Would like to get a bit of feedback from you. Positive, negative, slam it in my face Its a small scenario with only my base spawned. As i don't want to spoil your exploration later it is mostly outside and the top level rooms. extract to your scenario subfolder and please don't forget to give some kind of feedback afterwards. As of my new job eats away alot of my time, the finishing will take a bit more time as wished. PS: the core placement is an placeholder if you wonder...
Finished the overhaul of the FA-032A Infiltrator into the FA-032B Infiltrator today. I might change the name though, it's not accurate to the function of the craft. It's a CV and not a particularly stealthy one at that. The new and improved version uses the newer block shapes that weren't available at the time it was built, has a shield generator and a lot more storage space. Too much storage space, actually. It's more like an armed cargo freighter now. Here's the old, original FA-032A. It's more or less a bigger version of the FA-030 Instigator. At least I think it was the 030, might've been 031... It's definitely not 033, that's the Millenium. Here's the new version flying in formation with his little bros (034B). This one I know is the bigger version of the FA-034B Intimidator. Nice new paintjob using the new colors i've been sticking on the overhauled ships (5 different shades of gray; Ten times less than a book ;P) It can actually land on its landing gears now, unlike the old one which kind of landed on its face. Replaced the "wing shields" with "turrets" like the ones on the FA-005C; though you can't see them in this screenshot. Has two flight modes for flying in atmosphere: One is for heavy cargo that adjusts the number of vertical thrusters active so it can hover on a full tank for 3 hours unladen. Otherwise, at full power it runs out in about 55 mins. The second mode shuts down the big XXL thrusters and the fixed weapons, and relies on the smaller M-thrusters for propulsion. No need to empty a full tank in under 10 mins on thrusters that can't push faster than 40m/s or on guns that won't fire. That's in low power mode there. Only 4 S-thrusters and 2 M-thrusters are keeping it up. On full power mode, there are 10 more M-thrusters to keep it up. And there's the interior. In order: Cargo Bay (can fit most small HVs in there), one of the bedrooms, Medbay, Lounge, Kitchen/Dining Room, and the Bridge. Showers and toilets are in the main corridor between the bedrooms. The ship is designed for 3 people, but can easily hold a crew twice that size by replacing the beds with bunks. And... one last shot of the rear, so you can see the thrusters and the wing-turrets.
I was up way too late again last night working on this POI. It's hard to stop when you get into the groove. Anyways I got all the tunnels laid out for the alien bug lair. I'm pretty stoked with how this is shaping up. There's mushroom farms and egg chambers, and bits and pieces of a long abandoned buried temple complex the bugs have taken over. Spoiler This is the main building and probably where most people will enter unless they make the mistake of jumping down one of the dirt mound entrances outside. I'm going to have easier mobs here with a slightly tougher mob upstairs. I'll probably place a couple more mobs around in various parts of the main building but nothing too difficult. Eventually people will make their way down to the mine tunnels where they'll find more mobs and the entrance to the bug lair....unless they jump down the holes in the dirt mounds. Bring enough ammo and med packs because you'll have to fight your way out if you do that. I've made accommodations though. The difficulty level will scale depending on which part of the complex you're in. I'm still deciding on textures and stuff. Part of the reason I switched up the theme by adding the temple stuff was to keep things interesting visually. I'm also trying to figure out how I'm going to light the tunnels. Need. More. Textures. Especially emissive ones for xenosteel and they need to be colorable.
I've only ever made one POI before and it wasn't very good so this has been a bit of a learning experience.
I don't even know if I still have the blueprint. I think I posted it in the Buildings and Blueprints forum at one point though. Edit: Found it. Partway down the page. https://empyriononline.com/threads/share-your-blueprints-with-empyrion.1499/page-20
Empyrion does NOT like it when the computer shuts down unexpectedly(lost power the other day and just now got a blue screen). It's corrupted my save file each time. Fortunately my blueprints are intact. Might be time to make another backup.
That is (for me) part of the reason why I am using a Laptop - to be save from electrical malfunctions
I'm starting to get some ideas about how to utilize the limited textures and color palette for xenosteel blocks and make these bug tunnels look a bit more lively. Spoiler One of the mushroom farm rooms.
Those looks awesome so far! You can copy and paste either grown or growing crops in creative mode onto any surface, and sometimes in any orientation. You can place actual mushrooms or other crops in there if you want for a POI base.
Hrm....I might have to experiment with that. It would be a lot easier if they'd just add a bunch of plants/trees/crops to the plant deco block though. Edit: Yeah that'll work. Spoiler
