I don't know how many times I have come back to a game and the first thing I need to do is start my game play session with a rescue operation to either free or flip an upside down CV. I really don't want to spend half an hour trying to get to the ship unstuck from a platform or try to reach the cockpit seat in a massive upside down CV. They were perfectly parked when I left them btw. They somehow get stuck when loading in the chunks but how a CV gets flipped, that is still a mystery. Today I found my CV 150 meters away from the platform, upside down. Is there any good reason there is no docking for CVs?
You cannot stack docking. If the CV is docked to the base then sv and hv would need to be removed and put back every time it was docked.
This isn't an issue of CV's needing to be able to dock to bases. This is simply a game bug that shouldn't be happening. They are aware of it, but it hasn't been truly fixed yet. It is collider and bounding box bugs that are causing the CV to move on its own. Once they fix those bugs this won't happen anymore (and shouldn't be happening now).
Just to touch on this a little bit. CV's do dock currently. They dock to everything except for bases. The reason why they don't dock to bases anymore (they did at one point) is because of the multitude of complaints the devs got about it. See, when a vessel is docked its turrets and shields get disabled because of exploits. The reason people complained about CV to base docking was simple, their shields and turrets get deactivated every time they return to base and land their CV on the base. Since docking is automatic, and the player currently has (basically) no control over it, the devs decided to disable CV to base docking until they can implement manual control over docking. That way players will be able to choose to let it dock and disable shields and turrets or just not dock at all, therefore keeping shields and turrets active. Currently we have no control over it other than simply removing the landing gears entirely or hopping out of the cockpit before it has a chance to dock (which is like 1 second). So for now at least, it stays disabled.....
The problem is bases for us actually. We park our ships on the planet and since it is a server, we need to be able to turn them off so that they don't burn up all the fuel while we are gone. This is simply not a good solution for anyone, other than perhaps people not wanting to disable them while they park.
The CVs fuel consumption is really not a problem unless you have the repair system and shield active, switch them off. If really you need shields then have enough fuel... I have a big platform with autonomous flaks to protect the surroundings, I can never dock but I leave my weapons active without shields. That's always enough for me - in single player, in MP I don't know.
It is a problem when the server is running 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Even when we are offline, the fuel still is consumed. But this has nothing to do with the problem, it is just a side effect of it. The main issue is that CV's landed on a planet, either it is on bare ground or a platform, they sometimes fall through the terrain/platform, getting stuck or upside down.
Would it be possible for you to leave your character standing next to the a CV this happens with, close the server down & create a copy of the save & send me a copy of the save game ? I would like to try triggering this on my side.
Upload the save game to a file sharing site like google drive or dropbox & send me a share link. As always we need the entire save game so just make a compressed copy of the save game folder & uplaod that & also if it is using a custom scenario please also supply a copy of the scenario folder it uses (if it is using a stock scenario that is supplied with the stock Dedi server files you don't need to do this). Thanks.
So where do I upload this file? Says it is too big to upload here. I compressed it in ultra setting, and it shaved of nearly 35% of the size too.
Actually, they don't rise but rather they sometimes sink through blocks, specially if they are just a platform.
My theory, without seeing the program code myself, but seeing this as I load a game, has something to do with the physic simulation. When the ship is again loaded into the game, by proxy or loading into a save game/server, the ship is affected by gravitation simulation. If the blocks belonging to the base is loaded after, it gets encapsulated into the base. Basically because it will try to align with the ground, as the blocks to the base is not yet loaded. As for the ship bouncing. I think it may be the same thing, except a minor collision cause it to repel the CV due do the nature of collision. Does this sound probable?
A potential fix for this will be available in the next release "v1.5.1". If you find the "Rise" still happens for you please send us a copy of the servers logs folder (3384 which contains the dedicated_log's & Playfield_log's) & note down the time in the playfield log the "Rise" of the vessel happened so we have a starting point on where to look in the log. Thanks!
There is still some issues with the current terrain. As of now our server is at 1.5.1. Just a few days ago we spawned a blueprint in which I built in 1.5.0, but the terrains wasn't exactly the same. When approaching the base, the terrain surrounding the base will be visibly as it was when I saved the blueprint in 1.5.0, but when getting closer, the terrain changes to the correct terrain as it is now in 1.5.1. Edit: We started a new savegame for 1.5.1 and chose a new seed. In other words, we started of from scratch in 1.5.1. Just to make that clear and as to why the terrain wasn't exactly the same. This causes specially the hover vessels gets thrown in the air by this, as it first is falling down to the original terrain when I saved it, and shoots up into the air as the terrain is corrected. I will provide a savegame soon but I will need to take down the server and I will do that at a more convenient time.
With the save can you also supply a copy of the servers logs: & also a short video showing the issue trigger ? Thanks.
