Changes: The way how gravity affects the player has been changed to make it feel snappier The player now jumps slightly higher when the jetpack is activated Now only possible to sprint in forward directions Suit lights & night vision are now only available when the Helmet is on.
Also while dropping from orbit to the planet, now if jet-pack is active, it slows the free fall considerably than if it is deactivated.
Now only possible to sprint in forward directions Is there a setting to Sprint in all Directions again? Like a settings config. Feels too stiff now. Thanks!
I agree, it doesn't feel as natural. I understand the reasoning, you can't run full speed backwards right, but you can move faster than normal walking, so maybe use a multiplier on the movement when sprinting? Forward(2); Left/Right(1.6); Backwards (1.4). ??
Defiantly not liking the sprint movement nerf ... this is a game not a simulator.. other changes seem ok so far
I'm indifferent on this. When they made the change I started paying attention to other shooters, and very few that are anywhere near realistic allow you to sprint in any direction but forwards. I barely even noticed the change in my gameplay.
After however long, someone finally clued me into what I don't like so much about this. The new jumping and gravity is fine, and I think it's an improvement. Sprinting backward and sideways is a bit silly and I don't care. But what's been screwing with me this whole time is that momentum no longer carries into jumping. It used to be you could sprint, then jump with jetpack, and the character would glide through the air with whatever speed they had when they jumped. On low gravity planets, you could even sustain this over great distances. Now a jump forward only seems to keep going forward if you press W. Going from a full sprint to a jet-pack boosted jump means you just go straight up unless you press W, which nets you the same jump arc as you'd get from jumping while standing still. Please put at least that one function back.
