    Reproducibility: Always
    Severity: Crash
    Type: Gamestart

Summary: nvwgf2umx.dll/Empyrion.exe caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)

    Description:
Since around 3 days I've got this error everytime I try to start the game (Alpha 11.5.3). Before I could play just fine and I didn't change anything on my system that could have caused this error. Other games are running fine, other Unity games as well (I'm not sure if they're running on Unity 2019.2.14f1 or not, but my Unity 2019.3.* projects won't give me this problem).
I did reinstall my NVIDIA drivers (clean install with DDU), I did verify the gamefiles, I did reinstall the game, I did clean all Empyrion folders, all drivers are up to date and as mentioned it doesn't happen with any other game I own. I'm on a Win 8.1 and I could easily play the newest version a few days before without any problems. No Update or anything between the working game and the crashes.
It all started when I did take a screenshot with Steam (F12) ALT+TAB out of the game, send it to a friend on steam and tried to get back into the game. The game stopped working (which happens sometimes when using ALT+TAB with some games) and crashed. I wasn't worried because this can happen, so I did restart the game and it crashed right when the music starts to play on the loading screen.

    P.S: Alpha 10 is working

Steps to Reproduce: Starting the game on my computer ^^

To continue the response from your email:

Have you tried a older driver for your GPU ?
Do you have Citrix Receiver or Citrix Workspace installed? Try uninstalling them if you do.
This error is commonly triggered with Citrix workspace :
nvwgf2umx.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)
Google search link incase you haven't already look for this particular message

Also try adding Empyrion as a exception in your anti virus then try again.

Thanks for the fast response, I was thinking on opening a thread here as it will probably be more useful to others.

I did downgrade from 441.66 to 441.41 but no effect.
Did a downgrade to 436.02 (The oldest driver I found on the Nvidia website) but also no effect.

I do not have Citrix Receiver or Citrix Workspace installed.

I did search for this particular error and found a bunch of threads about this topic from different games. I did try most of the solutions but nothing did work for me. I did try the "sfc /scannow" for example and did take a look if all my libraries and drivers are up to date but also with no effect.

I did add Empyrion as a exception to my Windows Defender (Not using any 3rd party AV) but also no effect.

I did also try to disable the Steam Overlay, also no effect.

Edit: What I've seen is that the "NVIDIA LocalSystem Container" always shuts down a little before the game crashes. I don't know if this is just "bad luck" but it seems to happen always before the game crashes.
I'll attach a picture of the eventviewer, maybe this will help in some sort... I'll google it to see if this could be the problem:
    errors.png

After digging deeper into the eventviewer this seems to be "new" and probably caused by me downgrading the drivers.

    Update:
I really don't know why, but now it's working again

The last thing I did was downgrading the NVIDIA Driver and upgrading it again. (as you suggested) After that I did a restart and it seems that this solved my problem.
When I did reinstall the driver with DDU it didn't solve my problem, but it seems like this did finally solve my problem. I'll test it now for some hours and will see if the problem is solved or if it will happen again.

I did download the drivers to downgrade from here https://www.geforce.com/drivers and I didn't use DDU for it and it seems that made it work again. If not, I really don't know why it's working again now lol

Thanks for the support, now it's working with the 441.66 driver again! <3
