Rather than wavy water or even crouching, I'd dearly love an end to these accursed holes. That was the only thing worth mention in my letter to Santa.
Annoying AF... I know. I can't remember how many times I have reported this but the holes are gone after starting a save game. Also it is seemingly random when and where it happens. So far I found no reliable way to trigger it. Otherwise the Devs would have been able to squash that nasty Bug.
I just restarted the same saved game from whence I captured the screenshots, and the triangular hole reappeared in precisely the same location. It was joined by an entirely new one nearby and both disappeared when I left the spot and returned, sooo....
Maybe if Eleon played their game for hundreds or thousands of hours they'd encounter the bug and be motivated to pin down how/why/when it occurs?
So either they have not bumped into this bug which so many of us have, or they simply turn the app on and leave it running idle? Or they don't care? Or its just too complicated? And no, I was not aware that their Steam accounts are visible nor who "they" are.
There's another instance of this bug that is perfectly repeatable AND repeats at intervals: the water surface of ocean planets. Small triangular holes in the water surface appear at repeating intervals at the same latitude. They're always the same size, always triangular, always repeat, and always occur on every ocean planet. That instance, at least, Eleon should have been able to fix if they were motivated, given its guaranteed repeatability. It's not fixed.
My personal favorite render glitch right now are some of the crops in space-based bases that are not aligned with the XYZ grid- the wheat doesn't render until you're within a meter and blinks in and out as you turn around. The hands down winner is a dead plant that can't be removed and has the same issue. I think it happened because I removed the grow plot before trying to get the plant but in any case, having something that looks like skeletal fingers appear right next to you as you start to turn is always good for a jump scare. It's been there for two weeks so I don't think it's going to float away anytime soon.
Those who want to be visible are visible. And have no other account names than here. But that is not the Them of the Thread so I and this 'back and forth' herewith.
Can you spot/ show on the planet's map where these missing triangles are lined up ? You can find the map for any planet in the savegame folder in Saves\Cache\(your save name)\Playfields\(folder with playfield name)\map.png. You could use this to see where these triangles appear (ex. along edge of image or somewhere else).
To be fair G, I think his point is that if the devs engaged with their product the way players do without GM enabled and starting from planet fall, making a good faith effort to approach challenges in new ways they would encounter a lot of the "death by a thousand cuts" pains that have been in the bug & feature request backlogs since before the 9.n releases. It can become easy to say not a bug or can't repo if you don't repeatedly bash your head on problems the same unstructured way most players who are new to the game (or the ancients for that matter) do. Getting into a peep hole optimization way of looking at stuff is hard to break. Making a point to do this for a few hours once a week as a group wouldn't slow them down that much and the live discussions that come out of such a process could be productive. At Microsoft we called it eating your own dogfood and it's mandatory across the entire company for everything they sell.
It also doesn't help that apparently most (all?) of the time they try to reproduce bugs in the dev build of the game and NOT the Steam released versions of the game. I'm willing to bet that has A LOT to do with the constant "unable to reproduce" tags we see....... Just saying. You can't say it doesn't make a difference, because it does. Perfect example: https://empyriononline.com/threads/...o-load-and-gravity-testing.98867/#post-443708 Volume and mass setting has NEVER worked in creative (in the Steam builds), ever since day 1 of them being added to the game. We've pointed it out to the devs multiple times. There are multiple discussions on it from back when volume and mass was added to the game. Yet, until very recently, some of the devs thought it ALWAYS worked in creative mode because they have always tested it in the dev build and apparently not a single time in the actual builds they are putting out on Steam. Starting to see where I am going with this?.... Clearly there ARE major differences, and maybe, just maybe, those differences are the reason on why we have SOOOOO many unresolved long standing bugs. That's my 2c
That isn't true all bugs are looked for in the steam client which is exactly the same as what all players have access to. If there is a way to reliably reproduce this pleas make a bug report & supply a use case with the save game attached. https://empyriononline.com/forums/bugs.24/ Personally I've never experienced this particular issue you show.
