Hi, It is my first time since ever playing this game that I have had to post a bug report. Normally I can resolve the issues myself but this time I am really quite stumped has to what is causing the issue. I created a custom scenario for the new Alpha 10.5 using the Solar System Generator and some custom template files (planetary playfields) and started a dedicated host for it. The system has been running fine for almost 3 weeks when this week I had reports of ships vanishing in orbit of the starter planet. I didn't think much of it at the time has I've had similar reports in the past and it were usually a case of misplacement. After some investigation it appear that the reports were accurate, so from what I have been able to determine, all orbits playfields appear to be suffering the same issue. Ships flown or spawned in orbit playfields are fine if they are occupied, but the moment they aren't they flicker then vanish from view leaving only their marker. A run of ents -all -full appears to confirm their marker location but when setposition is ran or destroy on the ID's I get a message saying the entity id doesn't exist. It is if the game has only recorded the reference to the entity but now the entity itself. I have been able to reproduce this issue in multiple orbits, but it doesn't appear to happen in any planetary playfields. Now I grabbed the dedi save game and loaded it up locally on my PC for further debugging and the issue occurs there as well. I delete the saved world data for the affected orbit to force a rebuild from the template and repeated the process of spawning a ship in orbit only to watch it appear then immediately vanish. I have restarted the game again with the same scenario file and had the same issues occur again. The only time I haven't had the same issue is if I start a new game using my templated playfields with the default game scenario, then everything works fine. All of this appears to indicate that something about my custom scenario isn't working correctly, however, I have changed any orbit templates when using the solar system generator, only planetary playfields template. I am hoping someone else has encountered this issue and has a fix for it, I'd rather not like to have to restart a new dedi server again if I can help it. Thank you in advance for any advice or assistance you can provide.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!! Settings in the game options file, more specifically DSL were causing objects to not load in the orbit playfields. Once these lines were removed from the game options file all missing entities magically reappeared where they were supposed to be.
Planetary was set to 2000 and Orbit/Space was set to 48000 I previously had these settings working when A10.5 first came out, since A10.5 they now appear to cause issues. Thank you.
What was the time set to 'DSLUnloadSecs: '? DSLUnloadSecs: ? DSLDistancePlanet: 2000 DSLDistanceSpace: 48000
Yes all 3 settings need to be in the gameoptions.yaml of the scenario folder atleast. It should be in the gameoptions.yaml for any stock scenario I have just checked multiple installations I have & it is always there for me in every stock scenario.
Right...... Since I was running a custom scenario, I didn't have these settings set for me in the generated gameoptions . yaml file for the export scenario from the solar system generator, I can definitely confirm that has I regenerated a new scenario today as a test. I added 2 of the 3 setting manually post generation. It is how I was able to isolate that the settings might have been the cause of my issues on my server. When I took a newly generated games option . yaml file which didn't include those lines and replaced mine with it which did, everything began to work again. Afterwards I merely removed the 2 lines from my dedicated server save game's gameoptions . yaml file and the game ran as intended. Does the game not default to an internal value if one isn't specifically stated in the yaml file? I have seen some references to a default value of 30 seconds mentioned in some of your release notes for earlier releases (now I've been reading into it).
30 is the default value that I think should be applied if nothing else is set but it appears for you that didn't happen can you send me your scenario & a copy of the save game where the issue was happening so I can look at it ?
