This is very strange no one has reported such an issue...just a stab in the dark can you confirm what version of .Net is installed of the affected system ? A quick way to do this is to go to: C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319 place your mouse cursor over "Accessibility.dll" right click & select Properties > Details & make sure the file version says: "File version: 4.8 4084.0"
I did not have any corrupted Save game on my end, neither before Unity upgrade nor after(still don't). But I have only Win7 and my File version is a different one
No idea why this machine is affected, not able to reproduce it on my own system and haven’t seen anyone else mention it (though I’m not sure if that might be due to the relatively small number of testers in Experimental). Even tried renaming the save game folder so that the game would recreate it in case there was some weird permissions issue, which it did, but the issue still happens (all the files and folders in a normal new game are there, in a freshly created Saves folder, but the game still complains it’s corrupt). Both the affected and unaffected systems are on the Windows 10 21H1 update.
After swapping save files between the two systems (and renaming the .ply file as appropriate for the different Steam IDs), I’ve a couple of extra data points: Save games started on the affected system also appear corrupt on the unaffected system. Save games started on the unaffected system do not initially appear corrupt when resuming on the affected system, but after loading the game and exiting to the menu, the save is corrupted.
Seems to point towards an Issue with @elmo 's Engine... any background update running yesterday? I looked up issues with .NET and found this - > https://thetechyinfo.com/fix-net-framework-issue/ in which NVIDIA is named too. If life is not entertaining enough have issues with a Computer and all hell breaks loose
That issue causes system performance issues, though, and not any issues with .NET functionality. It doesn’t look like it’s related to this issue.
Just tried a complete reinstall (with fresh EGS Steam folder), and that made no difference either. Stumped with this one, can’t think of anything else to try.
More testing: replaced the .ply file in the corrupted save game with a copy from my own (uncorrupted) version of the save game and started it on the unaffected system. The game was playable, and all structures were present, so it appears that it’s only the .ply file that gets corrupted on the affected system.
I am getting a CoQ when I exit the game and go back to the main menu. It has happened both times I exited my survival game. The save has loaded when I came back to it, but this may be related.
Might be worth reporting that as it’s own bug so that it doesn’t get lost in this thread. The exceptions in the log look different, so I think that’s probably an unrelated issue.
Please update to v1.5.5 B3437 now available on the exp branch & see if the issue is now resolved for you.
just tried this on new game and it is working fine and all other games started that were showing as corrupt are now okay. Thank you very much and I'll get back to playing properly after dinner.
Thanks for the feedback! It was a regression from the fix for this https://empyriononline.com/threads/...d-toolbar-after-loading-save-game-7315.93187/
