    My dear beloved Dev's .....
    I LOVE how i have been coaxed into the ´multiplayer aspect of the game. Really, i do... SO much more fun, than playing alone.
    but ....... yeah, there is a but... im so sorry, but, there is, really :S

    The chat...
    Really... the chat, is SO dysfunctional, that it is more of an annoyance, than an actual tool for socializing :(
    I think, it is time, to implement a new thinking of how people talk :-/

    It is NOT fun, having a conversation going, only to be forced to "flip back" with comma, because someone, said something, in global chat :-/
    The text limitations, are.... well.... let's just not mention that, but deffo needs to be upped :(

    Why dun we have a fixed window at the buttom, with "pages" one can click on ? :S ...
    COULD be dun, with a shortcut key to activate the mouse, as we use the mouse when handeling inventory and stuff :S

    Seconded... plus it also gets old fast when I open Chat, take longer then 0 seconds to start Typing, then start typing & suddenly realize i'm fat-fingering Hotkeys & Opening Menus I never meant to open cause the damn Chat Auto-Closed itself even though 2 - 4 Characters had gotten typed into the Chat. :(

    I can't see anywhere specific for this so I'm leaving it here.

    I last played the actual game (rather than making pretty ships) back in Alpha 2. I have now played a bit of Alpha 4 and I have something important to say about the way HV's handle now.

    I LOVE IT <3

    Still agile but much, much more responsive. You can aim fixed weapons. I've climbed some big mountains. I've sped across the landscape like a racer. Honestly, I know SV's are faster and perhaps more useful for most things but... I have way more fun piloting HV's now. Maybe I lucked out with the design of the one I'm using but it's just a joy to pilot and for me HV handling is in a very sweet spot right now. Thanks!

    Thirding the chat system though :p

    Chiming in on the chat x90000. There really really really needs to be a fixed chat window with tabs for global, faction, whisper, and notifications. A well done chat and notification system can make or break multiplayer games.

    FANTASTIC WORK DEVELOPERS! You guys are great! The frequency of updates, useful ones, lately has been absolutely great! I would gladly donate $xx in addition to what I've payed for the game if I knew how! You have effectively fixed every major bug I've reported as well as many others, thank you, thank you, and thank you.

    I only recently started playing this game again but man it has improved since a cuple of months ago!
    Love building ships and i hope that we will someday get a decent shield system and more futuristic weapons (AND an AI that we can fight).
    Can't wait for a generated universe to explore someday!

    Shields & hopefully better AI & maybe AI SVs & CVs are Incoming down the road. In the mean time, some notable Improvements for ya to check out are HVs with REAL Hovering, Fusion Cells, new Block Shapes, SV Wing Blocks, & new Deco Items. :)

    In my experience . . . "chat" in most multiplayer games is bottom tier. Most serious multiplayer groups use a third party app like . . . ah crap, now I cannot even think of the name of one of them . . . Teamspeak is common. There are several though. For smaller groups, these can be more or less "free" and if you want to become a "member/child group" to an existing group, there are lots of larger paid servers that are happy to get more members.

    So basically: the norm seems to be games don't put too much effort into their in-game communications and the expectation is that this is generally handled by a third party app.

    Teamspeak 3 & Skype are the ones I know of. Theoretically can also use Steam's Voice Chat since Empyrion is a Steam Game.

    Steam voice is reasonable for two-party conversations, I've never managed to get it to work properly for multiple people though.

    If I remember right, ya start one between 2 peeps, then can go through your Friends List & Invite them to it too. Exact steps for this i'm fuzzy on as it's been a long time since i've done it last.

    tried that, tried it so many different ways. either I get connected and my mic's disabled, or it's enabled and no-one hears me, or I never connect at all.

    when it's Me and Ooj, no problems. Add ANYONE else into the conversation and it craps out.

    We use discord when there's more than just us.

    Considering this is a feedback thread, I guess I can come in here, and stink it up a bit.

    Let me say this up front: I do love the game. I am enjoying it, but, what needs to be said now, has to be put out there.

    I'm getting bored.

    I reset my server fairly often, so it's not as if I can't remake it, but here's the thing.. there isn't enough to do. Not enough exploration, not enough planets, moons and solar systems. There isn't enough story line.

    As it stands, right now, the game is a blast. I do have a lot of fun building things, resource harvesting, and making stuff.. but after clearing the planets of enemies, which honestly, doesn't take long, then you sit around a pretty much empty solar system and have nothing to do, except, well, build.. hence a reset of the server, which I usually reserve for major updates. Regardless..

    We did a survey not to long ago, and it was pretty overwhelming that some new things were being requested, planets, solar systems, returning enemies, more enemies, more friendlies, etc. etc.

    I love the extra blocks, bigger engines, etc... but while doing that, starting giving us more A.I. enemies and even neutral and possibly allies to deal with. Give us more solar systems, lots more. More planets, more moons. *Yes, technically I can alter that myself, but if I have to do the work, rather than the game, is that why I bought this game in the first place?*

    I'm not trying to downgrade my feelings here, quite the opposite. I'm trying to justify another 1k hours here. It takes me 1 hour to get through most of the new stuff that patch X.0 brings us. I need to maintain a reason for putting forth time to Alpha Test this game and look for things to add, and yes, maybe I'm being a little pushy about wanting some of it now, but adding more building blocks, engines and such doesn't give us more content, only more things to give us for time dumps. Give us a reason to work in this game, give us things to look for, do, kill, assist, etc. Turn up the content, while turning up the toys too. Give us a little bit of both, or a lot of one with a touch of the other, but balance it out. Things are drying up out there, and it's hard to stay playing another thousand hours of the same old thing over and over and over again.

    Hope this makes sense, and I hope that you folks take it to heart. I truly want to continue to be involved, but new block shapes just isn't as engaging as it once was.. now, it's all we seem to be getting. We need more content to focus on and help adjust, space based enemies, planetary enemies, Environmental issues between a couple of warring species as well. Join a war, avoid one. All kinds of stuff. It's stagnating at this juncture.

    Sorry Tyrax, 200Mbit Fiber to the cabinet, copper from cabinet to house, the signal's stable and I regularly get 15MByte/s down and at least 2MBytes/s up. I rarely get any interruption, although it's not anywhere near 5 9's uptime ;)

    I get the feeling there's something weird in the steam client, I've had issues with it before, and still get ringing on multiple clients at the same time. I sometimes leave my work PC's steam client logged in, as well as my home PC's steam client, and I've been told that when someone starts a voice chat with me, both clients ring, and the other client never hangs up when I answer, leaving it ringing all night sometimes.

    definitely something wiggy, but probably not a topic for further discussion in this thread. feel free to PM me if you want to suggest anything else ;)

    p.s. I'm a software developer in telecoms ;)

    Here's a simple idea you could use to improve game play quite a bit.

    Persistent PVP games always give a huge bonus to the attacker. Offline raids are one example of this. Gathering all your forces for an attack on a defender that only has 1-2 ppl on at the time is a much better example. So give defenders a bonus. This will greatly improve game play.

    How? Give factions armor bonuses after they have had a specific, pre-determined base (downloadable from the workshop) running in a playfield for, say 24 hours. I'm thinking 100% would be a good number, but let admins decide on the specifics.

    Also make it so that depending on the time of day this bonus is either increased further or decreased. The idea would be that during prime time hours the bonus is smaller and overnight and during low activity hours the bonus is larger.

    Lastly, let a faction extend these bonuses to other factions. This way an allied faction could help defend a planet or perhaps another faction just pays rent to the larger dominant one.

    I love PVP on Empyrion, but it feels a lot more like Rust than it should. Build a base, die. Build another base. Die. Die again. See a random person, get shot at. Make EGS an actual game about Empire and let factions "own" playfields. Give the defender a bonus. Otherwise the advantage will always go to the attacker and there will be nothing but chaos, like every other persistent PVP game. :)

    You might think that PVE/PVP servers are good enough, but they're not! They are so boring. People just hide in the PVE zones and the only encounters that ever occur are between players mining in PVP zones. Use my idea and you will soon have giant factions battling it out across entire servers with no playfield ever being completely safe, but still allowing players to build bases that last more than 24 hours.

    I remember reading Feedback before about how Bases should be able to have the largest amount of Brawn & Firepower of all the 4 Creation Types in addition to their strong Fuel Efficiency in exchange for them never being able to move or maneuver. I personally agree with this assessment.

    For example, it should take at least a few good CVs to stand against a large powerful Deep Space 9-like Space Base even if that Base is Unmanned... which it most likely will be a lot cause peeps tend to not have the Spine to attack a Base that has actual Defenders in it. :p (Sometimes I wonder if i'm the only peep that would... but then again I never was any good at having any sense or exercising proper ability at Self Preservation. :D)

    I had quite a discussion at another place about this topic. Sandbox doesn't mean that there shouldn't be a goal. Give us a "living" universe to explore and to survive in. And a goal. Like "find earth". I'll just brainstorm a bit: create an ever growing enemy fleet that chases us to prevent us from reaching our goal. The higher you set the difficulty, the faster the fleet grows and the faster it finds you once you've jumped to another system to escape and gather resources. Let us cloak our fleet and bases, so they can't be found. But we still need to explore the unknown and that's where the danger lurks, because a jump is like a cigarette in the pitch black night: visible for miles.

    This would be the PVE mode me and my friends would kill for.

    Once you completed all goals, you could still play freely, like what many people think a sandbox is meant to be: a place where everyone makes up their own stories. But we've already got lots of game like this. And - don't get me wrong - most of them are just "the dark side", the easy way to create a game without "real" mechanics. Just keep it strictly PvP and say "make your own game and challenges, it's a sandbox after all" might lead to a "nice" game, but nothing special, which one should strive for in my eys. That would jsut be fun for a) people who never played a game like this before or b) people with lots of time, which means everyone under 25. Gamers are getting old. We don't have time to protect our bases 24/7 and we like to be creative and not just build purpose based. We don't like flying cube shaped constructor-bricks with 666 pulse lasers mounted just to survive an average PvP encounter.

    Please don't forget about us. :)
