That is exactly why i am not a fan of one-base-racetracks. They are way to small. I saw the one rucky posted on his entry on the workshop in the video. That is a good track for one, maybe two small sized racers doing time trials but not for 10+ HV racers. My thoughts on this: think big. Like Rally Dakkar, pod race or "race around the planet" big. That is why my checkpoint gates have a gap in between of over 10 BA blocks and are around 20 blocks high. They can be placed far apart.... way more than you could build one base, and that would be only two checkpoints. ;-)
Insomnia has been kicking my butt today. On the upside I got a lot done on that Corellian freighter. The interior is textured now although it feels like it could still use a bit more. Going to have to see what else I can come up with. I started adding some detailing to the exterior. Just little bits of piping and trim that you'd expect to see on Star Wars ships and I molded the turret into something respectable. I did some preliminary work on the thrusters. Surprisingly it didn't take a lot to get it moving although it was sluggish. It's lighter than the Falcon....about half the iron requirements at the moment although I expect that to go up some more. Unlike the Falcon all the thrusters will be on the exterior. Still working out placement and design. I've got a lot of work left getting it flight worthy.
As for a racer, I may have figured something better for thrust arrangements, but that means a number of them are going back to the drawing board for general placement of said thrusters and the shell of the vehicle. Split my time between learning how to drive a racer somewhat on a track and my single T1 large generator CV. Spoiler: Pics My "cars" might be going back to the drawing board, but the prototype bikes might stay as they are. As you can see, I am playing around with various numbers. They are both the same width, height and depth. Nearly the same weight, but 78 has better acceleration forward and reverse as well as a better yaw rate. I spent a lot of time playing with textures and colors for the ceiling. The floor was easy in comparison. Again, I tried several different colors. The placement of a few exterior blocks caused their colors and texture to leak inside the vessel, so I decided to just bring some of the exterior work inside the CV as well. I would hate to fly with that light in the middle of my view. Good thing it automatically shuts off when there is no one moving around the cabin. Which then makes me wonder about the challenge requirement of not redlining while flying in Omicron's atmosphere. Does that mean someone would have to go into the control panel to turn on all the lights to make sure it qualified. Not like it is an issue for my CV. There is a very decent margin before it would redline on Omicron, but all those cabin lights do automatically shut off when you take a seat and start flying. [edit] But no off switch for the grow lights or ventilators, this is a flying farm after all. When I wasn't contemplating and redoing deco work, I was fixing up and actually adding some signal work. This is a farm, so there had to be a way to shut off ALL thrusters and RCS while at rest.
In this sea of beauty, allow me to show some pure ugliness... I made a small CV with nice performances a few days ago... But the hangar was a bit too small, and I wanted more space for more gunzzz...so I made it a tiny bit bigger... Hangar now ready to receive baby monster... And still very nice performances for the increase of mass and size : And this is the SV that goes with it... Pure ugliness, pure power... tested on aliens aged over 18 : I tried another version with 1 thruster removed forward and 1 backwards, and it jumped to 141 m/s^ in 4 other directions, but lowered to 106 front-back. And honestly, there is no need for a higher acceleration front-back than sideways and up/down, because it is needed mostly to avoid enemy fire by strafing... can't evade lasers by "outrunning" them forward or back! I used to put blocks to hide some small things, but since the bulk of the thrusters protect them I just added ramps, which are light and sturdy, and since I don't give the "angle" to enemy fire to hit that spot : Oh ! Almost forgot... there's my "repair-to-blueprint-on-the-go" : just a little base I spawn after squashing aliens to repair my ship while on a rampage : Just a few blocks, small gen+fuel tank and repair block. I put it back in a crate for next usage...
Thank you Already did actualy - a tuned down (red to orange) on steam. But since you kindly requested it here, i decided to share the version i play on these forums: https://empyriononline.com/threads/boldly-introducing-the-sephrajin-carrier-red-orange.36947/
I'm still not good/trained enough to get a perfect round, but when you take all those perfect sub-parts from all 100+ laps, it should be one! a few laps only: right, that track is only good to test your own vessel against it (or against the time), not for actual multiplayer racing
Nice stats... kinda like using hellfire missiles for propulsion and fuel-tanks for armor... however... Dem Stats.... On the Base racing thing... sounds like a job for making ski-jump transfers between base 'tracks' ... maybe even a figure "8" . if you were sufficiently masochistic you could make them modular and several different formats but still make the transfers line up regardless of which piece is next to the other.
Just tried my build against Thermica Station... almost too easy. I do like to have info on screen, but damn... Some 3k railgun bullets later, I finally found the core ! Having a low specs laptop I don't play with fancy shadows & textures, so to avoid having my spotlight busted I put it behind one of the railguns, through which it shines... After clearing the drones and turrets, only one of my railguns was at 1% damage, but the spot was at 88% ! Talk about magic... Reading about the race track here... wonder if we will still be able to make custom maps with version 8.0 ?
but these fu%&in' Downvoters... again, in between 1 hour 4 downvotes to my Racer. I've checked that very closely this time, because yesterday the same, again 1 hour, again 4 downvotes, yesterday my Scenario. I think this is only 1 person, having 4 copys for that, I really would like Steam to open the names of the voters. And I think it's ONE of the guys at the frontpage now or near of it, to get the competition of. And yes, my Vessel is completely killed from the direct Frontpage (two hours ago) to Page 10 !! Sorry for the rant guys, but this getting really on my nerves sometimes. and after that writing, vola, another 4er group of downvotes. thank you.
wish there was a way to know who is doing the downvotes. Most likely people on other competitor's lists thinking that the racer challenge is a popularity contest for the win . . . idiots. I've seen a rash of these since we started doing the challenges regularly.
I will, I will ! In the meantime, what do you think of this as "race track" for the HV challenge ? Closer look : A small lake with some obstacles : And a jump ! ok. I did this in some 20 minutes this morning... but that's the idea : a track that goes around the planet. There could be bridges, tunnels, etc. Too bad we will not be able to make custom maps with the next version... or will we ?
Don't bother with those votes (i actually don't see them and don't know how to vote myself :-D) Probably some kid with problems being criticized and in major need to compensate that. As if 4 votes would be changes anything. @Kassonnade Actually pretty good, but i like natural landscapes as tracks way more. So if you can mange to make a natural planet have a canyon type racetrack i am all in for that.
Here, I fixed the colors a bit and removed the annoying trees from the track... did not put the "jump" back... The terrain needs a smooth pass... ! @Arrclyde : that's a quick planet made in 5 minutes (heightmap), splatmaps in 5 more minutes, made a "jump" and tested it. But if someone is interested I might put in more time, and not a flat terrain for sure.
Now I don't want to start again on that topic of course ;-) still have to correct you on that: 4 DOWN-votes are not only views (that's negligible, right), but when you only had 12 upvotes yet, these 4 downvotes means a downscaling from 100% positive to only 75%. That's MASSIVE. As I said I was on the top (as high as #2) and then killed from the complete first 9 PAGES for a short amount of time, then it got normalised again and I got at least on the first page again. DOWN-votes do have a high impact. Very nice! Still a bit too artificial... not the race track, the surroundings, but it can get somewhere... definitively interesting!!
Well.... maybe you are searching wrong. I look on the workshop for the newest too. and there you are on page 1 ;-) Not everything is as narrow as it seems from a certain perspective. And we still have some time left. In the end... well if the first place wins and doesn't have AT LEAST 4 downvotes.... you know how did it. ;-) Well.... shoot, i wonder if i don't get those 4 downvotes on my entry on purpose now. :-D
