My night vision goggles seem to have stopped working. I have NVGs in my inventory but pushing "L" just cycles my shoulder light on and off. Everything was working fine yesterday, was wondering if it might be caused by the July 22nd update to Reforged Eden. Anybody else having this issue?

Thank you! I had no idea the NVGs were connected to the helmet. I almost always wear the helmet but took it off while on a planet with breathable atmosphere.

While that may be true, the tooltip for them in vanilla game play does say you need the helmet on, i guess they could be a helmet lens or maybe they are just to big to fit your head without the helmet.

I am not sure if that is something that can be edited or is a issue with the way the Night Vision Googles have been configured.

I believe they were originally a suit booster since they're grouped with the boosters, along with the handheld detector and ore scanner as "Suit Equipment".

Looking at ItemConfig, it doesn't appear so, unfortunately

NVG equipment doesn't need a helmet today; I find it hard to believe that would regress in 500 years

    Hi,

I started a new Project Eden game this evening on Oscotune and I'm seeing lots of holes in the landscape as I wander around. If I'm near a hole and pick a plant, the hole instantly seals and the terrain is fine again. However, this does make things a little more challenging at times.

I've just come off of a Vanilla game (Snow start) and had zero terrain holes but it was a different starting planet of course. I know this isn't a new issue, but it does just seem to affect PE, unless I've just been unlucky in that regard.

Also, I'm having issues where grass, plants etc. are not cleared around POI's so it clips into the model. I had this with Reforged Eden too, but not in vanilla. I know these issues have been noted before, is there any fix for this?

Edit: check out the attached picture, this is a view from my underground base...yep, that should all be solid rock!

Those would be game bugs, not the scenario. The scenario has no control over whether terrain deco is cleared from POIs or the rendering of the terrain.

Ok, but why do you think this issue seems much more prevalent (for me at least) in Project Eden and Reforged Eden, but not during vanilla play? I'm not doubting you, but there's something odd going on here as this has been consistent for me over several PE/RE and Vanilla starts. I know my vanilla plays lately have all been on the Snow starter planet (no such issues) and my current PE is Oscotune (Ocean) though I don't recall seeing it on the Dark Rogue start I did, but I did on other starts.

I'll try to make a note of exactly where I see this issue, to see if there's some pattern when it comes to triggering it. To be clear, the non-cleared terrain deco has been an issue in all of my recent PE / RE games consistently, but NOT in any of my recent Vanilla games. The holes in the terrain thing is less frequent, but I don't recall seeing it in vanilla of late, but I have in PE / RE.

Sorry, I was going to ramble on a bit longer (you know me) but I just realised the time - explains why I'm so sleepy and likely not making sense.

Those are all custom playfields and "terrains" in your scenario ?

Yes, but it doesn't affect those specific issues. Custom terrain can create terrain generation errors such as extremely steep cliffs or sheer holes that go down to bedrock if there is a lot of overlapping terrain stamps, but the rendering issues he mentioned aren't that.

Those seem to be "deco" entities issues, which are placed on terrains, so maybe something they changed about deco that works well with newly generated terrains in a random default, but would mess up already generated terrains ?

Terrain is generated when you first visit a playfield, so yes, if you resume an existing save game after a game update sometimes terrain can get messed up and you'll see holes or pillars, floating grass, etc. It's a default game issue. Sometimes clearing the cache can fix it.

Late to the "party" of Terrain Issues...
Happened to me to a fresh Start on the Vanilla Game Snow Starter ->

Must just be random luck that meant I didn't get the holey terrain and clipping grass issue on successive Vanilla snow planet starts.

I do have another issue though (sorry) in that I'm not getting base attacks in my fresh PE Oscotune start. They initially count down as you'd expect to "soon" then "now", in then reverted to "soon" again - my Zirax rep was "hostile" the whole time, and my base was unchanged - until eventually hitting "now" once again and that's where it's been for a couple of game days now. I've been on my base a LOT during this time, but it's just not triggering.

I mentioned it in one of the main update threads and it's not a known issue in vanilla, so thought I'd ask here in case anyone has a similar issue. It's been a while since I had any base attack issues in vanilla, PE and RE.

Edit: Ok, it looks like it might have been a vanilla issue. I just updated my game to the latest version - I was already on the experimental branch - and within a minute or two of loading my PE save, the attack triggers. Vanilla issue confirmed?
