Christ ppl, why is anyone using the bike after the first 15 minutes of the game? Pick up a few plants, get lvl 3, get 30 sil/cop 20 iron and make yourself an HV bike before you even make a base. Too many ppl worry about needing a base/large constructor right off the bat.

Change the motorcyle to a hoverboard that won't get stopped cold by a rock but fits in a backpack. The motorcycle is barely useful.

Better to drive bad than to walk.

The bike has often saved my ass in multiplayer when I had a disconnect from the server and my vessel was kilometers away. It is practical if you always have it with you in your backpack. You should consider it is a bike and like in real life you cannot run over stones etc.
If you want it to be comfortable you have a vessel ready in the factory, so I don't see why the bike should go away.

To everyone complaining about the bike....

Don't like it don't use it, end of discussion!

Let the ones that apreciate it use it, why should we be restricting options even further?

Bike handles weird, but OK in straight lines, and... costs no fuel. If it could be bugged enough to ride over water, it would be even better!

Some players even use it to get "inside" POI blocks to see the whole thing in transparency, but I don't know if that was fixed... hem... @Kaeser ?

lol, some people won't forget anything...

Yeah it has been fixed and yeah there's a few bugs with the bike still but there's bugs with CVs and SVs and HVs as well and that is no reason to scrap them, specially considering if we scarp the bike we won't get any alternative on the same level anytime soon, or ever....

And yeah, it has a few exploits as well but the same happens with the armors we have, they are armors thus heavy and have lights and jet packs and can carry more loot than some HVs containers and work with the remote logistics and consume no power

Yet I see no one complaining to remove the Armors and Boosters....

At the end of the day it's very simple, don't like it, don't use it and specially, don't go around forcing your play habits onto everyone else, otherwise someone will come next saying they don't like HVs cause they are too clumsy and next someone may say SVs are too overpowered what next then?...

How could I ever forget that... it was golden ! :D

I guess we can ask for some improvements... at least. It is quite unanimous that the bike (and drone) handles weirdly, but if the 3rd-person cam could be zoomed in and out it would help a lot. Worst case is in the forest, where trees get in the view and we can't see what is coming ahead. I use the bike extensively, I usually skip the HV altogether until I can make a SV, so I stick with the bike for long times and I'm used to its quirks, but still...

It is a simple, fast means of transportation, needs no fuel, folds in a pocket, doesn't seem to suffer from mass/volume...

Love the bike. It can be carried in your inventory and can be dropped wherever you need it. Also makes it to where you don't need to rely on a ship or HV for nearly as much, and makes the game playable without having them or building them from the get go

We use the bike as a emergency vehicle, but it would be nice for an update on it's handling and steering.

As some others have mentioned, turn the "motorbike" into a hover board. Much more in line with the game and technology, amount of materials needed. Also then so small it in a way can be but on (in) your backpack, as a skateboard. You already have the "bug" where you ride the bike in a walking position. Should just be to change the bike graphics and have a tiny hover distance (visually?). Add some better movement uphill. Not sure if to be able to use over water or not. Assume solar powered or similar, so no need for a gaz engine sound.

Actually I have recently purchased an "El scooter" (kick board type with a steering rod), rarely hear any engine sound, max speed on flat ground around 20 km/h. Get versions that are faster, but have to be registered to be legal (and follow bike rules) in my country (Norway).

    Dual sensations!
If you play on an easy level of difficulty, then it is not needed.
If you play on average and above it is necessary.
Planets of medium size and above ... then necessary.
Alpha 12 began without a finished motorcycle and we decided not to build it in principle. When they started playing on Hard vanilla settings on an ice planet. HAD TO BUILD!
Started on the middle planet ... it's generally the beauty of the distance between deposits on foot can not be overcome ...
NEEDED! We need him in the game!
Only management is better for him to do. Where have you seen so not agile motorcycle.

The vehicle is useful, its the handling/physics model which is such a let down.

It looks like a trials bike but handles worse than a penny farthing.

With a trials bike you can get up 45° slopes without stalling, you just have to use a low gear. IMHO this is how the game bike should treat difficult terrain, it should not grind to a halt or get dug in but just go slower.

The front wheel should ride up over obstacles like a real bike not get stuck and bogged in where the terrain changes inclination dramatically in a short length. Currently it gets stuck in the slightest divot and often flips over and drops the avatar beneath the terrain.

Also when it goes into water it should immediately slow down very rapidly and depending on how fast it is going, make a splash, not travel on as if the water was thin air!

My biggest issue with the motobike is handling. Other than that, it's a great tool. It's small and useful. But, the handling is so very awful that I rarely use the bike. Turning is beyond ludicrous. It's simpler to literally dismount, turn your avatar to wherever you want, redeploy the bike and ride on. The issues with terrain changes I can live with, since it's in contact with the ground and so the game engine likely can't provide smooth transitions. But, it flips way too often and that needs a fix. (Although, I haven't been launched into space recently, so maybe they fixed that?)

Same thing as in 2016! o_O

It is POSSIBLE that they WANT IT to suck badly so that players are "given the incentive" to build an HV (this is some kind of twisted mindset among this group of developers, it apparently always has been . . . I mean it is only a little bit neurotic and self-defeating so it isn't truly excoriateable but . . . yeah. They've always been designing to promote a particular "flow" from beginning through to galactic domination . . .).

It is also possible that it just always stayed on a back burner, even though they are aware it is a dog and of only marginal utility (and considerable user discomfort).

All we can do is keep mentioning it! I know I've posted at least one maybe multiple threads on how the motobike needed to be upgraded in years past. Just keep at it I guess! :p
