Seeing this, the Cygnus might make for an interesting CV, even if it is a bit large. Maybe if it got shrunk a little?
I made a Level 5 version of my scout hover craft. We've got medium thrusters, real hover pads, two RCS, and a minigun turret. We're now rocking 2.5x the acceleration, and dang, it still handles well.
Tried Advanced Akua-Omicron, Masperon (hardest) with several seeds. Seems doomed to die a few times, due to no iron around starter area, and no plant protein plants, and no conversion from rocks to ore in the suit constructor, and radiation giving "open wounds" in its stage 1 when cured. Of course can give myself (im - H) a survival constructor for conversion of rock to the 3 basic ores if needed. EDIT: Found the seed 8611875 that seems possible to survive on, since a small biome close by the Adm with enough iron to get going. Started with easy equipment, but dumped all when found the iron. Enough Copper and Silicon around too.
Thought about converting some of the old favorite SV's: To some of the newer thrusters and such. Plus, another excuse to use the color tool. But they all utilize an older block type that uses 200 Hp's for the cost of a, now, regular small block. Tried using the -alpha4 command, returned some craziness in the console, bug reported, and am left with an open slate. Maybe make some POI's.
It's kinda funny what happened to that little ship just because I wanted to expose the reverse thruster. Maybe I should post it, after I replace the plastic blocks with steel.
*Snicker* Something about this Build reminds me of some Plane in RL called the "Spruce Moose"... or was it "Spruce Goose"...? One of those two...
"Spruce Goose" Built by Howard Hughes to fly TANKS!!!!! across the Atlantic for WW2. After millions of dollars and Being WAY late it only flew once and then was hidden away in a warehouse where it was found after HH's death. And on a lighter note ...I built a small transport for transporting my small stuff that needs to be transported. And as I was looking at it , I suddenly realized exactly how big the deck was...so now I have the warp capable CV that is cheaper than some of my SV's
Started a new game, named "Terra Incognita". This time on the Temperate Planet. Found, after some searching, a suitable Place for my new Base. Besides of the Guarding Towers I built the Base from scratch.
When I created the Star Cruiser CV, I was so scared of exceeding size class 5 that the Star Cruiser was not what I envisioned although it was a mere size class 3. I have been working on refitting the CV, pushing it closer to size class 5 and adding what I had wanted it to be in the first place. Spoiler: Pics and video About a half week ago I did a long video showing the evolution of the Star Cruiser, going from the version on the workshop through to my recent project. I concluded the video by stating that if I could keep that final variant down to size class 5, then it would eventually replace the Star Cruiser on the workshop. Looks like I might just be doing so. Of course, I still have a lot of work to do. The new hull works with the retractable turrets. This is one time I am glad that I had not yet finished a design. It would've been nice if these new weapons would have worked on the remodel I had already made good progress on, but it was taking a major refit. So I decided to just start from scratch, using what I had learned in other builds. This next two pics show the CV with weapons extended and retracted. This time I actually have separate patient and treatment rooms, a feature I had scrapped from the original Star Cruiser to keep the size class down. In addition to the primary bridge in the front of the vessel, I kept the battle bridge concept. My goal is to have the Star Cruiser revision completed by the time I complete the Red Darner SV. I did a walk through of the O2 again. I found only minor areas of concern. However, I realized that I had forgotten ammo boxes and constructors. I fixed those oversights, and retook the picture of the statistics used earlier in this post.
I see that long road followed by a Ramp Jump & immediately get the urge to Ramp Jump off that Ramp with my Tyrax Truck Racer...
When I get back to work on it, I shall jump off it with the Zeus. It's my hover with the best jump time. I wanna see if I can jump to orbit in a HV. If it does work, then it's a 100% functional mass driver.
If it don't works and your HV drops like a Stone and submerges beneath the surface you may offer the Mass Driver to the Devs so they can make HV Wrecks on planets happen...
@The Tactician[ Λ ] Started working on a U-Wing as promised. After a number of false starts and many hours trying different combinations of blocks it's coming along. Currently installing and tweaking the flight systems. I tried a version using the new wing pieces but they don't look right. Some other stuff in the shipyard being worked on. The HVs on the left there are new although most aren't working out really. The big ship is an existing blueprint of mine I'm overhauling. Slightly bigger, new interior, plus ramp for loading small HVs. Spoiler
Those are looking pretty well, so far. If you take into account the limitations that our block system provides.. VERY WELL
It's been a real challenge to work on. I spent a LOT of time working that front end. The underside looks simple enough in pictures but it was a real pain due to the angles involved and the way they fit together. I did what I could with the blocks we have available. It moves like a bat out of hell! Well, forwards and backwards anyways.
What sources are you using? Rogue-1 mainly I presume? I would go for some artistic license and make "modifications" while coming close in its outer appearance. You may consider to look at the DeviantArt Website here-> https://www.deviantart.com/adamkop/gallery/
I'm just using whatever turned up in an image search for references. Concept art, pics from Rogue 1, small scale models, fan art, video game art, etc, so I have a good variety of reference material. Pics of the rear underside were a little harder to come by and some of them contradicted each other. Some have the back curving in more, some it's flatter/straighter angle. Some have the exhaust grill curving down with the body, some not. I'm pretty satisfied how mine turned out though. I'm still tinkering with the front end a bit. The part where the side angle joins the front is proving difficult to nail down. Thanks for the link! Looks like something I'll enjoy browsing. Edit: Progress update. Spoiler

Sneaky use of Symbol Asymmetry... so eye catching even an unobservant bugger like me got my eyes caught on it.
