DEV BLOG Announcement: Version 1.5 + brief prospect of 2021

    Hello Galactic Survivalists!

    Long time no write, but silence is coming to an end. For those of you that wondered what is going on with the game, we have some answers!

    First and foremost: development goes on. We have taken some time to make some internal changes in order to be prepared for the big plans we have for the game.

    That being said, we want to share a few general milestones of the roadmap 2021

    Version 1.4.6
    End of April 2021 we plan to release another bugfix patch, also addressing some hacking issues.

    Version 1.5
    The mid-version update will follow at the end of May 2021 and contains a big chunk of internal code work for preparing future updates. As our plan goes, the following topics are currently planned, in preparation or in the works besides that.

    The update will include minor game functions reworks, but also adds a new concept for AI management. We are testing new code that shall make the wildlife more vivid and believable. Raptors and Parasaurs will be the testing candidates.

    In terms of visual elements, the HUD is planned to get an update. Improved visuals and better readability are the goals for this topic.

    Missions will get an update as well. We fully reworked the game start and re-integrated a low-level tutorial (Robinson Protocol) that you can play or skip. The early story missions have been fully reworked as well and now shall provide a more consistent story flow. Most of the early story missions have been spread in the starter solar system (before all missions happened in the orbit of the starter planet).

    Additional topics are a rework of the loading screens and new models to introduce a consistent art style. The test candidates are weapons and tools for now.

    Of course bug fixing will accompany the development milestone as usual.

    Dates to note: The experimental phase might start in early may. In order to get the maximum insights on server performance, we currently discuss having the experimental server files being released one week later. We will of course have official experimental servers for that time.

    Version 1.6
    This version is slated for August 2021. The focus, as it stands now, will be primarily around bug fixing with content-creation and related being an additional topic.

    Version 1.7
    The final major version of the year will hit in December 2021. We plan to redo a lot of the material and tech progression (including new stuff). Additional topics, besides content creation, will be planets and planet building.

    This is of course only a very rough roadmap. Features that accompany the development milestones will be considered and added as we develop the versions. If an announced feature is not ready for being released, although announced for a particular version, please bear with us that we might not add it but move it to the following update.

    I am so amazed playing this games as it develops. Every year, something new. I like where it goes. I enjoy every minute playing. You (Eleon) direct the game towards places I have not yet imagine. Pleased you communicate the future of development with us. Now I have a little more clear view. Ideas, remarks, opinions will offered as further development and discussions unfold in the future.

    Hello!

    Glad to see all these plans for next updates!

    How about new planet types (like this one), ability to fly around stars and gas giants e.t.c.? I still dreaming about it from the past year :) Any chance for that in 2021?

    also ich wäre für Räder, Rotoren und Windkraft bzw. Wasserkraftwerk als alternative Energie auf Planeten wo es Wasser gibt oder flüssige Lava.
    eventuell auch Neue Pflanzen zum anbauen zb Bäume

    Among the plans is there any chance we will see stem cloud save sync? Would help those who play on multiple machines and those with corrupted local saves.

    With unity adding Nvidia DLSS 2.0 will you be adding it to the game? Would be great for performance. I've seen it double the amount of FPS in other games.

    Too bad you still cant buy an (high end) Nvidia card to save your life. (You know, the ones they released EIGHT MONTHS AGO!), unless of course, you have money to burn and don't mind spending thousands on one from Ebay. :eek: Thank you cryptojerks. :mad:

    If I understand correctly, at the end of the year will we have scientific advances based on research instead of the current points system? That's right?

    I have an outdated PC that only has 8GB of RAM, VGA Radeon 270XT with 2GB of RAM and AMD Phenom 6300. Absolutely no visual problems with NMS and with Empyrion I can't play without occasional crashing of the game and BSOD. I know that now you will say that I buy a new one, but my friend come to live in Croatia, be unemployed and then tell me about buying a new PC. Only water physics could cheer me up to play in addition to all the problems I have with my outdated hardware. I mention NMS because I constantly get free content from Hello Games that brings something new to the game every time. After all, every time instead of playing a real problem for me, it becomes better and better optimized.

    That's only for RTX class adapters, not sure the % of the player base this would benefit.

    I have an old laptop myself and it never crashes on Empyrion during play (nVidia card). You might benefit from double RAM though, it really makes a difference, but for me it was just a tweak to windows in the registry that solved most video-related issues.

    BUT...

    It doesn't make a lot of sense to ask for more performance drain with water physics (ouch!) if you already have problems running the game : it would become unplayable on your rig.

    If thats your Graphic Card -> https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/radeon-r9-270x.c2466

    Turn the in-Game Graphic setting to 1600:900 or even on step lower (16:9 Ratio) it wont change anything but the resolution of the screenshots and the strain on the Graphic Card. Also you you may consider to increase the size of the Pagefile

    That should help with the most storage problems for a while. Otherwise I would recommend what @Kassonnade suggested too. Increase RAM if possible.

    zu den rädern und so fiel mir noch ein das man auf Eisplaneten eventuell auch die gefrorenen Seen als Eisquelle einsetzen sollte zum Abbau um die Eisplaneten Strategisch Wichtig zu machen
