other one is beside it on the left). The hangar is a "fly-through" with one door on each side. With all blocks and devices added, I am still outperforming my best attack SV : Now that I see I have some performance freedom, I will try to gain a bit more space inside and better placement of devices. Would be cool if SVs could perform as well even with basic armor... .
It is hard to get past how gorgeous planets are from orbit now: For the first time in the this game, I kind of want to make my main bases in orbit - imagine a glass dome as the cover and looking at that all the time as you are working and considering your plans for system domin.... I mean, plans for peaceful exploration.
Finished the last of the RadosAuxT1Snow series today. Unfortunately this last one (Support Base) can't be released until a bug is fixed that lets me turn off/on thin spawners by signal. The Support Base shares the features of all other Auxillary installations; being a jack of all trades and master of none. South-West side. Possesses the antenna array of the Com Center and Garage of the Fuel Depot. North-East side. The only auxillary zirax POI to have a shield generator. It's a weak one though (4000 hp). Interior corridor. The garage. If you're playing the experimental version, you've hopefully encountered one of these vehicles in the new Missile Base on the snow planets already. If not... you're in for a treat. The core room. Using those new projectors.
A nice thought. Besides Exploration is only the first step to build an Empire "Those wars are unjust which are undertaken without provocation. For only a war waged for revenge or defense can actually be just". Marcus Tullius Cicero
Far above the surface of an as-yet named Class-M planet lies the ruins of a light carrier: Undoubtedly shorn in half by a hilarious flub on the part of a certain level designer that forgets to remove Admin cores when they are not needed... Now only silence walks these halls... (and vacuum resistant ferns...) R.I.P Janus Light carrier... Was going to submit some more orbital stuff to the developers. Thought I would start with this one.
Malo-X3 is the lastest version of a CV that has seen multiple refreshes of. Tried some new things, but more importantly tried to make is better all around. But here is a screenshot to show off the current progress.
Ooooooohhhhhh, woooooowwwww. That is amazing! It is sleek, has a futuristic look, something of a visual illusion, and god those glowy contours. That is a work of art, beautiful work so far!
If you want to keep the incident historically accurate, I was in a Guppy with a Leopoldi on the flight deck. Feel free to blast either one to pieces. <snif> I guess putting the fuel tanks and generators in the center-rear was a mistake.
Would you look at that! She's supposed to have ...! Yes, and if my grandmother has wheels she'll be a wagon! Seems to workout fine! Great Work @Jenniphurr
Here are the three "Dead-Planet"-HV's which evolved while starting 4 times there. From the left the Survivor 1, the Survivor 2 and the Fenris 1.
