Hi, Basically what the topic title says. On a random suicidal whim, I took my helmet off in space and...nothing happened. The game was showing me as in space of course, negative temperatures - EVA Boost required - and that I'm not surrounded by O2. Despite this, I was fine. I did need my helmet on to go underwater on the starting planet, just not in space. I can't think of any other details to add to this post, that about does it. Scoob.
I didn't find anything that triggers this What oxygen difficulty setting are you using for "Oxygen Consumption" ?
I think this might fall under the "Random stuff that goes wrong during a long play session" heading. I was wandering around in space as well as around the outside of the plot Distillery station with my helmet off with zero issues. I just went to recreate this to snag a save - the save I intended to attach to this post last night, sorry - but it's now working as expected. There is quite a long delay between taking my helmet off in space to actually suffocating - I'd have expected a rather immediate effect doing that - but it does seem to be working now. Scoob.
I've had this happen quite a lot to me, in multiple game versions. I do eventually start suffocating in space, but it is not always instant and sometimes takes a minute or so to start. Whereas when I go underwater without a helmet it is nearly always pretty instant. In space there sometimes seems to be a delay for whatever reason. It does seem to be one of those bugs that exiting to the main menu and reloading "fixes" temporarily.
I was without a helmet, in space for several minutes when it happened last night. Could not recreate it this evening, though only logged on to test it again. Next long session I do, which may be the weekend now, I'll try again. I do suspect it's one of those long session bugs though. Like when Doors randomly stop being automatic and sensors stop working. Save, exit game, Reload and all is well again. Scoob.
