This is something speculative but did you exit the session and start a new savegame OR did it happen when you started a new game while you did not close Empyrion (same session). Maybe you did use Creative mode before the faulty fire-rain session OR use the Debug menu sliding the time back and forth in the previous game/creative game BEFORE starting the game where the fire-rain then happened?
The first instance of this with the save I deleted was the first attempt at a brand new game from fresh, manually set custom settings, after having deleted all previous game saves from the saves folder directly some days (several boot sessions) before. So nothing was loaded before the start. When testing the seed for the above report I did not exit the client main menu and started new games using previous game settings. At no time have I used creative mode at all nor the debug menu to change game time. I did look up the seed # of a previous game when testing to make the bug report but nothing at all with debug or creative before the original incident. I have just now tested the seed again by making sure not to start any other gamesaves in that session of Empyrion. It did seem to vary with RND a little, some of the resource yields varied for example as well as which weather condition started at the given time interval. e.g. I started fresh at Skillon using that seed 662249 and the first time it produced a heat wave after 12 in-game minutes and then I exited the client completely and tried again (without rebooting the OS Win10 but after completely shutting down Empyrion) and second time it produced fire rain again instead of heat wave at exactly the same time, 8:38 to sun down. OK I have subsequently retested the seed and varied my own pattern of movement in the game and after about 5 tests where the same seed did produce fire rain or heatwave, it seemed to stop doing so when I moved south instead of north for the next 4. I cant make sense of that because I dont know how the RND system works, whether it is taking cues from avatar actions or pulling a factor from the system clock or something. The save above though is saved with fire rain active, which proves I am not fibbing.
I am recalling this from memory. I deleted the game. My seed started wth a 3 and was 6 digits. Game settings were Medium with kit set to hard , cpu on, no wear, and drone presence and attack high. I started game on August 30 (1.8.8). COOP game with start on Skillon. I am playing solo. Pod landed. I picked up gear. It was too hot. Note: temp ~10 degrees higher than brief on planet said it could get. I proceded to look around for 30 secs. I triggered a dialog of some sort. I attempted to close dialog. Clicking on X in upper right corner had no effect. All keyboard and mouse input appeared to be ignored except for cursor movement. I killed the game. This left the server running. I attempted to restart game to rejoin server. Client would launch then die. I save and quit server. Again, I launched the game. I resumed previous game. Upon entry I was hit with fire rain. The game server was running 3 to 4 minutes total. When entering the server the second time: the time of day appeared to be similar to when I left and I appeared in the expected location. Edit: typos
Should it be considered a bug? Skillon is quite challenging, but one can dig a cave to wait for the rain, multitool is provided on the start. Might be hard to get oxygen in this scenario though.
Yes I think it is a bug, the start period/location of grace is intentional in Empyrion. Cave will not protect from killer heat which accompanies fire rain. Only tent can get you through at a squeak because sleep does not reduce oxygen but tent does not work properly to clear weather as mentioned above so heat remains an issue and can kill.
