(for the record...we are on topic...we are discussing food...and not having apple pie/cheesecake/puddin right now IS a problem)
I have been living on peanut butter and bread for most of my life, and none of what you write is true. And I train each other day and move pianos on a sideline.
Because of mass/ volume you would have to eat the whole cow on the spot or leave it there to rot (food rots fast in Empyrion...).
I so wish we could make hard boiled eggs in game. I get so many from those dino's. The eggs would have a longer life once cooked. It's still protein and would think it would be higher health then cheese.
Empyrion - Galactic Starvation\Content\Configuration\Containers.ecf line 169 : ## Dino small (Raptor, Megalonops, Parasaur) { +Container Id: 10 Count: "1,2" Size: "8,1" SfxOpen: UseActions/body_open SfxClose: UseActions/body_close { Child Items Name_0: Meat, param2: "1,2" Name_1: Egg, param1: 0.6, param2: "1,2" } }
You know, speaking of immersion breaking moments, I never really batted an eye at getting one meat from a dino. Things like that just strike me as balance necessary numbers. Getting an egg from a BABY dino though - that was rather jarring
You can make scrambled ones in Reforged... but yes, I concur (Vermillion was able to use the old plant protein icon)
at the end of the day, we all agree; food needs rework. the problem is simple; - humanity ate meat for millennia. - vegan-developers in 2015 don´t understand or accept that - food balance bad what can we do about it ? send the developers to youtube and hope for their best.
Food balance is good for gameplay, not realism. The problem is meat yield relative to creature size and difficulty, along with creature loot distribution in general. (E.g. high meat and milk from telluropods vs low meat yield from triceratops for example)
but it is a survival game. and not just any game, its Empyrion ! it´s about futurism, space, vehicles!, aliens and we are here, actually wasting way too much time into food.... when eating in this game, is the least interesting thing you can do. food beeing at the center of the gameplay might be ok for a game that plays in the stone-age...
Gather veggies and proteins. Use the survival constructor in your backpack to make ration bars. Never take them out of the output slot, just right-click them there. Problem solved. They never go bad in there. Fill up with new veggies/proteins as needed or as you walk by more plants. I love the desert start for two reasons: grasslands where veggies/proteins/fibres are abundant, and desert golems that have basically everything, including zascosium. If you were patient enough, you'd never need to go elsewhere and could patiently gather the resources to build a warp capable CV right on your starter planet. What annoys me more is the normal O2 consumption speed. I always regulate that down to "low".
most planets - if you find water there's lots and lots of seaweed to live on planets likr the snow biome -- cold and finding food is part of the survival challange. -- What's the point of a survival game if survival is too easy - there's no challange - and once you get a farm going - the food survival aspect just goes away. Same with oxygen - once you get a few generators going - thta goes away.. .. my only grumble is that the 'high' radiation and heat setting seems too high thogh the solution is not to use that setting -- though there could be a mechanic i'm missing (probably)
yes you keep eating your greens, playing noob-planets and let females command you. have a great time !
i said meat needs better food value, for a variety of reasons, such as morale, balance, immersion, reasonability !!
If you are finding it difficult to get the right amount of food then maybe try playing on a noob planet, like I do.
meat has the highest nutritional value. everyone who tried both ways knows this. both ways ergo the green-road and the red-road. i been vegan, you think you help the environment and the animals, but you dont. now im carnivore. never felt healthier and stronger before. survival-games are about immersion. i want to hunt ingame. i want to eat meat ingame. but food has been balanced by blinded-vegan. give meat what it deserves; proper values, above all other foods. PS: remove debuff from raw meat. i eat raw meat and its the best thing ever. also; once meat rotts, it shouldnt become rotten-food like everything else. rotten meat is actually nutritious still, and only then, might evtl poison you if you havent kept it properly. whatever guess you like plants, guess you like to **** and fart a lot.
