Fixed Drones all disappeared from planet [7840]

    I entered the planet (Divotia) atmo and while exploring saw drones nearby but didn't engage them. Saved game and came back later, to find there are no drones anywhere on the planet. None show up with ents -all, nor with map reveal, including if I teleport all around the planet. Drone base was not touched or even discovered yet.

    Looking in the save folder, the drones.dat file is only 2kb. I tried replacing the drones.dat file from an earlier save where it was 29kb. Still no drones, and upon exit, the drones.dat file that it writes is only 2kb again. I didn't find anything in the log that looked like it could be related to that. If I spawn in a drone with the debugmenu, that drone stays.

    I also went back to before the planet was entered. In that save, when I enter the planet, there are drones. But after I save and re-load the game, there are only 2 drones on the planet and they are sitting motionless on the ground. Something is maybe being lost/corrupted in the save process?

    I also tried playfield command in the console, both before and after replacing the drones.dat file. No luck.

    Can I get my drones back? The planet is boring without them.

    I agree here;
    although I ain´t using commands, or modified playfields;
    I´ve just noticed, that all drones on a planet disappear into nowhere.

    Also, I can add, that in space, no drones are created.

    Usually enemy shipyards and factories have drone support,
    but right now, there is no drone defence at all.

    I don't recall seeing drones disappear like it is being described & with some of my own check I haven't seen anything trigger.
    Is there reliable known steps to reproduce this issue ?

    For me it was like:

    I´ve decided to start a new game with patch 1.4
    So I rushed through the starter mission.
    When there was the part, with the stun-drones, they didn´t attack me, but just flew vertically into space.
    There, they simply disappeard.
    This happend earlier thise week, so I didn´t pay enough attention...
    ...I just thought "nahh screw it! Who cares?!?"

    But I then watched out for other ones.
    First I saw some, usually next to Promethium notes.
    But eventually later, they have just been gone...

    So I decided to investigate...

    I´ve found another drone, next to another ore note.
    I´ve keep my distance and watched it.
    That thing just slowly left the planet into space, where it disappeared, too.

    So I flew into space myself, to look out for other drones, but nothing...

    So this is how to reproduce:

    1.) Start a new game
    2.) immediately spawn yourself a CV
    3.) fly into space
    4.) eventually warpjump into another region, to be out of mission area
    5.) find enemy station, that should have drones
    6.) approach it
    7.) look out for drones (for me there have been none so far!)

    (I attacked a zirax resupply station, a shipyard and an orbital factory. None of them spawned drones)

    I checked and double checked this.
    And did some save and reload checking.
    No drones, except for the first few I saw on the starter planet (which disappeared)

    Can you please attach a copy of this save you mention before the planet was entered ?

    Sure, here are the two. 13 is before the planet (Divotia) is loaded. Save 14 is after I went to the planet and saw drones. (They are visible flying around in the let's play video for that episode. )

    For ep13 save, when I enter the planet there are drones. After I save and re-load the game they are gone, except a couple which are motionless.

    Notice that the save for 14 has a drones.dat that is 29kb. If I load that game and then exit and save, the drones.dat file is only 2kb.

    Thanks for the saves can you also supply a copy of the scenario folder ? "SV_ Start" (this is needed to be able to load into the saves)

    There is a fix coming for this issue tomorrow but just fyi the bomber drones that appear around despoits appear to have a problem which will need to be looked soon.
