I made these cargo pods (I call them Portable Storage Units or PRU for refrigeration) for a CV of mine. Portable Storage Unit http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=864796999 Portable Refrigeration Unit 1 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=864796909 Portable Refrigeration Unit 2 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=868813633 You could try something like those, although in your hauler I guess it makes sense that they would dock into a larger pod that would then dock into the CV, but obviously we cant do that yet. You could make a more industrial version of something like this (this is a small 24 container hauler), less spaceship/more container looking. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=870141847
Super sized! Industrial styled I had made a smaller one back in the day (more home friendly style): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=722580568 And the fancier utility stack: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=848151017 Its fun making 'useful stuff' out of vehicles than how they were intended huh! Someone around here has a Hover pallete for cargo, has a seat, hover engines, but its really small and has tons of cargo... lets you move it around easy.
Actually the way you have that... you COULD replace the thin wall blocks with the "R" and "C" with LCD panels, and you can really go to town with some stock information and stuff
I have one (or actually many) that I use one every day, just a simple hover platform with 12 large containers and docking pads all around. Haul your cargo and stick it onto your CV. Here I am emptying Hydrogen generators (way back when you got tons of O2 as a side product): I have few other variants of this. I just love all kinds of utility stuff, vehicles for some specific purpose.
They are really awesome. But what I was meaning is the large grey cargo modules you can see in the pic instead of that being part of the CV just make them separate SV's with the same shape, you would have to play around to get the size just right, Then just dock them to the CV in the position shown in the pic.
I hear ya. That is why I was suggesting to make something like the spaceship I had made with 24 containers, but more industrial/container looking because the "pallet" style cargo containers would not really work for his design, he needs a larger SV that looks more container than SV. I have been sketching a large hauler (maybe not as large as his though) with container SVs, but mine would be more spaceship/container hybrid than straight up container.
We kinda think alike I had considered that, but I wanted a way to be able to tell the containers apart without wasting power for the best fuel effiency. If we could put two letters on one block, I would have made 1 a LCD and the other a paintable surface.
I like your fridge unit cause it looks like a fridge and could be easily placed in a kitchen. I made my first "utility" SV cause my GF and I play together. I was making our base in survival and she was making our home. The issue was she wanted the garden and kitchen in her home but I was online more than her. I made a fridge SV unit cause it was cheaper to fuel than leaving her place on while my place was on. I have a "skunk works" area that I build in on my base and I needed it powered up but did not want to power up her house just for the food. Anyway, I ultimately remedied the issue by building my base literally into her house (her house sits in the middle of our walled base). The Kitchen floor and 2 walls in her house are actually my base, the other two walls and the ceiling are her house. You can stand in her house in the kitchen, and if you power it off, it shuts the power in my base.
@Pyston. That PRU - Portable Refrigeration Unit looks like something I had in mind to build for some time now.You made it happen and it is nice. The only problem I find and it is the main reason I never bothered try to build my own SV refrigerator is that if you have it docked you need to be close to it or ontop in order to access the containers/fridges. If I pilot a large CV with cockpit far from the exits I need to take a small trip in order to feed my character. For that I had in mind to ask the developers to design self powered refrigerators but again I did not bother since it is not something really needed, at leat not now, and I know they have in mind tons of other cool stuff to make in the mean time. It would be good if they actually do it eventually.
I prefer the immersive aspect of actually clicking on containers and fridges etc to use them. I rarely ever use the menu to access cargo containers or fridges. I always go to their location and click on them. So I guess for me it would never be an issue. As far as operating the PRU, you don't have to stand on top of it to access anything. I have 4 flat blocks you can stand on in the front of it to turn the system on and off or access the fuel tanks. If you use the MKII version of the fridge http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=868813633 and you fill it with Fusion Cells, it will last 24 DAYS without needing refueled. If you have a kitchen area, this will take 1 block of space (well the 4 flat block extend out, but you need a path anyway so no issues). I would just dump one in there to access food.
Why yes, that is indeed a SuperHaulter. The Deliverance This ship is warp capable, requires no rare ores, and once all eight cargo pods have been mounted, can carry 15888 boxes of cargo. That's right. Fifteen Thousand. oh, the fun and games of abusing Small Vessels. Now, she's a freighter, not a fighter, but she can handle a few drones, so keep on trucking whereever you like.
Sweet! Bet she'd be real useful for carrying all the 10 billion Concrete Blocks that come about as a result of Underground Base diggers like me!
Hello Galactic Survivors! Here is the new starter CV and custom Base from [MAF] http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=872964245 Metallicus and Faber Serving the needs of the Modern Warfighter!
Maybe something like the cargo pods i modified and posted a while back (Modded and purpose built from someone else). http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=799341619
Cheyenne XXV - Expanded hangar - Expanded bridge - Rear area converted to hover vehicle hangar - Engineering room overhauled - Lover area converted to living quarters - Added bigger engines and removed many smaller ones - Added things - Added stuff
Fresh from MoelWerks comes our revamped Galaxy Class Hauler* The Humpback! we decided that our older version needed a few** changes to bring it inline with our more recent designs, thus, we embarked on a programme of blueprint sorcery the likes of which we never want to attempt again*** Spoiler: This is the result. The sharp eyed amongst you will notice that this is indeed, two submissions in one. 41 Humpback is the "naked" variant, and 42 Humpback is one with sample cargo holds. we will possibly be releasing more variants with different cargo options, although the scope of those is still to be decided, depending on when/if we get copy/paste functionality.*** We hope you like it**** * Yeah, you could probably stuff a galaxy in there, the neutron stars might be a bit of a squeeze though ** Just a few *** Please Eleon - give us copy/paste..... pretty please? **** Yeah, it's probably not much use to anyone, who wants *just* a massive hauler?
