Using a Container Controller ( Ore and Wood ), wood collects okay.

It seems the HV Mechanical Drill (the small one), is not moving materials into Wood/Ore container controllers. Have not yet tested the Large or Laser versions. Confirmed, HV Laser drill also does not collect materials (rocks) when mining. Have not tested on voxel resources, but is certainly inconvenient enough where surface deposits are concerned.
I know it works on voxel digging... maybe its just with the top-objects that is causing issues? Do you have a blueprint of the ship that is causing this issue?
I do. I can also test voxel mining, but can definitely confirm no materials harvested from surface rocks - they just pile up on the ground and must be hand-collected.
It's been like this for a while now. Would be nice to get it fixed as being able to collect surface rocks with an HV, make early game a lot more fun. Having to constantly get out your vehicle, to pick up the crushed rock by hand, is tedious and shouldn't be necessary.
Especially if you have ONLY surface rocks and NO Deposits...would be fine to get those crushed Stone picked up automatically again.
I stopped putting drills on my harvesting hover because of this. Although now it is tier 3 because storage boxes require lots of CPU. It takes lots of CPU to keep track of an empty box.
I only use it as a tank and I don't see good digs. An SV with more functionality would permanently eliminate the HV in my opinion.-
HV need a boost to make them better at carrying heavy loads. They should be able to carry way more volume and weight than an SV in my opinion. I much prefer to use HV than SVs as you get to see more of the terrain and interact with it. M&V has killed HV functionality as a load carrier, which is a shame, as it should really shine in this regard.
For me, I've always found HV drills useful, specifically: 1. When building an underground/inground base. 2. Excavating large quantities of crushed stone to produce cement/cement blocks 3. Excavating voxel resources accessible from a level side-entry.* 4. Clearing large areas of surface rock. 5. Removing extremely large rocks. 6. Harvesting resource meteorites. * Assuming voxel-mining is working correctly, this is less of a concern at this point. If you're not familiar with level side-entry, this is resources found in mountainous terrain, which can be approached from the side, keeping an HV level on approach, as drilling downwards with an HV is both a trick and a challenge, as well as a good way to get stuck.
Drop a few upward thrusters on the bottom of one and see what happens. Or strap on more large hover pads. I've brewed up a few HV's that have rivaled CV's in size. If it weren't for the device limitations they'd make amazing mobile bases. But as it stands, only a BA can have an ATM, Deconstructor or Furnace, so... stuck building BA's.
That was before CPU though. Have you tried to make a cargo hauling HV since M&V and CPU? If so, what weight were you able to haul?
I haven't tried a large one yet. My small one does alright though. I'll post specs a bit later. It's not the prettiest thing you'd ever see, but it's 100% functional, hauls a bit over 3500 units, and suffers no notable performance loss at full capacity.
