Ask NASA why they build all theirs crap on land... ;p But seriously, I can manage all obstacles from gravity field, what I'm really worry are bugs: http://empyriononline.com/threads/c...ty-field-misbehaving-while-constructing.6900/
I find it much easier to build (in creative mode) on the ground than in space because of how retarded the jetpacking is in space right now, and bumping even a smidge of any surface.
Jetpack. Pooh... even to jump the height of a single block you have to turn on the jetpack. Then you over shoot and land over a wall in the water only god knows were. Yes i know look down when jetpack jumping. But why not jump at least one block high without the jetpack?
Can you do that? With all the equipments on your back or even without it, can you jump that high just with your muscles? No? Oh, well...
Well getting into space isn't that big of deal. Just load it up with enough fuel tanks but now with the new bigger fuel tanks and bigger generators in the game flying something that big should be a bit easier. Plus the game has EXtra Large Thrusters for a reason. lol The Extra large thrusters are almost the size of a small SV ... I'm just amazed at the fact that you're doing this with all hard settings in survival mode. That is impressive to me. I am a building a giant carrier but I'm doing it creative mode first then I will move it over to survival. like I do most of my ships.
Well made it back with new CV slab and a basic SV from the default BP. Went back to the location of my demise and was able to get the cockpit into what was left of my fighter. It still had 1 rail gun left out of 4 so it was worth saving. Couldn't get to my backpack due to the base shooting through the mountain so I decided to go on without it. Lost my epic assault rifle but I am sure I will be fine without it. Made my way to a lava planet and to mesporon (not sure of the spelling) and managed to get the ores I needed to start the production of the Icarus (my new cruiser -name will no doubt change) can't wait until the 17 hrs are up and I can try it in survival. While I wait I am mining the rest of Akura and the moon and designing a basic outpost for my future conquests. The take a fighter to the planet and mine with fingers crossed won't work forever. I plan to build outposts on each planet and gayer everything I can stockpiling it all in the space station I plan on building so I can start my fleet
Put the finishing touches on my latest CV. Will do a final "walk-through" tonight and post to workshop. Then maybe I'll spend some time actually playing the game? ... ... Naahh.....
Oh yes. I made a special SV with extra lights pointing down using cockpit2. For hunting blue crystals. Works fantastic.
Or be able to grab a Ledge & haul yourself up it Action Game Style? I wish I could build even my HVs in Space. To each their own. I've just been doin more work on Classified stuff.
I can't agree with using anything except multiple "thrusters directional" in survival, because of energy efficiency reason. Let's look on that: Also 20 thrusters directional pointed down is enough to make large CV made of reinforced steel hovers on a planet surface, so what for you need XL thrusters (which is equivalent of 100 thrusters directional in term of force) in space? There is no reason for that, as it's just overkill and gigantic waste of energy. The same goes for SV btw, it is by far more efficient to make csv with multiple thrusters directional on all axis. Everyone is designing ships how he likes, that's why we are here, but power efficiency I present is something to think about as well. I can't imagine doing otherwise, for me making ship in survival adds more value to that ship project. You know, all that time spend on digging ore, crafting parts and finally building, accumulate in finished product, adding some sort of respect and value to that ship, if you understand what I mean. Speaking about ship, building progressing, slowly but surely. I have the skeleton frame for half the ship.
