Not much work today, Had to do the responsible Dad thing and fix stuff at my Son's place. But... Medical Center Chow hall.
Building the interior of my survival CV and trying out a more open style of ship instead of a lot of small hallways. Trying out a new design using the core block.
Oh no, now you're going to hate me! I do really like the dark green combat steel variant. The dark blue with grey combat steel is also fabulous. But, to make matters even worse, I sure like the white combat steel variant! There's something disconcerting about it, like it's trying to look as unthreatening as possible to work as a lure for humans. Since the other variants look super appealing to me, while the white one looks great and makes me feel a bit uneasy looking at it--white could be the way to go??
Yesterday I finished up the LCDs for the Technician's Office on Wyvern's 3rd floor (turns out I'll probably work on this floor for another week). Later, @Friendly Timo and I enjoyed a game session on the Survival mode server. I really wanted to take Gryphon for a test fly, and Timo joined me in Trident. Unfortunately the weather wasn't so good for pictures. Looking at them from this angle finally solved my mystery of how to paint Trident. We enjoyed some hunting--you can live off Zirax veggies, but Dino Stew, Pizza and even canned meat are necessary for a well balanced survival diet. At one point, we were shooting some Arachnids and Timo blasted a couple from the air with the plasma cannon and it made quite deep craters in the ground. It was impressive enough, but when I went into one to gather the meat from the kill, I found a chunk of crushed stone in the crater! I had no idea you could shoot the ground severely enough to make crushed stone. Finally, we saw that one of the Armories hadn't regenerated, and it really bothered me to see that because our time at Oscutune was cut short by POIs not regenerating properly. We landed to go examine the POI, and heard Zirax inside. I don't know if that explains why the place never regenerated, but we returned to base to drop off unnecessary items and get ready for a little raid. We killed a lone Zirax and quickly discovered the POI had no power. The place was full of loot, with many cargo boxes on one side blown up and the loot was waiting in the drop cases. The core was taken out already too. @Friendly Timo thinks it's from the test drive of Venomsmite, our newest HV. I don't know why we never returned for the loot--it must've been too late at night and we just forgot. ?? I really hope POIs are still regenerating as they should. At the end of our game session, we salvaged almost all the building materials from the Armory. One time I went into the ship to drop off my steel plates, etc and saw a whole pile of little boxes at Timo's feet! I thought it must be because of using the personal drone for salvaging--if your inventory gets full, the little boxes drop at the player's feet instead of all over the POI ruins. I asked and he replied, "I accidentally." I thought it was a funny sight--but there were three times as many boxes at his feet before I was able to snap the picture. It probably was less funny to him, having to pick up all the contents of a full cargo box or boxes?
Now don't get me wrong, I haven't tried that myself, but let's check the idea behind: 1)A) We need the playfield and the coordinates. Open/Run Empyrion, load your Save - it should say at his description/location where you are. For this example we assume Akua. (But I will cover any) Load your Save. Open the Console. In germany it's the "Ö"-Key, should be "~" or "[" (right to the L) otherwise. Type in "di" (without the ""), this will show you a small debug information screen with your own Coordinates and the ID/Coordinates of the Structure your pointing at (you need to be in close range of course). Note these coordinates of the Asteroid. Good. 1)B) Now we need the Asteroid-Type. Let's load the playfield.yaml. Open your Window Explorer and navigate to C:\STEAM\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Content\Playfields Your Steam diectory might differ, please apply your own path here. Now you did note which Playfield you had? For Akua its SpaceAsteroidFieldRingAkua for Omicron its SpaceAsteroidFieldOmicron ... (to be total generic, navigate to C:\STEAM\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Content\Sectors and open Sectors.yaml in an Editor (Notepad++ or Textpad, DO NOT USE standard NotePad or Word or the like!!!) Search [YourPlanet] (with yourPlanet replaced of course ;-) you will find something like: Code: - Coordinates: [90, 5, 115] Color: 0.04, 0.3, 0.37 Icon: Circle OrbitLine: True Playfields: - ['0, 0, 0', Akua Orbit, SpaceAsteroidFieldRingAkua] - ['0, 0, 0', Akua, Temperate, 'Human:1'] - ['-6500, 5000, 6500', Akua Moon, Moon] The intersting parts is the [YourPlanet] Orbit-line, the words after is the needed DirectoryName: SpaceAsteroidFieldRingAkua Good. 1)C) Now navigate into that Directory (I assume Akua again): C:\STEAM\SteamApps\common\Empyrion - Galactic Survival\Content\Playfields\SpaceAsteroidFieldRingAkua You will find ONE file there, and it's always called: playfield.yaml Open this file, it contains the complete description what to be generated in your Game. AND Orbits are FIXED always! Now scroll a bit down you will find a line called "### POIs" All POIs are now listed there, and you also will find all Ressource-Asteroids, as like I said, they are only Prefabs/POIs. Example: Code: - Type: AsteroidVoxel01Sathium Prefab: AsteroidVoxel01Sathium Name: Sathium Asteroid Pos: [ -6302, 73, -2486 ] Rot: [ 0, 0, 0 ] What's the interesting parts here? a) - Type: AsteroidVoxel01Sathium : The first part defines the Asteroid-Type, there are 01, 02 and a 03 Version of it, yielding different ammount of Ore; the second Part is the Ore-Type You see, you can add new Ressource-Asteroid too, if you make the same Naming!! ;-) Prefab and Name are similar and should be clear now. b) Pos: THIS are the Coordinates - FIXED!! - of this Asteroid, it will ALWAYS spawn in ANY Game INDEPENDENTLY from you choosen seed. This applies to 6.7, this can change of course in the future!!!! Rot is Rotation, I've always only seen 0,0,0, but Scenario-Makers ofcourse can change here... Now find your Asteroid by searching your noted Coordinates (they won't be exactly and very close). Good. We take approach 3) take another look at these POI list, above the Asteroid. Code: - Type: BA_Admin Prefab: TSO_AkuaOrbit Mode: Survival Name: TSO Akua Pos: [ -4400, 2000, -250 ] Rot: [ 0, -50, 0 ] InitPower: True Properties: - Key: Music Value: NebularClouds That's the Code for an POI, again harcoded/fixed. Now add another POI (YourPOI) with Position closely to the former found Asteroid. This will be some Trial and Error to get the Position and possibly Rotation correct, but that's the way to do. Hope this has helped ;-) (How to make a POI, f.e. assigning the Groupname etc. is another Lesson... ;-)
It could have been me too. I *think* I blasted one armory with my SV last time we were online (target practice, what can I say ). If anyone hasn't been on the server since, it still might need a while to regenerate I suppose....
oh crap at least it seems that we are not sooo different in stlye. I also found the white stuff intresting, so i posted it here too. But i dunno if a whole ship kinda overkill it. But at least u brought the combat style texture into the game, thnx for that Soooo experimenting is on the line
That would explain the damage to the structure! The power running out is what made me think the lone Zirax prevented the regeneration, and then the power continued to drain when we played on the server. However, it could have something to do with not being on the server very much in the past week. I was under the impression that the regeneration time was based on the server's time rather than active playtime, but if that's not entirely true, it might also explain the Oscutune issue.
got the server finally finished and application in for official server then played with the crew on killing some bases, had some small lag spikes but found it was game related because of bugs. Server: SBS - PvPvE - 24/7 - Dedicated
Thanks mate, I built a lite version last night also that requires no sathium and costs significantly less and is 2t less in weight ;D http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1125044133
Realized I must be finally too old and slow to figure out how the heck to get a custom server running and logged out to lower frustration levels. Still love the game though! Just too dumb to figure out server setup or understand the guides.
A long standing project to rebuild the ship that started it all off for me; after seeing this in Space Engineers I was thoroughly hooked on big builds. It also formed the basis for a much larger ship which was the first thing I built in Empyrion.
Looking interesting & I can imagine when you 2 are done detailing this its going to look awesome. One of the 1st things that I thought of though when I imagine spawning this in 'I felt a great disturbance in my PC, as if millions of transistors suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.'
I couldn't find a better topic, sorry. Where the actual f... so... where is that planet "Merr"? Google didn't help, star map doesn't show any planet under the name... I've no idea... Seems obvious to anyone -except me -. Thanks lads! (let me know if there's a better, like, a q&a topic for silly questions like this. Cheers!)
