Mode: Survival Mode: Singleplayer SEED-ID: 1112717 MODIFIED PLAYFIELDS: NO Reproducibility: Always Severity: Major Type: Warping Summary: Unable to warp and can't progress in the game the expected way. Description: I started a new game with the update to 11.1 (build 2817) using the default random scenario. I got to the point I had a warp SV and tried to warp to the only two planets available for first warp and am unable to warp anywhere. One of them is marked as 16.3 AU and is therefore unavailable. The other one is marked as 15.0 AU but I still can't warp and am told SV's can only warp 15 AU. I can't warp the expected way and so I can't progress in the game anymore. Game over since I can't continue to explore and collect the needed resources in vast quantities. I'm stuck in the starter orbit (Olos). Steps to Reproduce: All I did was start a new game with the default random scenario.
Here is the save file. This really sucks because I already have a good amount of time invested in this game.
Sorry, I meant to include all that info. You are just too fast, lol. I started with the arid planet selection, large type. Here is my difficulty settings just in case that matters.
I started another game as a test and it didn't happen this time but it can happen none the less. The concerning issue it that the warp I need that has both sathium and neodymium is the one marked as 15.0 AU and yet the game still won't allow me to warp there because it says I can only warp 15 AU. Wtf??
The problem is the Arid starter planet doesn't have any other planets listed as a neighbor, so it's not guaranteed to spawn a planet within SV warp range. The solution for the devs is to add a neighbor to the Arid starter so it always spawns a snow or desert planet within SV warp range, IF this is not intended. What you can do is salvage a wrecked capital ship on the Arid planet, in orbit, or on the moon. There should be plenty of resources to build a basic warp capable CV. You're not stuck.
I know I can do that, but that's not the point. The intended progression is to use a warp SV to warp to the nearest planet to collect the next resources and I can not. Even though there is a planet that is exactly 15.0 AU I can NOT warp there. This is a bug that needs fixed. This whole restriction of 15AU needs lifted anyways now a days. Either way there is a bug here because I have a planet at 15.0 AU and can not warp.
I guess for the time being I'll just resort to cheating and using the teleport command. I'm not starting another new game because of this bug. Please still look into this though, thanks.
A fix for this now released on the experimental branch https://empyriononline.com/threads/alpha-11-5-experimental-refinements.91665/
