I wish that the CPU tiers were revisited soon for vanilla ^^ I'd like to have some more tiers to build around, 6 instead of 4 perhaps? Atm the progresión from t1 to t3 feels ok to me but it breaks at t4.
I suggest making it necessary for CV to connect the blocks hanging separately from the ship with the hull. Those. Blocks hanging separately from the ship (if it is not an NPC ship) should fall off from it as it happens with BA blocks. Alternatively, the power supply of the equipment located on the units hanging separately from the ship must require a connection with the ship to supply power to this equipment. I think that it is logical to do this either with the falling off blocks, if they have lost the physical connection with the ship, or the option with the supply of energy through the blocks. Blocks flying separately from the ship (if this is not an NPC ship) at least looks strange and introduces a number of imbalances and problems.
MAIN-TAG: I would love a debug (N-)menu option to color the standard building blocks based on their material (i.e. carbon/steel/hardened steel/etc.). Basically a way to see which material an already textured block has, without having to resort to the tooltip of the multitool. Currently it is extremely tedious to optimise ship armor... On a related note: It would also be great if there was a way to upgrade/downgrade blocks with symmetry.
Yes especially because losing your Tier in combat (SP vanilla play) can have tremendous consequences, even getting you stucked in space with your CV because of suddenly low Tier situations that make your damaged CV useless without considerably downgrading it which is often impossible or very problematic, thus: you are stucked in space when losing your T4.
I was trying to work out if there was a way to do the Reforged-type extender system for vanilla. So for CVs, it would be something like: Core: 200k CPU T2 extender: +300k CPU T3 extender: +650k CPU per block (max 2) T4 extender: +2.5M CPU per block (max 4) This would preserve existing ships at the 200k / 500k / 1.5M / 10.2M level (T4 would get that small boost), but you could do any intermediate step. So 1 T3 plus the T2 would be 1.15M, just two T4s would be 5.2M, etc. Losing one extender on an existing T4 ship would drop you to 7.7M which is still rough but much more manageable. The only issue would be gating the higher extenders in such a way that you don't just skip over the T3s and go straight to a single T4 block. Not sure how that would play out. The exponential CPU curve is a bit tricky to manage.
A "Builder mode" (like 3d editor) to import 3D model of ship designs. Able to use such editor to build ships. User can zoom out and build at same time.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1368230104 there are people using external programs to get 3D models into empyrion, some how. integration into the game would be cool ofc, but till than.. maybe one of the builders doing this can help you? and I think it has been discussed on this forum too.
Here you go. Read the thread and see what has been tested, and read the last post. I tried it a while ago and had no success, but I did not try it with the solution posted in the last message, so you may have more luck : https://empyriononline.com/threads/empyrion-model-import-tool.10280/page-5 Until we get an integrated feature... ^^
Easy -- In Empyrion Survival have a Functional Block maybe called 'Workshop' or 'on the Blocks' or 'Inspection Pit' or 'Garage' That can be only fitted to a Base This Block would Allow the Creative Mode Build Options within a set Field. Why -- so you can sort of put your SV/CV on the blocks and Modify it without wondering what the hell you just deleted to get to the gubbins and how to replace it. Alternativly or Also an X-RAY option to analyse what is where in your ships. say makes everything tranparent excepts for one plane through the ship. Lore reason for this -- its Standard Workshop equiptment like an inspection pit for cars.
If I run a server and am an Admin I should be able to spawn a POI with traders in it to use as a public hub. Edit .yamls? Start a new game? Lame
At the moment a method to limit blocks to class and not to a blockgroup , and that the empyrion unity tool get continued and whe can add new turrets , weapons and audio sources to animated blocks
I like this idea. I've always thought it stupid that you have to have 2 T3 and 4 T4 extenders. Why not have a single T3 and T4 extender that costs what 2 or 4 cost to build. Or, alternatively, as Garaman suggests, allow single placement but each individual adding a prorated amount of CPU - sort of along the lines of what Reforged Eden does.
This, very hard. I'm hating this right now: As long as it doesn't collide, it should be placeable. Now I need to figure out a way to rework this dark dark hallway...
It was touched on a bit before but I'd like to reiterate since I've stopped building till at least the most basic of this is implemented. Ability to place many blocks at once in particular arrangements matching shapes. Circles in particular, ellipses even better while holding shift to keep in a circle. Ideally with the ability to select if hollow or filled. Similar to what can be done with rectangles but it doesn't do any good if like current rectangles can only go out a small number of blocks, I need to be able to go the full 200 block limit. Just with the big normal cube blocks arranged in a pattern to match the shape. Even better to go full 3d placement of blocks in shapes, particularly spheres and ideally ellipsoids. Again large scale, again ability to select if hollow or filled. Ultimate, would taking something that seems like a Sisyphean task which is tedious and boring and requires hundreds of man hours which has stopped me from playing and make it into a something quick and effortless. Full 3d placement of not just the big normal cube blocks but include the ramp blocks and even the interesting angular blocks to most fully match the shape with the fullness of the blocks offered in Emperion. As before in ellipsoids, ideally with a slider to precisely specify it's dimensions and hollow or solid. I have a full inverted-gravity dance room (you can seamlessly walk upright on every surface, roughly cubular but really an octagonal prism, 2 planes of symmetry not 3 which is because the gravity generators work differently in the z dimension, don't need to fix that though I've already compensated for it in too many places) which was achievable thanks to the copy paste tool but need to wrap that in an ellipsoid. The cylindrical docking bay which comfortably parks a titan was also build-able with the copy paste (eighths, easier than using the symmetry tool) but to get that dome I want I'm going to need at least a circular block placement tool.
I vote for this, this would fix the issue with trying to place large ramps, and other large items, eg the very long blast doors, etc.
I wish bases, like BP parts can be attached to each other seamlessly. For example, metro stations (BA) have long railroads connecting to each other.
