Thanks. I was hoping for a DAT file reader or at least the format so one could be created. Sometimes you can pump it through a file editor that looks at each bit's value and guess, but other times it's just gibberish. ^_^
It was a long and tedious process that usually went like this: I wonder if it's possible to [blank]. Then I look thru the save game folder and make an educated guess about what might work. Then delete some files... If it worked then I restore the files and try to narrow down exactly which files have to be deleted. If it didn't work then I restore the files and try different files. I think the first thing I tried to figure out was resetting resources on a planet. Back then it was the Contents of the Areas folder (do not delete the Areas folder itself) and the world.dat Btw, with the new resources it hasn't changed.
Nice, thank you for the info. All I know is how to reset a playfield as a whole and to transfer inventory and vessels/bases to new save games.
I was putting everything in a steam group's forums but I recently came across a website/app called Trello. I really like Trello so when I get around to it, I'll be copying everything from the group over to a public Trello and let other players have edit access to it.
