Reforged Eden Scenario

    Just to give another update:
    Assuming Empyrion 1.3 goes live on the 15th, I have that day off work so I should be able to get the scenario updated either right after the game updates, or later on that day after I wake up. Depends what time they do the update and if they sneak in any extra changes. And of course whatever Vermillion has added for Reforged Galaxy will also be included.
    The scenario won't be updated with the new default game PDA missions or some of the new game's POIs. I just haven't had the best work schedule lately compared to what I had at the start of the year so I've had a lot less free time available.
    I'm going to take some vacation days the first few months of next year to work on a bigger update to the scenario. :D

    I have 2 problems with my Reforged Eden savegame, probably I messed it up moving from singleplayer to a server and back (and now I want to go server again, but it freezes with a error...)
    - older Problem: when i go to the Registry I get a CoQ with following error:

    well I guess I messed that up myself, but maybe it can be fixed so I dont need to start fresh?
    Also I think I got a wrong seed in the server config as I did not find the correct one; is this a problem? (and where can I find the seed in the save)

    Well considering I was playing Reforged Eden on a single player game for the past week until suddenly this update dropped. I noticed all the factions have disappeared from the info screen and are now undiscoverable (and can't be discovered even after finding POIs because the PDA is now glitched out due to the major overhaul Eleon did). Also I warped out of Omicron to one of the moons of the gas giants within the same Beta System only to find out the playfield wasn't even there. Instead I got a server error message and the playfield was all LSD looking color splotches everywhere! It looked like I had gone into a warp storm from 40k! I couldn't stop the ship and turn around back to Omicron, all controls were unresponsive. I looked at my PDA and then looked back at my ship only to see a blurry version of it now pasted over my ship and oversaturated with all the vomit inducing tie die colors now swirling around everywhere. And it was in that moment I knew something went horribly wrong after this update, that clearly my game had become corrupted and entirely unplayable. The game itself was now unresponsive, so I had to ctrl + alt + delete in order to exit out of Empyrion. I then loaded the game back up again and had no other choice but delete the save. So I deleted it and now eagerly await for Reforged Eden to now be compatible with this 1.3 update.

    In other words to answer your question, yes you do and you have to wait until Vermillion/Ravien update this scenario so it doesn't spectacularly fail with the new version of the game like it did for me.

    You probably don't need a restart, however you might.
    Best to wait until I get Reforged Eden updated. I can start doing it soon.

    Back up your save game and then try to play it after the update and see if everything works okay.
    I have not had any reports about Project Eden since I got that updated right away so that's a good sign that Reforged Eden should work too.

    I encountered exactly the same problems as you :)
    Now I'm waiting for RE 1.3 to start a fresh game on the rogue planet. Both Eden and Galaxy are already updated, I believe they're both working hard on RE. What they do is really incredible, I just can't play anymore without those 2 mods together.

    Guys I remind you again that if you want to restart you can copy your stuff from old saves to new games with @byo13 's copy tool. I have used it to jump from vanilla to Project Eden scenario and many other scenarios as well.

    [TOOL] Savegame Transfer Tool - Copy bases/ships from one game to another

    So feel free to start new save games every time content updates take place. Just position yourself in game somewhere with enough space to spawn your large vessels, i.e. in orbit, and...well, as I often say...."play long and prosper".

    I am a very confused with the custom ecf files.

    1. I have edited the default config_Example.ecf and save it as config.ecf in the content/configuration folder.
    2. I have started scenario 1 and play. The scenario 1 has its own config.ecf on the worksrop (scenario number from workshop)/content/configuration folder.
    3. Under the saves /scenario 1/content configuration file there is no .ecf except galaxyconfig.ecf
    4.I start another game with scenario 2. Again the scenario has its own onfig.ecf on the worksrop (scenario number from workshop)/content/configuration folder.
    5. Under the saves /scenario 2/content configuration file there is no .ecf except galaxyconfig.ecf

    Questions.

    A. Which config.ecf is being used when I load any save game either from scenario 1 or scenario 2? My guess is the config.ecf
    B. I want to make changes on the config.ecf so it can be different for scenario 1 and scenario 2 i.e. Pistol in scenario 1 has range of 20m and, in scenario 2 has 25m respectively. How may I do that to be carried on in the future games I load the save between the scenarios? I do not wish to recieve further updates that cripple my pistol range every time either of scenarios is updated in the future. I want my pistol to fire at the range I desire until the end of time. :D
    C. What is the point of content folder in the save games. It is always empty and even if I drop a config.ecf file in there the loaded scenario does not take it into account really. So every time I am forced to do changes on the config.ecf in the content/configuration folder (default).


    Are really content folders default, scenario and saves work as intended? Do ecf files work as intended?

    Updated Reforged Eden with latest configs from Vermillion and a new intro message that plays on starter planets that do not have a storyline mission on them.

    Hi,

    Firstly, thanks to both @ravien_ff and @Vermillion for there continued amazing work on this scenario. I will paraphrase what someone else said here, that this is the base game now for me, and I suspect many others. Not casting shade on Eleon in any way, of course none of us would be here (there wouldn't even be a "here") without them :)

    Secondly. I started a Reforged Eden game in v1.2. Now that both PE and RE are updated for v1.3, is it a requirement that we update our games to v1.3 to continue play? For the first time in ages, I've not been playing on the Experimental Branch so I could continue my RE game.

    Note: Steam updated PE and RE from the Workshop automatically of course, but I've not signed back up for the Experimental Branch yet. Don't want to run into problems - and perhaps falsely raise them as potential issues - by being on the "wrong" game version.

    I think Eleon are happy with things like Reforged galaxy and Project Eden. You see I think Empyrion is the dough and the scenarios vessels bases etc are the bread and butter of gameplay. There are already scenarios out there and we should see more to come.

    I haven't played since the update, but what's the deal right now, can I start a new game without expecting major issues, or should I wait till some other, new updates gonna come out?
    I saw DZ's video yesterday and he couldn't unlock Talon faction – which is a vanilla game, but I play RE only. And what's up with the updates on an existing savegame? Eg. I have a savegame, Eleon give us some bugfixing, will it fix my possible bugs in my game?

    Wait two weeks until all minor bugs with configuration files, etc. come out. Then start a new game.

    A reminder: please only report bugs to the Empyrion devs after you've reproduced it in a default game.
    This not only helps the developers fix bugs with the game, but also verifies any scenario bugs that I can fix on my end. Without the important step of reproducing in a default game I don't know if a bug is game or scenario related and the devs have to spend time sorting through bugs that might not be their fault. :D

    Just started a single player in re-forged for the first time today.

    Absolutely loving it. It's going to take a while to get used to the new stuff.

    Hello! So I am fairly new to running an Empyrion server. I have loaded the scenario into my server. Everything is aces till I join. I see the playfields from the join menu are correct and it lets me pick from the available reforged eden starters. Then it just sits on the loading screen. when I try to reconnect it is like I hadn't chosen the starter. This is happening for all players trying to connect. Any advice, or anything is appreciated. thank you in advance!
