    Reproducibility: Always
    Severity: Medium

    Type: Wrong shadows, Performance hit

Summary: Shadows cast by the suit light, flashlight or spotlights are just wrong.

Description: Shadows cast by the suit light, flashlight or spotlights are just wrong. They look like they are cast as new 3d-objects in space instead of soft shadows on surfaces. This also causes a severe performance impact on graphic cards.
This is broken on all settings of "Shadow Quality", except "Off", while Dynamic Shadows is enabled.

    Steps to Reproduce:
    1) have a flat surface
    2) place a window somewhere on it
    3) turn on your suit light, flashlight or spotlight of a ship and move around.

This will be looked in to soon for the blocks you show.

These particular shadows are only cast/visible with the "Dynamic shadows" which needs Shadows set to High or Ultra to turn on. You can turn dynamic shadows off.

I think these shadows are "correct" but are missing some cues to make them seem realistic. If you go to third-person view and unlock your camera you see the shadows projected correctly into the scene. But since the shadow remains sharp and consistently lit though its entire volume it appears "unnaturally" to the user from the first-person perspective. I feel it needs some kind of stronger depth cue to feel right, or the position of the headlight needs to be shifted so the shadows are perceived more naturally.
