For more information see here Bug Report Template Build: 1.73.3649 Mode: Survival Single Player Reproducibility: Not always Type: Global Summary: Weapons fire when they should not, after powering-on a SV or after switching to detector. Description: Weapons fire when they should not; 2 situations: a) When docking my SV to my CV I usually power-off my SV if I don't have anything in my fridge; when I power-on again, I can sometimes hear my weapons firing for a short time, judging by the sound it must be the turrets. In one instance this happened although I didn't have any ammo left! And absolutely no enemies were in sight, next enemies are more than 2km away and my turrets are NOT set to fire on predators or preys (the entire group). This situation seems not to happen if I haven't used any weapons with the SV in the game session yet. b) When firing a manual weapon in my SV (gatling gun or rocket launcher) and then switching to the detector and then pressing LMB, sometimes the last used weapon will fire again instead of the detector scanning. Steps to Reproduce: Difficult because not always happening, Point a) is new to me starting with 1.73; point b) will happen more frequently and did already happen well before 1.73.
This has been an issue for quite a bit as last time I played, this happened to me quite a bit. One of the first times was when I was flying my SV out of a trading station in space. I switched from gatling guns to detector, to search for any nearby drones and nearly shot at the station.
I haven't figured out any repetition logic yet. The old issue with point b) could be because I'm not waiting long enough before hitting LMB, maybe the weapons must unload and this takes some seconds? But then, sometimes the issue doesn't show-up even when hitting LMB immediately.
It was due to timing, but I thought that once the selection had moved over to the scanner then the scanner would have worked. Found out it's best to wait for a second or two after the selection have moved to then activate it.
Additional info - This mainly happens on servers due to De-Sync, but also happens in SP games when the game is rendering in POIs. This bug happens quite a lot. Most times I have all turrets/manual fire weapons powered down around POIs I do not want to accidently shoot. Just a bug I have learned to live with and workaround. Honestly have not given this bug much thought til this report.
Is this the same issue where sometimes you get into your SV and hear the sound of all your weapon systems firing?
Yes, that's what I describe in point a). Yesterday it happened in my HV as well, I think weapons don't really fire, only the sound can be heared.
Yeah, it made a lot of noise but nothing actually fired or I'd have shot up my own base and another ship that was in the way
How long has this been going on? Must be a newish bug as I haven't played for quite a bit and it's never happened to me. I do watch a Youtuber that if he dies while shooting his pulse rifle the sound of the rifle continues until he spawns in again, retrieves his rifle and shoots it again. He is playing a mod, so don't know if this happens in vanilla.
Since one of the recent 1.7 updates. I don't remember which. The problem isn't consistent enough to be able to reproduce it yet. Entirely vanilla game in this case. I haven't got any mods installed on my 1.7 setup yet.
After playing several days after this bug report, here my updated notes about the 2 points a) and b) of my main thread: a) The weapons suddenly firing un-ordered is clearly a sound bug, there is no weapon usage. It happens as soon as you power-on your SV/HV if 'Turrets and Weapons' are activated in the control menu and if you have already used its weapons in the same game session. It never happens with my CVs. b) A workaround is to wait 1-2 seconds before using the detector, in this case the last weapon will not fire accidentally.
I'm getting the weapons audio bug in both vanilla 1.7.8 (no mods) and in RE 1.7 - both reproducing in HVs and SVs. Haven't checked in CVs yet. Still waiting for devs to move the detector default hot bar position to #1 slot to avoid accidental weapon discharge and loss of faction reputation. IMO it should also be treated as a bug that #1 slot is for a weapon and not the detector ... accidental discharge at the wrong place and moment can be game breaking.
