the possibilities of the npcs is there , they could be more alive or usefull , i dont know if its possible but a couple of things that would make them more " alive " ( besides the improvement or change of the curret models ) things like : - Recongnize you ( if you buy them at least call you like " commander " ) - able to walk , even on certain patterns , could be set up with the motion sensor but instead of an activation area would be like a " route " that the npc can take - give you advice : warn you about some danger or planet or even suggest something - Special Npcs: give you buffs like : mote O2 , fuel , more jump warp , damage to turrets etc etc , they could have a profession like engineer, soldiers , etc. and even a name to make them unique -follow you or do patrol : in the same spirit of being able to walk , we could have an option to make them to rounds or give us the option to buy a "spawn " to have our own droids , alien etc as our npcs with the same function that they have on the POis -Send them on missions : like getting a certain object or item , they could dissapear and spawn again after the task is complete or fails -Salaries : we should be able to pain them credits , lets say once per week , that could improve their rank or proffesion and abilites. hope something its usefull , idk how many of these suggestion are already there on other threads . hope you like them .
Ive had a similar idea for awhile! Have NPCs that have roles so you actually have a crew. Exp: -Damage Control, NPCs will run around repairing interior structural damage to your ship in fights. -Gunners, if you have multiple cockpits in your CV you can assign NPCs as gunners to increase range or accuracy or rounds per min of your guns. -Gardeners, self explanitory. -Engineers, will run around repairing Generators, tanks, thrusters etc.. in a fight
That's a nice idea to make the CV more alive. Boost for range and accuracy sounds fine, but I would even make the turrets totally controlled by "crew" members rather that some AI in CPU extender. So for each turret one has to provide a crew member and some place he/she would sit at. If this part of the ship gets damaged and the crew member dies, one turret goes off. And some random scenarios might be imposed, where a crew member gets drunk and looses accuracy or wants to stop those interstellar adventures and resigns leaving the player with -1 turret
What about a moral officer, the girl in white shorts can walk round being 'hot' and if you call her 'Captain tight pants' she'll break out into a little dance before wandering off again! Com' on Santa, it's Christmas!
